CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When Ares (dgar Ramrez) begins an attack, Hephaestus (Bill Nighy) sacrifices himself so that Perseus (Sam Worthington) and the others can enter the labyrinth.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The epic battle between the Titans and the gods continues in this sequel set ten years after the events in Clash of the Titans, as Perseus (Sam Worthington) descends into the underworld on a mission to rescue Zeus from the clutches of Hades (Ralph Fiennes), Ares (Edgar Ramirez), and Kronos. In the wake of his decisive victory against the Kraken, Perseus has retreated to a remote fishing village to raise his young son, Helius. Meanwhile, humanity has lost faith in the gods. As a result, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon find their power beginning to slip, a development that could spell disaster for all of humankind should their imprisoned father, Kronos, manage to break free from his underworld prison in Tartarus. When Perseus learns that Zeus' son Ares has teamed with Hades and Kronos to capture Zeus, steal his power, and create hell on earth, the time comes to take action. Now, with Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and Hephaestus (Bill Nighy) by his side, brave Perseus will venture deep into the underworld on a mission to defeat the Titans, deliver Zeus from evil, and prevent the powers of darkness from consuming all of humanity.

I didn't much care for their version of Ares, but I think the guy playing him (almost looks like Billy Zane) really made this scene. The look on his face after Perseus punches him - I can't tell if he's smirking at Perseus 'cuz it didn't hurt... or enjoying the fact that someone might be able to challenge him a little. Either way, he pulls it off.

Lightning Bolt was created purely from the Cyclops after Zeus freed the Cyclops from the bowels of Earth due to Cronos imprison them, which means Hephaestus was not born yet. That includes the Trident. Regarding Hephastus however, he was born after Athena was born due to Hera's jealousy of Zeus able to give birth a child through his head. Hera was jealous because Zeus has always been infidel and sired many children with other woman to the point that even if Zeus happened to give birth a child through his skulls is considered to be an infidelity to her. To get back at Zeus. She also made herself to be able to get pregnant without man as Zeus gives birth to Athena without woman or her to be specific. Thus... There you got Hephaestus. So it is fair to say that he can't control the weapons that he never created or involved in the creation to begin with... Meanwhile other weapons for the other gods and goddesses were created from Hephaestus himself.
@MagMaybe

@@viperakmal In regards to Athena, though she was born from his head (rather mind)- she did have a mother. Her mother was titan Metis (wisdom), Zeuse's first love. She was wise beyond anyone and helped Zeus to free his siblings from Kronos's belly after he had consumed them. But, there was a prophecy, that she will bare him a child, who eventually overthrow him, so he tricked Metis. Metis, turned in to fly, was consumed by Zeus, to avoid the prophecy, but she was already pregnant with Athena. That is why Zeus gave birth to her through his head/mind. Athena was not the child of the prophecy though, her unborn brother was to become one. Athena was loyal to her father, his favorite in fact. She was wise like her mother, yet cunning as her father, that is why she was not goddess of war like Ares, rather goddess of war strategy. She was also goddess of crafts such as weaving and her sacred bird was owl and sacred tree was olive tree. Athens was named after her after she was competition against Poseidon. Hephaestus's parentage is not 100% known either. In some versions he is considered Her's child born through parthenogenesis (virgin birth)- no father. In other versions his father is Zeus.

Some closer to others. Ares and Hephaestus were the only two gods born to both Zeus and Hera. All of the other younger gods and goddesses were the result of Zeus's affairs with other goddesses and titaness. Apollo and Artemis are the children of Leto, Dionysus is the son of semele a mortal one of the few to ever bore a god for an offspring, Athena was the daughter of his first wife Metis who them was swallowed by Zeus for he feared that she would bear him a son and he would overthrow him like the olympians did the Titans. That was why Athena was fully grown when she arose from Zeus' forehead. Hermes was the son of Maea a titaness. Persephone was the daughter of Demeter and later became the wife of Hades. So yes all the goddesses and goddesses are related because they are all the children of Choas and Nyx. All of creation are the children of those two entities.

@@tylanmaul6646 I'm sorry but no, hephaestus was born of hera and hera alone. Because she grew jealous of zues for he was able to bare athena by himself. But that's the problem. He didn't have athena by himself. He hooked up with someone else. Than heard the prophesy that his next son would over throw him. So he did what his father before him did. He turned the woman he fooled around with into a drop of water. He than consumed it. Later he had a splitting migraine and had hephaestus open his head but that just unleashed athena. That's the problem hephaestus was born by one parent and so he became disfigured and in some pretrails he looked like a goatman. He's also fabled to be a god of volcano's as well. If your reading this have a good day.

Being a half breed doesnt make someone weak though. Another example? Hercules. He's as well a half breed but he got all the strength within him. He was just having hard time against a God of War though.

This movie is sick Ares was literally born many millennia before Perseus but this film made him younger like he's born a few years after Perseus but as a god.

Hepatsus god of the forge, fire and valcanos ladies and gentlemen. Im not saying he could beat Ares no the only one that could is Athena from her wits but he could put up a good fight. We're talking about the god thats ment to cause eruptions from working underground.

Stonersloth Hughes Yeah but first reason he is so weak is because humans don’t pray to him anymore in this movie. Second reason is because Zeus took away all of his godly powers due to him siding with hades to overthrow him and become new rulers. Before that he could have had a fair chance against ares.

Not god of volcanos - we actually know the history of the word volcano..... The story of Pompeii’s demise becomes even more tragic after historians discovered the Pompeii citizens had no knowledge of what the nearby Vesuvius actually was. Having no knowledge of any volcanos, the city merely thought it was a large mountain. The actual word ‘volcano’ wasn’t invented until the 1610s, with the word derived from “Vulcan,” the Roman God of Fire. Given the same attributes of the Greek Hephaestus, the god of fire and blacksmiths, Vulcan’s worship was very ancient. Not only a god of fire but also one of masculine fertility who could make the harvest productive as well as manufacture metal and art. The Romans also relied on fire to bake basic goods such as bread, and so Vulcan also became the patron of ovens and baked produce. Fearing the destructive powers of fire the Romans dedicated a whole day to Vulcan called the Volcanalia, a festival held annually on the 23rd of August where people would throw small fish into the fire as sacrifices. It is ironic that the Pompeiians worshipped a god, who in their eyes, destroyed them. Of course, nowadays we have no such belief in Vulcan, with volcanic eruptions being a part of nature. But it is sad to think that the people of Pompeii had no comfort in that thought, more likely believing they had upset the gods and were now being punished.

Percius is already weak now since he has not had any battle in 10 years living peacefully with Io and their son. If this happens in the times with Clash of the Titans and Percius has the sword 🗡️ forge in Olympus, and during that time he's in rage for the massacre of his family and death of Io, he can handle Ares competitively and even win the fight in this scene alone. Guaranteed

I really don't get the whole "demigod" angle for perseus. He seems to have absolutely no special powers or abilities. His only reason for being able to survive or triumph is because he's the main character of the story.
