Lots of people think BTS are always uber pop because their three most popular songs are, but that represents a really small part of who they are and what they stand for. Something I love about them is their lyrics, they write most of their own lyrics and mostly choose socioeconomic, political and personal issues with a major focus on mental health. I love how they write about mental health, they are always honest, no matter how ugly the truth is, but even when they discuss topics as dark as suicide, they still include a grain of hope that life can and will get better. I don't think I have ever found an artist that manages the same balance of realism and hope that BTS do.

100%. Imo their Korean songs are actually better than their fully English songs, just in terms of compositional complexity, variety, and lyrics. Their English music is much more light pop, which isn’t actually their bread and butter so to speak.

Love seeing people surprised by our boys, people have probably already mentioned it but BTS is a 7 member group with 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, this song was just the rap line - RM, Suga & J-Hope. I’d recommend checking out something just by the vocal line next to even things out: The Truth Untold and Dimple are good places to start as well as House of Cards which is a personal favourite. As for group songs there’s so many I’m not even sure where to start but I think Dionysus, Blood Sweat & Tears, Idol, Black Swan and Fake Love would be good for showing their diversity in sound, thanks so much for giving our boys a chance and hope to see some more reactions in the future 💜

Yes! BTS is more than the rap line. More than the vocal line. There are seven members that make up BTS and their diverse sound. The rap line does not represent the BTS sound. The production in their concerts and music videos is second to none. They are hard-working, talented, and are not just a peg in the K-pop industry. Please give BTS as a group a chance. What a great open minded and open hearted reaction! You would not believe how many people react to a couple of tracks (normally their english songs) and then dismiss them as pop and are quite derogatory, even though those tracks are amazing! As you can see you have to get deeper than that. I have a feeling you are going to get pulled into the BTS vortex, don't worry the weather is great in here!💜 You should react to BTS Room Live where they sing a short medley of songs from 2013-2020. j-hope (the one with the last verse), recently has released a solo album "Jack In The Box" and performed for 70 minutes as a headliner in Chicago at Lollapalooza. Maybe you would like to react to his live performance of "ARSON" (one of his recent singles) from Lolla. I think you may like it. j-hope had a live band with him and the songs' arrangements were really great and gave heavier rock vibe. I think especially first half of his performance you would like, it's heavier, like a blend of old school 90s hip hop with alt rock genre. The whole Lollapalooza gig and also separate songs are uploaded on the official BTS KZfaq channel "Bangtan TV".

Jimin, Taehyung (V), and Jungkook (the youngest of the group) all 7 have solo songs, and what can I say about their group songs, well they have 100's of them. They also have there own program which is called "RUN BTS" which will make you laugh do much. Each of them have their own talent. To get to know the members you should react to A Guide to BTS Members: the Bangtan 7 by Taylor. As for their music, they have a big variety of songs with very different sounds and they produce their own songs. BTS do so many genres. There is stuff for everyone. Every song is spectacular. Many people only know BTS for Dynamite and Butter, that were two songs made for the U.S. market and to be played on radio but the truth is they are great musicians, great performers, great rappers, dancers, producers. They got it all. This is my favorite song, my favorite performance at Wembley Stadium (by the way they are wearing all DIOR), but every song, every MV, every choreo is extraordinary.

So, some (hopefully) useful info for you: K-pop isn't really a genre so much as it is an industry. Most BTS fans, called ARMY, will tell you that BTS *is* the genre. They cover all kinds of styles, from hip hop and R&B to latin pop to ballads to pure pop to disco pop to EDM to vocal jazz -- basically, just about every musical style except country so far. Outro: Tear is just the rap line. And lemme explain "lines." In the K-pop industry, historically speaking, there are different "lines": vocal, rap, dance, and visual. (Yes, visual; it's a thing.) The most recent generation of K-pop has largely blurred these line designations, with all of the artists in a group being good at two or more of these designations. BTS themselves have all four designations. This song is just the rap line. The group also has four vocalists, who obviously do not appear on this track. BTS started as a group heavily influenced by hip hop, so their first few albums mostly reflect that. But even as they evolved their music styles, the rap line still comes together to create these one of a kind tracks. A couple of the more recent ones are Ddaeng and Ugh!. So. SO. GOOD. As you go forward, I recommend you start with stuff that isn't their all-English tracks, which they released after the pandemic hit as songs to send out positive energy into the world. The songs are great, but I think most ARMYs will agree they don't really represent BTS's artistry, particularly their clever lyrics and incredible choreography. (That's just my feeling; others may disagree.) Anyway, that's a lot for one comment! LOL! I hope you continue to dive into the BTS discography. As a musician, I think you're gonna fall hard for our boys. Welcome, friend!

