I remember seeing the mother at 13:54 when I was aged 22. I've never forgotten it, ever.

@Andrew Milner The wailing woman was the mother of Nicole Boulanger, one of the Syracuse students. She spoke in an interview 25 years later, and said she did not have a lot of memory about the incident. Only that her knees gave out and the guy on top of her was trying to help her up.

I'm really surprised they took commercial breaks. I wouldn't expect that today.

270 souls. A lot of young men and women who had barely made it into adulthood. There was a 2 month old baby on the flight. I often wonder who they would be today.

I flew on that same Pan Am "Maiden of the Seas: plane/flight 103 in 1987, as a young college student on my way home from London, a year before it crashed 12.21.88. Weirder yet, I was back in England, visiting friends just a miles from Lockerbie, when Flight 103 went down. We saw the breaking news that windy night. I had randomly, luckily chosen a different airline and flight back to the U.S. for 12.22.88, what turned out to be the day after the tragedy. When we landed safely in L.A., after an edgy flight, everyone clapped.

My mother's neighbor was on this flight. And my aunt and cousins were supposed to be, but decided to stay in Germany three days before the flight.

I remember this quite well. I was a freshman in high school in Alabama and we flew our flag at the school at half mast for these victims.

I remember as a 14 year old watching the news a reaction like that of 13:55. I think it was the same one, but I know there were more reactions like that from other parents. The agony in that mother's scream is hard to comprehend unless you experience it for yourself.

Isn't that quite appropriate to include a food mart commecial after showing the sorrow of the relatives whose children/relatives perished on that awful night?

Usually colleges would have let out for break by December 21, with finals already being over. At the time, however, it was commonplace to have finals in January after students returned from winter break, so perhaps they were already studying for them at the time of the crash.

I was 18 years old when this horrific plane crash happened. I was at my neighbor’s house on Green Street here in Syracuse, New York when we both heard the tragic news on WSTM CHANNEL 3 News, and we saw the Syracuse University students aboard Pan Am Flight 103 scrolling up the TV screen. When I got home to the apartment I shared with my mom-I started crying. It was like I was kicked hard in my stomach because of the 38 SU students killed.

Modern era tv news - tragedy, victims, screaming parents - cut to commercials, buy this, buy that - then tragedy again, details, reasons, answers - cut to commercials. I wonder how many people eat popcorn when they watch news.

Advertising was already purchased & set, have to pay for running a news organization someway. The only reasonable way to not show adverts would be a mutual decision & agreement by the purchasers of advertising time.
