Last July. Collemachia, Italy with a permanent population of 39, the breading grounds of a novel that remains undone and a month at my first creative residency. I talk a bit about my process and how I began; I wrote and by writing became a writer. I hope you enjoy.

As both a screenwriter, in a professional capacity, and a novelist, as a pastime, I've learned that progress is made by consistently sitting down with a yellow pad or at the laptop daily. Accomplishments are built one word, one sentence, one paragraph, and one page at a time. Commit to writing daily, even if for only 15 minutes, and focus on capturing the words. Don't stress over perfection - just write. You can always revise and improve your work in later drafts. Sure, it can be intimidating, but bit by bit, it all comes together. Remember to enjoy the journey - that's a big part of the fun!

"In all the world's stories, this was mine". I've written something like that at the end of my 2nd book. I started writing this year after years and years of imagining words instead of putting them where they belong and I can say it was really challenging, but amazingly satisfying. You'll face difficulties in your creative process, that's for sure, but you'll be rewarded with something unattainable by any other thing, which is a deep understanding of your emotions. To quote from a book I really love (precisely the book thief, a pretty famous one, I guess):"You'll hate the words and you'll love them...and I hope you'll make them right".

I have fallen in love with all of your videos after stumbling upon this one. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on a KZfaq video, but I just had to say from one writer (songwriter) to another, you seem to have words and stories bursting out of you in every glance, word, and movement! A truly natural born storyteller, which is so fun to witness. You are definitely made to create and I cannot wait to hopefully follow along for more. Wishing you the best of luck ❤

This video struck a chord with me. I don’t have the exact words to express what I’m feeling, but it comes close to a feeling of unity, understanding and being understood. Thank you for this video, Claire

Currently I'm in a really dark place but your video is truly like light in the tunnel. I feel trapped and the place I'm in at the moment feels like a prison and the only way to escape from it is writing but I cannot write and it's all full circle. I need that kind of refuge you found in this video. You seem very familiar to me with your desire to write and I guess all people who watch and comment this are connected in some way. Happy to know there are my people around the world. Keep writing!

Hey, I just wanted to say you will get through this, and you will find your way out of the circle that keeps you stuck and into much more life. I've been there many times before, and probably will find myself there again, but the beautiful thing is that life is always here pushing us forward in some way. Follow that path, find the little things that bring you light, and know things can always look radically different, if not now then maybe tomorrow, or the next day or the next, but all it takes is one moment for things to change in all the best ways. Keep holding the space for that, and keep writing, you will find your way. Sending you much love and support, you got this! All the best

You were in Molise! So nice, I was born in Molise but grew up in a coastal town very close to Rome. I’m surprised internationals are discovering Molise, it’s such a small region, but I think it’s beautiful. You’ve got everything: the beach, the mountains, a couple of nice lakes where you can actually swim, and small cute villages

Molise is one of the most beautiful places I've had the privilege of getting to know. It's quiet but full of life, very few places can hold the space to be both things at once, but Molise does, and it teaches me a lot

Thank you for sharing your experience with us ❤ I stumbled upon your video in a moment where I was feeling really down about my own project. I'm currently writing my novel, and I feel like I'm going nowhere but your video has reminded me why I'm doing it in the first place. It feels right, I love to create, and I really want to experience this journey. I'm definitely living under different circumstances, but I want to write, and I'll find myself the time to do it. Thank you again.

Nice video and content! I would like to quote you Jack Kerouac, great writer, who in his book "The Dharma Burms" wrote a sentence that struck me so much - "One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple" P.S. Did you know that you resemble actress and singer Maya Hawke? Like Maya you are very talented and appear confident 🔝

Hi!!! You are so sweet. As for St Andrews, I haven't filmed this year, I found myself a bit distracted with life, but maybe I will in the future. I have a couple bits and pieces I've captured from the past two semesters, maybe I'll put a video together? It would be very scattered but if that's nice to see I'll work on it. Much love!!!