The original concept for the group "Bangtan Sonyeondan" was that they would be a rap group - the three rappers you saw in this video were the first three members chosen for the group. Before they debuted, that concept was pivoted to a hip hop-styled idol group with both vocalists and rappers, resulting in the BTS we all know today. As a result, their musical genre trends very hip hop, although over the years they've experimented with other genres, including the hyper pop style you were initially expecting. As performers they are well-known for their nuanced lyrics, as well as their dynamic stage presence. As idols, they are loved for their genuine personalities and near-familial bond with each other, as well as the rather extraordinary parasocial relationship they've cultivated with their fans.

Love seeing your first reaction to our guys. I'm a 76 year old grandma (yes they have fans of all ages) who doesn't even like rap or hard rock but I love them. I must warn you. Once you start down the rabbit hole you will never get out. They perform all kinds of songs and they helped me and many others get through a period ofdepression. It's not only their music but also their personalities and openness and sharing their feelings with us. They become part of our world. Try watching the vocal line doing House of Cards. The pain and emotion of that song will just tear your heart out and leave you in a heap on the floor. Some group songs are On, Black Swan, No Not Today, Bapsae, and a hundred others. Their more mellow songs like Zero O'clock are beautiful. And J-Hope's new album Jack in the Box is beyond awesome, especially his live performance at Lollapalooza. He sold the most tickets ever in the 31 year history of Lollapalooza. If you don't become a fan I will be totally surprised. They are not Kpop. They are their own genre. They are one of a kind. It's frustrating that so many people out there still have this preconceived notion that BTS is just another poppy stereotypical boy band. If people really took the time to listen to BTS music people would see and hear they are so much more than just a boy band and that most BTS fans don't even like to call them kpop because even though they are considered kpop that title can be limiting too. RM the leader of BTS even said he doesn't want to limit his heart and music to the term kpop. I bet most people who think they wouldn't like their music or haters would become more appreciative of their music if they actually took the time to listen to it. Thank you for reacting and I hope you will check out more BTS in the future. They have over 300 songs to their name in various music genres so there is something for everyone.

Your reaction is the reaction of millions of their fans on listening to their music beyond their English language pop tracks, for the first time. There is so much depth to their almost 10 years worth of discography. They are not restricted by genre - which is what I love about them. 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. What sets them apart from the rest of Kpop is their underdog/ outside of the establishment story, their connection with their fans and deep and interesting lyrical content which very much permeates throughout their music. The reason their music feels genuine is because they have a huge role in songwriting, production and the creative direction that they take. As live performers they are second to none. And they are genuinely nice people with a positive sympathetic message to their listeners. Enjoy the journey. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised.

There are some who are of the viewpoint that Kpop is a genre (this can either come from hearing the word pop or they know about the whole genre/industry debate and chose genre instead). However, I would see it more as an industry and also in agreement with the views of one of BTS's members Suga who stated in BTS's interview at the Grammy Museum that “I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content... K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better."

Love to see ur surprised expression when RM rapping for opening the song since i know u are not expect that 🤣🤣🤣 Note : hope u read the lyrics too. Coz one of BTS strength is their lyrics. And in some of their song such as Ddaeng, ugh, bapsae (silverspoon), spine breaker, daechwita etc hope you can watch the explanation video for that song, coz they use a lot of korean metaphor n korean history reference. But once u know n understand their lyrics meaning, u will blown away how genius n deep of their lyrics. Since i am lyricist lover, that what make me love n interested with BTS beside of their skills, voice colour, performance, teamwork n charisma.

I really hope that you check out more of their music, BTS are a group of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They debuted in 2013 as a Hip Hop Idol group in South Korea. They write and produce their own music, and they are known for crossing and fusing many different genre's of music. They just don't have any genre boundaries, but their roots are very much Hip Hop. I left you a comment below with a performance link. Please react to it. Thank you for checking out BTS. They have a very diverse fan base. I'm a 56 years old BTS ARMY. 💜

I will link you his performance and other videos, like his two MV's that were released with his album, and his album playlist and an interview, all with English subs. You decide what you want to react to. But I guarantee, you will be mesmerized by his performance. The thing about the BTS members, they are all highly skilled and talented. And they are the hardest working artists I know of. That is a main factor in their success. They started from the bottom, at a small agency, and their rise in fame and success was not overnight. These seven men are very talented and seasoned performance artists. OUTRO-Tear This song gradually saw the light of day while BTS went to that point in a long period of hard work and hard conditions, and with the great popularity and fame that came along with the success, it must have been mentally exhausted and difficult due to the endless schedule and people's expectations. This song was made when they considered disbanding. If you see Dynamite Dance Break on the 2020 MMA stage, I think you will really like it. Be sure to watch the 2018.2019 MMA BTS performance stage as well.

