I've done loads of kitchens, the best tip I can give is, those small wall cabinets, you get a small hanging bracket, I scrap those and use a full length bracket, which you can cut down, or I like to notch the wall units, and run a full length across the wall, 1. You can get over cables, 2. More fixings in. 3.you can get it level much easier.

Great video, bud. I share the same views on Wren kitchens, absolutely hate fitting them, and probably won't fit anymore. Regards to the handle/knob jig, I've got one, had it many years. I simply set jig up with correct set back etc and I mark the door with a pencil and drill hole with a bradpoint bit. Never had an issue with it. Keep it up with these great videos 👍

That's a shocking design 😮 In addition to the wall unit disaster with the fillers, the 400/800 corner base unit has so much dead space, a 500 door on a 1000 corner and a 500 to the right of the drawers would have been much better. Maybe you should have put those wall fillers on the base run either side of the drawers to keep the alignment above, would have saved a lot of faffing with scribing fillers either side! Looks like there was plenty of tolerance to make that corner post smaller to fit them in. I always make sure to check the final plan with the customer before they order to avoid silly issues like this. Great videos, very insightful 👍

I think you’ve done a great job fitting the kitchen, the design is not balanced an too busy. You would think they could make the units to individual dimensions, unlike off the shelf stock cabinets and cupboards, given Wrens price tag. I’ve used a local guy who makes cabinets to order and orders doors to suit (and door types and finish don’t depict the price, as there was not a great deal between shaker and hi gloss acrylic). Am soaking all this in still Rich.

As someone who has fitted many kitchens from a variety of suppliers, I can confirm that how much you pay has no bearing on the customer service or quality. Probably the worst example was a B+Q kitchen, which due to missing pieces and damaged doors and the replacements being equally as bad. Was actually finished six months after beginning the installation.

Hi…Watched all four parts of your Wren install which was superb and very informative. Thank you. I am in the middle of installing my Wren Infinity Plus kitchen…not without measuring issues!😉 May I ask…where the decor panels meet the pelmet on the wall units, above the three draws, they appear to protrude about 5mm past the bottom edge of the pelmet, rather than be flush. Is this intentional and how you prefer to do it. 😊Thanks

Hi David. I’m racking my brains as to how I did it but if I remember rightly it’s not my preference but I like to keep my end panels 1-2mm in front of the doors/draws but the cornice and pelmet material from Wren wasn’t very deep so although I prefer to sit the pelmet further forward so it’s in line with the pencil round I couldn’t without losing the fixings point to the underside of the wall cupboard. Hope that’s makes sense. 👍🏻

@@mrabuilders6723Hi again further to my previous message…Looked at your video again and you mention ‘shaddow’ gap/space on the decor panels which overhangs the pelmet by 5mm. It does look really neat👍 Please May I ask your advice…I have now started to cut/scribe the end decor panels. My walls are way off plumb so I bought an Easyscribe tool for scribing. I cut the scribe with a Milwaukee circular saw, which made a right dogs dinner of it, as I wasn’t cutting a straight line!😢 Is a jigsaw a better option for cutting scribes? Thanks

Fairplay mate, another great episode showing how every day "construction" work can be very awkward. Cupboard hinges half fitted, screws not fully tightened, designers/measurers unable to use a tape measure and every little "discrepency" needs to be "over come" by the installer! Which in most cases....isn't noticed or known about by the customer, isn't paid for by the manufacturerer/supplier or client because most of the time you just want to crack on and get the work done and finished to the best of your ability, it can really get on your tits at times! I genuinely could count on one hand the number of jobs fiitting Wickes kitchens for 5 years that ran without some type of screw up on their part....every job there was something damaged or the wrong size or the plan couldn't physically work or the wrong colour or wrong type of unit or appliance. They would even send you the exact amount of, say plinth, once you had cut it all to the correct lengths etc you"d be 8mm too short because they were that tight the wouldn't allow for the thickness of your chopsaw blade. We would have to buy a 3 or 4m length to finish to job. Great job my friend, you done your lot proud and I look forward to the next, cheers bro 🙏

Looks Good. How did you get on with Wren Customer Services? From my experience they are a nightmare, because they will only talk to their customer ( which is your customer) and your customer in general won't have clue how to describe what is missing or wrong. It's hysterical when they ask your 80 year old customer what plan number she is refering to and the poor lady hasn't got a clue. They wouldn't even speak to me while we were on speaker. The customer service agent would ask which items were missing or wrong. I had to tell the customer and she then repeated it to the agent, before he would accept the instruction!. She was asked to take a picture of a damaged door and email it to them. As it was her daughter who organised everything, the customer explained that she didn't use email. I asked if I could send it and the customer had to give her permission for my email address to be added to her account before they would accept the email from me.. And that is all AFTER an hour wait on the phone. You gotta love Retail Kitchen Suppliers. Loving the video's though.

If it’s dabbed walls I’d recommend corefix fixings (covered these in one of the Wren kitchen videos) it’s what they are deigned for and even invest in the full length wall hanging brackets. If it’s solid walls I’d go minimum 2 1/2 x 10 screws ( 60mm x 5 ) and brown plugs in all available holes. Only my recommendation cos you’ll need to check the structure of the walls first and make sure they can take a good solid fixing.

Just get your base cabinets fitted first so you can use them to line the up the end panel. Remember to check top, middle and bottom both back and front of the dishwasher opening to make sure you get you required 600mm opening and also be mindful of the height. I always set my base cabinet height at 870mm minimum from the highest floor point even though as you may have seen from my dishwasher episode you’ll still have to put the legs on packers. I still can’t explain why we have to do that after all these years. Any more questions feel free to comment or contact us on our email mrabuilders21@gmail.com 👍🏻

No matter how long I’ve done kitchens I’ll always pick up something new. Thanks. Have you fit HOWDENS.? My last experience wasn’t good. Open gaps off square cabinets and backs falling off. Rickety structure. I did complain to them and was told I was the “only one” with these problems. 😮😮😮😮😮 although they did give some vouchers but nothing that would compensate for my time lost I haven’t gone back since. Mass production and fling them out to the outlets.

Hi and thanks for commenting. I have fitted many Howdens kitchens and I’ve always found them to be out of square, basic quality and as you say the backs of them not fixed very well only staples. 👍🏻
