WWII Plane Wreckage Of Vought Corsair Lough Foyle Co. Londonderry Northern Ireland.

WWII Plane Crash Site & Wreckage F4U Corsair Fighter. This Vought F4U Corsair fighter (serial number: JT693). The pilot survived, though injured.The remains of a World War Two plane can be seen on Lough Foyle.
The Vought Corsair, an American fighter aircraft, crashed into Lough Foyle close to Ballykelly on 9th October 1944.
Local historians have said the crash happened due to engine failure.
The Canadian pilot reportedly survived the crash but was injured.

An interesting piece of history. Around Europe there are many wrecks remaining from the war, but this out in the mudflat is quite spectacular and you get the really good view thanks to your drone. Well done recording this piece of history:)

Great close footage, Rod! Interesting story (especially as a Canadian), and amazing anything is left. BTW, my father was a navigator on flying boats during the war, stationed in Scotland. One day I'll do a video about when they had to ditch it near Spain.