From the start of video, I knew you'd be taken off guard. 😂 This is the precious rap line of BTS consisting of RM (leader), Suga & JHope. There are 7 members of BTS. The other 4 members make up the vocal line: Jin, Jimin, V & Jungkook. Each member shines bright individually, but together they even shine brighter!! They're taking a "break" from group projects at the moment to focus on themselves and solo projects. ARMY (name of fandom 💜) are patiently awaiting their solo albums with JHope being the first to release his called "Jack in the Box". He recently made history by headlining Lollapalooza just last month. BTS debuted in 2013, but they've been together as trainees since 2010 so their bond is very special especially their connection with ARMYs. This is just a quick intro to BTS, but there's so much layers to them and their discography is MASSIVE. Kpop isn't a genre, it's more of an industry. BTS roots are in hip hop, but as Artists they've dabbled in many different genres and sounds. BTS is just on another level of their own. Welcome to BTS x ARMY global family. What mood are you in? ARMY will make a few suggestions. They've blessed us with so much contents and their LIVE performance is just the tip of the iceberg. #ARMYsince2014 💜🎶

KPOP's roots are in Hip Hop. You just listened to the "rap line" of BTS. First, Kim Namjoon or RM, next Jung Hoseok or JHope, last Min Yoongi or Suga/Agust D. Style and fit by DIOR L'Homme. TEAR is a song that describes the psychological stages of grief. The reason KPop has groups of many members is so they can form different subunits like a rap line, dance line, vocal line , etc., as well as perform as a whole single group.

Yay! My favorite rap line song, though it is also heart-wrenching as it was written during a time they were considering disbandment (2018). RM starts it off (he's the leader of BTS and main rapper), followed by J-Hope (Dance Leader and rapper and sub-vocalist), and then Suga (aka Agust D for solo work, super fast rapper and main writer of this song and superb producer). Welcome to the rap line of BTS. There are also 4 vocalists (Jungkook = Main Vocalist who does a lot of their vocal guides, ad libs and background vocals, and then the other 3 great vocalists too: Jimin, V and Jin). BTS started as a hip hop group in 2013, but then expanded into other genres as well. There first "song" was No More Dream. Maybe you would like MV's for MicDrop, Not Today, Fire, Dope, Black Swan, ON (Kinetic Manifesto Film), Fake Love, DNA, Ddaeng (Live by Rap line, and then Live where vocalists take over rap line parts - amazing), Ugh (rap line). For vocal line only, there are 2 lives that I love: House of Cards (with Eng subs), and The Truth Untold (also Eng subs). Also, there is a Live for Dimple (vocal line) followed by Pied Piper (all of them) that is awesome. It is important to read the lyrics. Most of their songs are in Korean with some English mixed in. They also have Japanese songs, and 3 all-English songs that are, in fact, more "Pop-y" and done during the pandemic as feel good songs. Hope you check out more BTS. It's worth it and a fun journey!

When you said "it is kpop but it is a hip-hop group" i though it was funny cause back then when the group was being created they were going to be a k-hip-hop group with just rappers, but then they switched and decided to debut as a kpop idol group and then it was filled with the rest of the members which are singers( JIN JIMIN TAEHYUNG and JUNGKOOK). All the three rappers are amazing, their acknowledgement, their flow, their lyricism, their experience, the way they can convey their emotions in their songs is just so amazing. BTS is some of the best live performers you will ever see. Also too, just a heads up on their mvs. They have what is known as the BU (Bangtan Universe) in which if you watch some of their mvs in a certain order, they create a fictional story/drama. Some of the lyrics may not seem as if they go with what you are seeing in the mv, but the production of their mvs are top notch and their ability to tell stories is incredible. Everything you see in their mvs and on stage performances has a purpose. I'm excited for you. Just know that Real ARMY (BTS Fans) are here to guide you with loving hearts and gentle hands. I'm almost jealous you are just discovering them because going down the BTS rabbit hole has been beyond imagination. I'm relatively new to BTS and I have devoured all of their content over and over.
