10:39 Knocked out German tanks on the main street of Villers-Bocage. The Tiger, with turret number 112 and a Panzer Iv were knocked out by either grenades or a Firefly, the Tiger in the foreground had turret number 121 and was knocked out by a Firefly after it ran into a house. Note that both the guns were sabotaged by the retreating Germans.
10:46 The same tanks in Villers-Bocage, after being bombarded and destroyed.
11:02 Several Tigers and Panzer IV tanks destroyed by aerial bombs.
11:18 Tiger I with turret number 334 from the SS-Pz.Abt. 101 at Rauray, was abandoned by it's crew after it was hit several times, this tank was captured in perfect running condition by the British and send to Bovington and was later scrapped.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank developed in 1937 by Henschel & Sohn when the Waffenamt requested Henschel to develop a Durchbruchwagen, this would result into the Durchbruchwagen I
which would never be fitted with a turret and was replaced by the Durchbruchwagen II after the request for a heavier 30-tonne class vehicle with thicker armour.
The project was dropped in 1938 in favor of the larger and better-armoured VK 30.01 (H) and VK 36.01 (H), these vehicles would use the complex over-engineered Schachtellaufwerk track suspension system of torsion bar-sprung, overlapped and interleaved main road wheels, which would later become problematic when jamming solid in the winter.
Four prototype hulls were completed for testing. Two of these were later modified to build the "Sturer Emil" self-propelled anti-tank guns.
In 1941 with the experience of the Battle of France, Henschel and Ferdinand Porsche were asked to submit designs for a 45-tonne heavy tank, to be ready by June 1942. Porsche worked on an updated version of their VK 30.01 (P) Leopard tank prototype while Henschel worked on an improved VK 36.01 (H) tank. Henschel built two prototypes: a VK 45.01 (H) H1 with an 8.8 cm L/56 cannon, and a VK 45.01 (H) H2 with a 7.5 cm L/70 cannon.
Porsche and Henschel submitted prototype designs, each making use of the Krupp-designed turret. The Henschel design was accepted, mainly because the Porsche VK 4501 (P) prototype design used a troubled petrol-electric transmission system.
Production of the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. H began in August 1942.
The tank was given its nickname "Tiger" by Ferdinand Porsche, and the Roman numeral was added after the Tiger II entered production.
The initial designation was Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausführung H was re-designated as PzKpfw VI Ausf. E in March 1943.
The Tiger was still at the prototype stage when it was first hurried into service, and therefore changes both large and small were made throughout the production run. A redesigned turret with a lower cupola was the most significant change. To cut costs, the river-fording submersion capability and an external air-filtration system were dropped.
It would first see action near Leningrad on 23 Sep. 1942 months earlier than had been planned. A platoon of 4 Tigers went into action, they could not operate in swampy, forested terrain, their movement was largely confined to roads and tracks, also many of these early models were plagued by problems with the transmission and many broke down, the Soviets also captured one Tiger largely intact, it enabled the Soviets to study the design and prepare countermeasures.
In the North African Campaign, the Tiger I first saw action during the Tunisian Campaign on 1 December 1942 east of Tebourba. The tanks proved that they had excellent protection from enemy fire, this greatly increased the crews trust in the quality of the armour, the crews also found the tank to be spacious and comfortable.
The Tiger proved to have great armament and was a outstanding design for its time, its armour which was resistant to tank and anti-tank guns of the time. and the 88 could knock out enemy Sherman tanks at 2,100 m and the T-34 at 1500 m, but with Allied tanks becoming more up-armored and upgraded and having better guns like the M3 90 mm cannon used on the M36 tank destroyer, made the Tiger vastly obsolete in the end.

