Dude, that Phenomenal chant they did for AJ is so deserved. I actually really am enjoying AJ's character right now, his "no BS, wrestling machine" thing he has going on (like '05-'06 Angle). It feels real. At his age, he probably feels like his time is slowly winding down, so he hits the gym, gains muscle, and is seriously trying for one last main event run. However American crowds are deathly silent for him, they dont know whether to cheer, or boo because he's neither a face, or heel. Hearing the French crowd shower him with praise was awesome to see.

Unpopular opinion: i didn’t like the crowd. Listen, i want everyone to enjoy the show. For me, I could barely hear the commentary. The crowd doing that chant after every two count was cringe. I’m usually fine with soccer chants, but they didn’t even seem to be going along with the show at certain points. Watching back looking at Cody and AJ lock up and they’re singing “ah lala la la…ah lala la la…” They’d cheer for their own cheers. They’d sing along to entrance music and be annoyingly off beat. I’m over them.

The "Simplement 2..." (which means "Only 2...") chant is a big tribute to the french commentators (those from Backlash) who use to say it at nearfalls. It's one of their most famous catchphrase. Genuine question: What’s the meaning of largest gate? How is it better than WM? Can someone please explain what that means?
@ConnorDevlin2002

It was the largest arena gate and mania was a stadium show plus the tickets were expensive as hell
@Damonicus1
@Damonicus1 2 ай бұрын
More money basically. The "gate" is the money accrued from ticket sales. Mania, and even the recent Raw and Smackdown shows did well, and made a lot of money, but more expensive tickets means more money. You can have a 10,000 seat arena, sell each ticket for $10, giving you a $100,000 gate. Have a 10,000 seat arena, and sell the tickets for $15, and you get a larger "gate".

"Gate" just means total revenue from ticket sales. And like Connor here says, this was the largest *arena* gate in WWE history, meaning that Stadium shows aren't up for comparison

In the modern day they don't do the big shows like Mania and Summerslam in anything less than a huge stadium where they can pack 50k+ into it. the Arena is the smaller venue (in the case of this one, 16k for Concerts. 12k-ish for Basketball) and this show outsold any arena show from the past.

Bayley v Tiffany v Naomi was legitimately one of my favorite matches of all time. Like, top 5. Maybe higher. Just perfection. And damn…. That Roman, Jey, Jimmy, and Jacob v The Rock, Solo, Tama, and Tonga War Games match is gonna be fire!

What a crowd and a great show all around! I loved that opening tag match... and I fuckin love how WWE presents Nick Aldis as a GM. And here we are thinking that Sami's entrance a few weeks ago would be hard to beat and then France gives Jey THAT entrance...

Did anybody notice Jade Cargill started to look sick and totally lost during her match? i had to rewind back... as Asuka and Kairi did the submission attempt Jade looked confused.. and she looked sick and blank eyed.. she laid down and the ref went to pin, but Kairi had to grab her arm and move her into the submission spot... i assume this is Jade being crap... work is still needed.

Jade Cargill just plain sucks. Glad she didn't resign with AEW. AEW has way better women that can actually wrestle. Jade Cargill is all looks and no substance in the ring. The fact that she was training with Bryan freaking Danielson in AEW and she still can't wrestle worth a damn shows she learned nothing and didn't take anything seriously. She's not serious about the business. She just wants to go Hollywood and make movies. WWE is nothing more than a stepping stone for her.

7:50 when the referee got wrong, we chanted « we want michel » and « bojolé » because of the french wrestling KZfaqr Sturry who has a character named Michel Bojolé (a referee bringing up referee mistakes !) Sturry is also the one who brought up the idea of the lights during Jey’s entrance :)

The fans were electric and made the entire show feel "Big Time". I really enjoyed the show. So happy to see the Phenomenal One shine. Also, the Kabuki Warriors did a great job making their opponents look great. I would cringe every time they tossed or slammed Kairi. Thought they were going to break her. Kairi is double tough! Great Backlash!

The crowd was electric, but I couldn't figure out what they were chanting half the time. On Smackdown I could have sworn they were all chanting "Muffins" for some reason and I don't even think AJ knew what was going on.

Idk how I feel about Tonga yet. Not in terms of him joining but his threat level. We’ve seen so far every single time him and Owens clashed it was either a stalemate or he’d get beat up most of the time. Leading up to the match I said they’re failing if he’s supposed to be a huge threat here

I noticed the botch during the womens match. As much as Luke is correct that fans would have bashed WWE and the 4 women for the botch, I think that no one was overly critical because of how well they recovered and got back on track. WWE of old, the botch would have turned into an a train wreck. It shows how far women wrestling has developed in WWE over the last 5 years. If I were to nit-pick, Jade still looked a bit green but recovered and finished well. That is worth applauding
