1998. First Mika Häkkinen won the F1 championship and then Tommi won the rally championship. Best year in the finnish motorsport. Ever.

Tomi is just a good person, humble and gentle. .I think he is d best rally driver

I have to say that Sebastian was an absolutely wonderful rally driver, but there is a big difference if you compare with Tommi, Tommi was 4 times world champion in a row competing against Sainz, Colin, Burns, Pannitzi, kankkunen, Auriol, etc...all of them MAster Class rally drivers ... For me Sebastian had no challenge, he compete with himself.

+Chuck Norris if you think that maybe (just maybe) its because Seb was so dominant, that other great drivers were just in his shadow? Same like Sumacher in F1 - you can say, that he has little competition, but in fact he was driving against best drivers in history of F1, unfortunately "there can be only one" ;)

Along with Gronholm and Loeb my favourite driver. Actually 1. Tommi 2. Marcus 3. Seb Loeb

Every Champion was/is the best driver of his Era. When Tommi won his titles, WRC was way more "down to earth" then it was in the Loeb-days, WRC was way more about the basic Rally driving, not with all the technologie which came up after CItroen/Peugeot started the PSA-company-war. But Yes, titles against people like Sainz, McRae, Kankkunen, against Subaru, Ford, Toyota are definitly harder to take then "just" winning against Hirvonen/Ford a few years ago.

for me tommi is a better world champion than loeb cuz when he was champion the standard of competition was so much higher than when loeb won his titles

I remember being a child, I was with my mother on the side of a road watching rally cars going past to other stages and the only driver that ever stopped was Tommi Mäkinen and he gave me an autograph on a picture of his Mitsubishi. Now when I'm older I really respect him for doing that!

Rally San Remo 2001.First rally for Loeb in wrc, first time racing with Citroen Xsara Wrc in the Rain. He finished the rally second, 11.4 seconds behind Panizzi AND he was in front of Auriol,Sainz,Delecour,Mcrae,Makkinen,Gronholm ... Also, the first four of Loeb's titles were mainly against Gronholm. Was he also an easy opponent?

A quite like Schumacher case, very succesful tight collaboration of brilliant car designer and good but not brilliant driver. Schumy could not do almost anything without Rory Byrne and Makinen without Mitshubishi designers.
