Aleksei Volkov, Maksim Tsvetkov, Anton Babikov, and Anton Shipulin were handed the microphone when organisers played the old anthem.

To TheTDMSubCountRiseProg and solidPain90, these are quite the mistakes! Makes sense that this is a common occurence, since the USSR anthem and the modern Russian anthem have the same tune! I wonder what would happen to this song if and when Russia becomes a democracy...

I would think that they just search it from the google and found this anthem, which were also the real Russian Anthem as well, except it is not being used anymore. ps. the anthem played in the clip is Russian Anthem for about ten years after Soviet Union collapse.

The backstory is that when the Soviet Union collapsed. Russia got a new anthem and during the years after the Soviet collapse,Russia was struggling alot in adapting to Capitalism. Not only that but Russians hated the new anthem and wanted the old Soviet anthem back. So around the 2000's,Russia made the Soviet anthem the official anthem again but this time with changed lyrics,and it's the anthem today. I am inclined to believe they did this on purpose because of the West's hatred of Russia.

It WAS the right problem... The only problem is that this was played in the wrong time later on, the anthem that they played was the Patriotic Song or in Russian (which I don't know) which was the anthem of Russia from Yeltsin's presidency to his end (1991-1999). Literally used for an exact 10 years until 2000 (It's technically used until 2000, but Yeltsin's presidency signifies the use of the anthem and the new president Putin coming in!)
