Chubby Gristle was released on multiple home computers in 1988. And it's....odd. It's an odd example of retro gaming.
THANK YOU to Kim Justice, who honestly made a genre-defining performance of Chubby Gristle's voiceover. Check out one of my favorite lasses' channel here down in't pit / kimblejustice
If you feel the urge to see a full playthrough of this game check out www.rzxarchive.co.uk/videos/ch... and also just that site in general is sweet AF
REMINDER: I can't respond to all comments because of my mental condition, but I do read them so please bear that in mind before saying anything a bit creepy. I really hope you do teh lolz at this video.

An absolute bobbins game is the most fitting tribute for Sir Clive because he made a computer cheap and accessible enough that even the worst amateur programmers could write and publish software for it. The cheesiness of the UK home computer scene is also a big part of its charm (and one of the reasons why I love my THEC64 Mini).

Always thought it was more of a "Monty Mole" rip-off than Jet Set Willy, not that bad - and at least it was possible to finish it (unlike JSW). I'm maybe slightly fonder of it since I got it on a covertape rather than buying it full-price.

I always want to break down and cry when I see code been entered on a zx spectrum. Reminds me of my late mother, who sat up all night many years typing in code from a book, all to see a guy build a sand castle on. She was so happy seeing it. She passed away last year..

Wonderful stuff as always. I remember the adverts for this! IIRC, the weighing scale is there because Chubby Gristle needs to increase his weight to one ton so the Council have to put him on the sick so he doesn't have to work again. A bit like that episode of the Simpsons. Your Manic Miner video was the 5th I ever watched of yours!

Ah, all the 1980's game covers that were so disconnected with the actual game. We had Chubby Gristle on Amiga when I was a kid, and it was horrible already back then. Me and my friend probably never got to see more than four rooms, even while we played the game more than it deserved.

I remember this coming out, but I didn't get to play it until it was free on a Your Sinclair covertape. I did actually find it fun at the time and thought the 128k music was quite snazzy, and even managed to finish it as it's quite short once you know what you're doing (basically just make Chubby even fatter until he eventually tips the scales at the end). I doubt it's aged too well, though.

Whilst the 70's were uber cool, the eighties despite Thatcher etc was actually super funky too, the 2 tone music scene, skinheads and mods bashing up new romantics and casuals, scooter rallies, and I was on the telly not once but twice first as the "reference" for a drama which was followed up by a Channel 4 documentary in 1984 because I was a really big bad juvenile delinquent and super shocking and how they banged me up in a colloquially known old fashioned penal establishment for the best part of three years... Of course to the outside world I was this larger than life ultra hooligan type but at home I would be on me Speccy, Atari 400, ZX81, Oric Atmos, PC as well as fixing up me Vespa's and Lambretta's, the occasional car and I kept both worlds so far apart as I knew if most me bovverboy mates found out they would have torn me a new one. I was lucky too living in Bromley as that was the heart of Punk, indeed I went to same schools as David Bowie and Max Splodge (got expelled from 'em too) as he was a god to us local folk and Punk was his brainchild.