I had to re-upload this video because it was hit with 'Limited adds' and eventually shadow banned. But why Limited adds.? I think it's because KZfaq has placed this channel on alert and is deliberately hitting these videos before it's even done uploading yet. What does Limited adds mean? It means that it will not get the views it would normally get and the video will fall out off KZfaq's algorithm. Most of the time it will get adds back after review, sadly that's not working anymore. So i'm getting demonetized without breaking the KZfaq guidelines. As a result my channel has been slowly dying and I really have no motivation to make any new videos and probably aren't going to anytime soon. Also most of the extra information in the comments, I always implemented is gone, just to not piss off the broken YT Bots even more.

@@vikingcockney.69 "I cannot see why KZfaq is attacking your channel " Because it has content related to ww2 Germany 🤷🏻‍♀️ it's a stupid reason, I know, especially when communism related content is allowed. If people are gonna worship either of those ideologies, they will do it anyway, such videos really aren't to blame.

@@fabiana7157 I agree highly, Fabiana. they need to realise that WW2 happened whether we like it or not. There will always be someone who doesn't agree with historical content and they are fully encouraged to kindly and sweetly, f*ck off and let the rest of us enjoy it. As long as it's not supporting, glamourising or promoting illegal behaviour, KZfaq should back off. I hope you have a great day 🙂

Yes they hate this kind of content. And yes they want to rewrite the history in their benefit... Which I belive they actually mostly did.

Almost mythical and legendary. A relative who was in the RTR told me his crews were terrified of these things but panthers were the bigger risk and slightly better tank. Still, nothing beats the Tiger for its legendary status. Impressive and fearsome even today.

Face to face in open ground I would think the Tiger would prevail over the Panther. But a cat and mouse game in wooded or urban areas I believe the Panther win. I don't think as one being better than the other. They both had their attributes, and down falls. I will say the Panther is definitely a more practical tank. But the Tiger does hold the title for the pucker factor.

@@jeffussery4884 you are absolutely correct. In open country the sight of a Tiger would turn anyone's khaki's brown. The reason my grandpa said a panther was slightly better was due to it being able to penetrate more armour at combat distances, the ability to travel when the gearbox was well maintained and the fact they could traverse bridges that tigers could not. Either way, I am mightily impressed by both tanks. 🙂

@@vikingcockney.69 Bridges hampered Gen. Peiper in the battle of the Bulge. He had the King Tiger which was a Panther on steroids, but it was plagued by the same problems as the Tiger 1. Heavy, slow, under powered, not vary maneuverable, or reliable. But it had a great gun.

@@jeffussery4884 the King had the same engine as the Tiger I but twenty odd tons heavier. It was never going to be practical, but you have to love the insanity of it. Same as the Maus for me. Useless but awesome personified.

@@vikingcockney.69 One thing I never understood, why Maybach ever develop a better engines for the tanks. The one thing that the Nazis built that was completely insane, the 80 cm Gustav Rail Gun. You have to love the insanity of that behemoth. Or the giant tank they wanted to put a Tirpitz turret on. Imagine something like that coming at you.

Reading your comment was depressing but not surprising, this has been going on for quite a while, I understand why you aren't motivated to make new videos, while that's sad it's also understandable, I just wanna say that I cherish all the videos on this channel and I just hope that you'll never delete it/the videos on it. I want them to stay here on KZfaq forever, so I can watch them whenever I can (the fact that I don't have a lot of time to spend on KZfaq these days really makes me sad tbh). You are awesome and what happened definitely wasn't your fault, KZfaq is seriously flawed, that's all.. because weird videos are allowed, but something related to ww2 gets so many restrictions I suppose your subs including me also failed you to a degree, sorry

This is definitely not Carius. The commander (9:20-9:31) is wearing the uniform of Waffen-SS Hauptsturmführer, whereas Otto Carius served in the Wermacht 502 batallion. Also, he was never awarded with swords to the Knight's cross. Due to the only german tank commander awarded with the swords is the Black baron (Michael Wittmann) this is the footage of him on the western front preparing for one of his last battles, as Wittman died in combat a few weeks after receiving the swords.
