I watched three videos in a row because I have to do this job. Great work, and very informative, but thank God for the change in music at 8:50.. I was on my last straw!

Wow.....impressive work! I'm not planning anything, but had a '69 in the early 1970's and have been watching some WV restoration and welding vids here. All the Best,

all of these bug videos' were really helpful, clear with good close ups of the detail that's so often skimmed over, many many thanks!

You do Great work with your welding with mig. I'm an old fart taught by my dad to do Oxy/Acet welding. When you oxy weld you just "dress" it ( beat and cool ) and there's no grinding and re welding pin holes. I'm probably never be convinced that a row of hard tacks are better than a soft malleable continuous oxy weld. 😉 I suppose tig is the same but it's very fussy.

It'd be great to have a video on what happens next to the car after David gets his car back. Even if it isn't you doing it - something to complete the story of this restoration

Thanks for this informative series of videos! I'll have to do most of this work to my Bug at some point. I feel much better about the idea of trying this myself now! P.S. Add this video to the Bug playlist!

You do work the correct way. I'm glad you show that as well so maybe the viewers catch on to that. I'm sure you've come across way too many VWs that were just hack.I know I have. Anyway congrats on a job well done.

At todays prices, maybe look into a Titan #4,500 Rotisserie would be cost effective and built without fabrication. Plus you can move the center of gravity up and down.

uh, remind me again why I would use mild or heavy torch heat to address stuck body pan bolts? I've followed and am stuck with a body pan bolt and others recommended heating up the bolt. Is that a smart method?
@callahansgarage Жыл бұрын
Heating any of the floor pan bolts with a torch is more hassle than it’s worth. You cannot get the heat up into the threads where it’s needed. If you have an induction bolt heater that may help, but a torch will just make a bunch of smoke and smell.

Tremendous work! ... recognizing this bug belongs to your friend, one wonders howmuch this amount of high quality work would cost a regular client?
@callahansgarage Жыл бұрын
This project has around 80 hours into it. Compare that with rates at local shops and estimate parts costs. That should give you a pretty close idea.
@kevinhambsch9201 Жыл бұрын
@@callahansgarage Yike! ...well, you are well worth that amount. Am not sure I'd say the same re other people or shops. , Kevin Hambsch
