WW2 Short film - A day into the Bulge

After almost a year,
we are finally proud to present to you "A day into the Bulge".
This is our first short film based on a true story during the battle of the Bulge, in the Ardennes in 1944.
This film was shot with no budget (2000€) in the woods near Bastogne, where we can still find foxholes.
All this was made thanks to all the people that helped us during the shooting. Without them we couldn't be here today !
We hope you will enjoy it, please share it as much as possible !
Next year we want to present "A day into the Bulge" in as much festivals as possible, so please help us to be known !

My uncle survived The Bulge, house to house firefights, and other adventures. Once on a solo patrol he had a German officer and a bunch of soldiers who were holed up in a castle surrender to him. He said the officer spoke better English than he did.

I'm actually impressed that he took the rifle and ammo, you see so many movies where they leave that stuff behind when in reality the soldiers would have at least taken the ammo.

The typical Hollywood rule is: if you're in danger, immediately throw away anything that could be of use to you, before running, especially if it's a weapon. And be sure to throw it away like it has cooties, or some disease promoting properties.

I felt sad for that guy, no one liked Clyde. I mean I know this is a film but god bless him and all the others who served in that war under those rough conditions.

My Grandpa Fought for General George Patton U.S. Third Army 94th Infantry Division WWll. He was Awarded a Silver Star, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. The Third Army was rushed North to reinforce and contain the bulge in the front lines. Combat Veterans had problems with being friends with replacements because the replacement was replacing their friends who had been killed in action. Being green to combat the replacement was most likely soon to be replaced himself.

One of the best WW2 short films I ever saw! I looked the film many times because it is such a good acting and very realistic. I hope that there are more films coming in the future :)

Very impressive short! I've just personally shot a World War II film during the Summer just gone which is currently in post-production, so it's great to see other filmmakers so passionate about the World War II themes. Congratulations on the film!

You guys did a great job with the equipment being a WWII militaria collector I love to see correct gear in these short films. The location, can't get anymore authentic than actually filming it in Belgium. The acting was great. The effects are awesome. You guys did a great job!

Great work! Impressive cinematography. Another example you don’t need 4K cinema cameras to produce high quality cinematography, and excellent job on the sound! Most shorts fall short on the sound quality and acting.

Amazing stuff! Impressive! You seem to have shot all of this with a Canon 5D DSLR. You manage to get a pretty good 24p filmish sense to the entire film. I also like the characters and the people acting. Good job!

Battle of the Bulge took place during winter. The patches worn on the left shoulder soldiers are not consistent. And I don't recall the Screaming Eagles, participated on the first night of the battle. They had to be rushed there by trucks, to cover the retreat of the infantry companies that got overrun by German crack tank and Waffen SS division. French accent got to me. But ok.

Overall ...... very well done ....... the French accent Americans kinda detracts from the film.... but given the fact that this was a short and i'm sure had a small budget I would have to give this film an enthusiastic thumbs up ! .... Well Done friends !!

This is a well made film with mostly good attention to detail but i noticed at 2.33 there are still laves on the deciduous trees and the weather was somewhat harsher in December so why didn't you wait until the conditions we more typical?

I really like this but where is all of the snow? I can’t be the only noticing this?! If it’s a day in to the bulge, that means it’s December 17th 1944, The place should be freezing and snowing a crap ton. Snow our not, I like this short film, it’s really cool

+Tim Less Yes it was, -26° in overall ! But we had 2000€ budget so no snow available, and it started to snow arround the 19th of december.

@@jonso2288 Another detail.....The Bulge was an area of little contact. Understrength units were meeting replacements but nothing was expected to happen. The snow might not have been an issue but active patrolling and artillery might not be expected.......STILL you tell a universal story..... joe

Very good photography (what camera did you use? Is that a 5D? what lens?). Very good the location. Terrible script. Nothing involving happens until almost 10 mins. Dialogs are empty and the main character is kinda too forced. AWESOME american equipment. Very very well done. German equipment...ok.. 7+ for me! Keep up the good work!!!

You should have used actors who spoke better native American English. American soldiers with obvious French accents is a bit weird.

The English is so comical that it genuinely detracts from the film. There is nothing comical about the subject matter. Voice overdubs are cost effective and would square this away quickly. Poor production decision.
