Learn a shortened, modernized Wushu Eagle Style Form
The eagle stlye is a traditional, external wushu style that involves a lot of fast movements and acrobatic jumps. The form shown here is modernized and shortened for shaolin shows. However, the movements in this form are very typical and if you have some modern wushu background, this is a great form to start with. You will see the form in full-speed first, and then in slow motion.

Look at his speed, flexibility, strength, power, and most of all, MARTIAL INTENTION. Even if this gentleman doesn't know the first thing about fighting, the fact that he is physically capable of doing this form that well means he would be a handful in a fight just from his physical condition alone, and that makes this form applicable in a real fight.

You know something, in my humble opinion, martial arts does not always have to be about self defence and fighting, but it can also be for exercise, fitness, and focus as well as for show. I'm no expert by any means, but I just don't see anything wrong with it. I think it's excellent.

So true! PLUS... This guy got good at "SanDa" really really fast becacue if his advanced coordination, fitness, speed, and flexibility. Most of these wushu kids learn full contact martial arts when they are older and pick up on it extremely fast. As a rule of thumb: Somebody who has done wushu since childhood can become a sanda champion within a few months, while somebody with no background will have to train at least 3-4 years in order to be able to compete at a high level.

You are very right, every martial arts does help keep the body in great shape. The thing that makes martial arts soooo effective is the unpredictability of it. A regular person is going to grab to take down straight down the line or punch straight down the line. A skilled fighter will break the line and then attack high or low.

Martial arts is for defense and fighting. Call it dancing, call is calisthenics or whatever but this is not martial arts regardless if you call it that or not. This is dancing that is marketed as martial arts to try and get people to pay money. It is like saying guns were made for target practice. No guns are made to protect yourself or hunt. They can be used for target practice but that is not the purpose. This is why people now days think karate, kung fu, etc are not good for self defense because greedy people ruined it. A bely can be used to restrain a person but it was made to hold your pants up.

Some of the commentators here are so ridiculous as if they know everything about martial arts. Yet they don't even know that kungfu and wushu are THE SAME THING. Kung fu actually means "male worker", wu shu means "the art of war" or "martial arts". Wushu is the present official name of kungfu. Bruce Lee was the one who used the term "kungfu" and made it become so popular. But wushu and kungfu are the same thing. Wushu also has its combat category, which is called sanshou/sanda, just like kumite in karate. If you guys still insist that martial arts is only for fighting and nothing else, then you have to start learning all over again. If you learn martial arts properly and from the right master of course, you should also gain self-control. mental strength, discipline and humility. I have been practising martial arts for more than 30 years, I am a former wushu athlete, my father is a wushu coach and yet I am still learning everyday. I also like to practise with my friends who have different martial arts background such as karate coach, taekwondo coach, muay thai coach and others. We like to learn from each other, not insult each other. Because that's what martial artists should do : learn from each other and be humble. I have also trained with a wushu grandmaster from China named Lie Decheng lao shi.

@sianitan6040

Hi Naori. Actually, all types of martial arts has its own uniqueness. But you can try learning taijiquan if u want to stay healthy as well. It may look slow and fragile, but believe me it still makes u sweat a lot if u do it properly. It is also a form of self-defense of course. In fact, taijiquan was created by Master Zhang San Feng, the founder of the Wudang clan and one of the greatest martial artists in the ancient China.

If caucasian ask, car disc-brake disc-caliper what size and how many pots... They should learn this eagle-claw and other claw techniques to figure out disc warping. Another gripping style for massage. Hand hold "dining plate", index finger initiate grip, max grip middle finger longer, fourth and fifth curls backwards release pressures, thumb on other side angles outwards to compensate. (Wrist rotate into "dining plate") Small caliper = 1 pot, big caliper = 1 pot (no initiate, no release), or else build your own caliper (with initiate and release). What will you recommend for disc brake calipers.?

These forms was invented to harness one agility quickness and to make it in a way that you could practise it everywhere. example taichi chuan is know to be a relax and good for health activity but it was previously a dangerous fighting arts but was slowed and put as this because the englishman forbiden the teaching of martial art but with that they were able to train and become stronger but from the eyes of an unknown it was just a dance or exercise

The heel of the palm IS MY uppercut or direct push to face area. A punch is a punch, a kick is a kick TO MANY OUT THERE not knowing there are a few out there with strikes yet to be highlighted in sport of fighting. The heel of palm CREATES MUCH DISABILTY after being targeted by such motions MEANT TO BE HIDDEN for the ones in US to survive , not win, of not looking for a fight ( this is attitude with public of younger adults and teens being MMA minded ) Yes, some know what Im referring to of a punch is just a punch, a kick just a kick as when Bruce Lee mentioned this, he was thinking about the hidden strikes of tradition of only being used in REAL SELF DEFENSE, not a match to be recorded for KZfaq of everybody wants to be a MMA Champ today.

The Concept of the form is being lost with modern teachers on two levels. 1) In 7th Century China the remote villager did not have access to the local chain gym and all the latest fade equipment. 2) Reflex action is still reinforced by repetition. To work on the form and perfection of the form leads to recall. 3) The form is not the sole training facet of martial arts- just as going to the driving range alone does not result in a good golf game. 4) In the form coordinating varied movements will lead to being able to string multiple complicated moves together fluidly...

Cody c IMO, every martial art is a form of structured street fighting. All the various martial arts were just interpretations of how to fight. They pretty much all teach the same thing but with some variation. For example things like Eagle claw or Tiger hand are designed to rend and tear muscle once you grapple or grab the person. In the end, it all looks like a brawl more or less. As ***** pointed out this is a display of skills that are martial related.
