Gutted for Brian but damn he is one of the best things to come out of WSM. Imagine been 40+ years old, finishing 7th in the WORLD and its still considered a disappointment. The guy is a legend in the sport. He now has an opportunity to continue growing the Shaw Classic and all his other businesses. Plus hopefully we will see him on some more strongman related TV shows. Class act and a great stateman for strongman.

I thought about this a lot too. He’s still within the top 10 strongest humans on the planet while being well past his prime. And he would’ve done considerably better imo if he hadn’t had that ridiculous stone off. I know he’s done now, but I have no doubt he could hang around the top 10 for a very long time if he chose to do so.

Even the best in history don't always get a storybook ending. The poise he maintains despite that and eagerness for whatever is next is an inspiration we ALL can grab onto. Because almost nobody gets a storybook ending, in this way this was his most impactful WSM appearance ever. Thank you Brian

In a way I think this was a better ending tho. Because this way, the quality of his character was highlighted, and his strength was the side note. Just think about that for a second. Watching this has filled me not only with so much sadness but also so much joy. I'm sad to see you go because you are the reason I watched WSM. I'm 30 and have spent half of my life watching you compete year after year. I grew up watching you compete with people who are no longer with me and those wins hold some real significance for me and some beautiful memories. I am happy because while watching I know this is not the end but simply a new beginning. The changing of chapters and a new focus for you which I'm sure you will perform with as much dignity grace and grit as you showed as a competitor. I feel honored and blessed to have been on this ride with you for your career. Just know that you have a lifelong fan right here. Love you Brian, and I look forward to what comes next.

Already at a young age i watched Strongman Competitions on TV. I was (virtually) there right at the start of Brian's career. From afar, Austria to be exact, i was never missing any events they showed on TV. I was always fascinated by the sport, and I am so happy about how much it has grown - and you Brian, were a big part of its positive evolution and popularity. The sport eventually motivated me to do strength training for my wellbeing, and I would never go back. Strongman forever!

I wzs so sad when I first learned of the results- I followed Eddie's coverage and I was feeling good after the group stages, and then that first video about the Finals dropped. I couldn't believe it. This video gave me courage back. I had already begun to heal, but this restored my faith, my power, and my energy. We've been so negative but so many amazing things have happened. I hope to get to meet you one day. As a Swede, I would've rooted for you every year since I first learned about modern strongman (and with it actually understood what the sport of strongman was) in 2020 and onwards, even if we had had an amazing Swedish strongman at the contest every year. You're a way bigger inspiration than any of the Swedish Strongest Men (even Samuelsson), and if you ever think your words of inspiration and encouraging greatness in people fall of deaf ears, think again. You've not only helped me become a lifter and much more physically fit than I once was, but you've also helped me become a man.

Brian Shaw… You sir are an inspiration. Pa said it best, not only should men in the strength world look up to you, but just men in general seeing the way you prioritize your family and truly live up to the Go out and be Great mindset. There are many men who have sung these inspirational messages to the masses but no one has truly lived up to it the way you have. I know it’s not the result you or us as supporters had hoped for but what’s amazing is everyone involved cheered you on and loved you all the way through it, I think that speaks volumes. It’s unfortunate I wasn’t able to meet you during your career as a WSM competitor but I know you’ll be just as great and passionate about the next chapter, whatever that may be. Thank you for all that you do big man, Go out, and STAY great!

I’m not going to lie. As a grown man this makes me emotional. I remember watching Brian Shaw storm onto the WSM platform when I was still a boy. And I remember liking him for his intensity, skill, but most of all his raw passion for the sport. And to be here now as he retires I feel very sad but also proud and excited for what’s yet to come. Brian you have not only impacted the sport of WSM forever but you have impacted all of our lives. You have competed all these years with a level of integrity that is admirable all on its own. I thank you for everything you’ve done and am so excited to see what comes next. Congratulations on what I consider to be the greatest WSM career ever! Brian, you are my role model. I saw a fantastic post from Jesse God listing your athletic achievements, but I see that as just a part of what makes you who you are. Not only have you been extremely successful in sports, but you are also simply a good-hearted person, a loving father and husband, and a successful entrepreneur. And yet, you are always there for your fans, never speaking ill of others, and trying to see the best in everything and everyone. Same here. I learned from day one at the heats. You need to show up like three hours early. They did that Saturday then to just get stuck in the rain forever. Horrible fan experience. It really was. Still though it was awesome just to see Brian in person. All worth it to me. I just feel bad for the people. I talked to who said they spent $5000 just to travel there and they can’t even watch the event.

I’ve never been, but between stuff like this I’ve heard, and the whole antiquated way of distributing the show and going after people for posting stuff (I believe Eddie’s wife or someone had an issue with this in ‘17) it seems maybe WSM needs to bring in an outside firm to run the event. More and more they just seem like a terribly run organization, and aren’t keeping up with how big strongman is getting, and may in fact be hindering that growth.

I’m glad Eddie and Nick were there for Brian, and that it seems Brian really sees the impact he’s had. Hopefully he realizes what a victory he’s won, trophy or not. He inspired all the guys who are performing at such a high level, and, along w eddie, are giving these guys the blueprint on social media to put strongman on the map up there with bodybuilding (I’d love to see the sports merge more on the content front). Perhaps the most iconic strongman of the last 20 years. Also, I love some Nick Best. Great dude
