We're wrapping up the last of our oat hay, pun intended. The oats we planted this spring are providing much needed hay for our cows this winter. We are using an Anderson RB-200 bale wrapper, and an Allis Chalmers 200 tractor. Alan has his 830 Case tractor out in the field to load up the hay, and the 530 Case for unloading the hay.

Thank you for posting this video. It was one of the first to come up in Google. You really showed how these wrappers work. We never owned or used a wrapper before but have purchased balage in the past. So we decided to purchase one and this video really helped to make the process much easier to understand beforehand. Thank you and keep the great content coming

Nice to see the kids involved. I'll bet they can't wait for a chance to help the adults work. If they're interested then they are already on their way to being productive farm workers. A grand opportunity for youngsters as sadly there are less and less farms these days.

I loved round baling with my 200. When the buzzer would sound i would kick it into neutral on the side shifter and she would coast just far enough to finish wrapping the bale and dumping it!

My first wife. Wish I could have wrapped her into a big sosage like that. The plastic. Irate.. Good to see kids get to work the farm life. I was in the city today. 2x kids playing in the water fountain. The little girl jumped into. And her boots filled with cold water. The look on her face was priceless. I laughed.. Next minute farther and mother were crying perverse. I'm just stupid..

God bless these old time small farmers. It's a shame that their is not more of them like years past. But it is hard for them to make a decent $ money any more . The farmers work from sun up till sun down just to make enough to live it's a shame. No farmers no food. Thee farmers should make a lot more then they do. God bless thanks for the video.

Good video Alan, that bale wrapper looks like it works pretty slick, The year of the AC 200 got to be in the late 60s early 70s, my friend got a 190 AC same body, his a 1969, I'm guessing the 830 Case is a 1964-65 model

Lord if I had to wrap all of my hay with that wrapper I’d quit wrapping. I have 2 Anderson inline wrapping machines. That wrapper puts as much wrap on 1 bale as mine does 2. I’ve wrapped about 900 bales so far this year. C&S Cattle Company. Narrows, Va

Hey guys just trying to catch up on some of your video’s. I enjoyed seeing the A C 200 my neighbor who milked back in the 70’s and 80’s had one it was his main powerhouse tractor the only complaint was when you were going down hill with a load behind you it was prone to try to jump out of gear do you have that problem with your tractor? Thanks 👍

A couple of questions! I know there are lots of wrappers out there and you buy what you can afford. Why does it use so much plastic for each bale? must be expensive and then lots of waste from all the plastic after opening the bales. You have forks on the loader and you have forks on the rear of your tractor! Why can't you pick up two bales at a time to bring to the truck?
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 4 жыл бұрын
Good questions, before I bought this wrapper I rented a wrapper like this and also a inline wrapper, I like the inline wrapper better but there is a few different reasons we went with the individual wrapper, we will cover those in our next video because we have had a few people ask, about loading the bales, I usually do carry one on the front and back but the back spear is a single spear and those soft core bales won't stay on, but when I use our other baler then I can carry one on front and back.

I have been watching American farm videos and wandering, “why don’t they wrap their bakes, left out in the open to spoil”. This is the first time I have seen it done. Does the number of turns equate to six wraps? I have also not seen a wrapper that needs to be fed, I guess it is an early one. We always wrap our hay as haylage here in wet West Wales. Our contractor has a machine that chops, and wraps all in one process and we pick up with a squeeze bale grab and stack two to three high. The plastic costs to dispose of, but it is a cheap barn.

.."left out in the open to spoil" ??????????? One year I bought about 130 4x6 bales of grass hay from my neighbor. Cut early, dry hay, excellent quality baled with a new John Deere baler. The were all stored outside in long rows and were there thru a Minnesota fall, Minnesota winter, Minnesota spring and 10 bales remained thru the summer. I assumed those 10 bales would have to be used for bedding. Wrong! The first of those ten I cut the STRING ( not even mesh wrapped) and peeled back the depth of my finger nails off the outside. Nice color, nice grass smell, and the cows love it. "spoil"...? Only if you have a baler that can't make a TIGHT ,ROUND bale and you let them sit in a dip where water collects. Years ago , 2 round balers made great round bales that set in the field like a tightly inflated basketball........John Deere and Vermeer. Today , most other make of balers got better over the years. Years ago many made pathetic bales that I wouldn't hire a custom baler if he used those certain make of balers that baled lousy bales.

It doesn't rain every other day here like it does over there. Dry hay, unwrapped will store outside just fine

How many days worth of feed is one of the oatlage bales? my 14 head get about 3 to 4 days in the winter. Or are these used in the barn as cow chow during milking? oh and that old baler looks like it make a good tight bale.
@trinitydairy

I use those mostly for dry cows and heifers so the number of animals changes, but I would say 2 days on average. Yeah that baler makes a pretty good bale.
