I am a fan of trains! My Grandfather worked for CNR (Canadian National Railway). In 1947 he bought a box car and added on to his home making the 2 ends bedrooms and the middle of the car a living area with a T.V. I love this episode and I think my Grampa would've too if he were alive to see it

DOGS!❤🤗 They're so cute! But back to the railcar.😂 The design is very cool and the interior fits the outside perfectly. They used the space very well and it's way much brighter in there than I thought.😲 I like your way to show the surrounding first and than the home itself.👍 My favorite part is the the kitchen. Again. (Sorry) I love the way it looks and that you wanna start doing something there immediatly.❤ But the whole thing is so welcoming and cozy, with a great rustic touch.

And the table near windows with chair great idea toh have breakfast specially when it's raining. Bathroom is big... N I like that flooring too.... Deck and that fire place in cold evening. 😍

I lived in a railroad boxcar/ on private property, when I was little. It had to be pre wwII as we lived there during the war years. This is very cool. I'd love to hear the story of how they got it, and how they got approved to set it there. I'll try to do some research.

It was a troop train kitchen car from 1943 to 1955. The military mothballed it from 1955 to 1974 when it was brought back to serve the Strategic Air Command as a mobile communications platform. The Colonel in the Air Force (and former owner of our house) bought it at Military Surplus in Florida in 2005. He brought it to the house via rail and then trucked it to the property and set it on the 125' of rail he laid with the original intent to make it a guest house but never ended up doing anything with it. We inherited the car with the purchase of the property in 2016 and spent 8 months taking it from rusting hulk to what it is today.

Interesting. A WW2 troop sleeper. Converted to a baggage car With windows plated over. Converted back to a sleeper with windows added back for a BNB. The stories that car could tell.

It was actually a kitchen car during WWII and then retired. In 1974 the Strategic Air Command retrofitted it into a communications car during the Cold War. Definitely a lot of stories!
