Hi. I am John’s mom. I can assure you that we did EVERYTHING in our power to help him. John was an amazing soul who put everyone before himself. He was being watched and it took a split second for his grandmother to go get a glass of water and he pulled the trigger. We had no idea he had a hidden gun. All guns were locked up and accounted for just like they asked us to ensure. He went to my moms because they were close and we thought it would be a good decompression time for him as he had two younger siblings at home. I shared his story to raise awareness and hopefully get mental health care reformed so no one else has to endure this pain. Please instead of being negative share his story so that it makes a difference for future patients.

@@SolarsidofavEXACTLY!! I actually just watched a different video of a woman who voluntarily admitted herself and when she asked to be released they refused to let her out and said they would go to court to get orders to keep her there, fast forward.....she didn't need to be there anymore and was able to be released after contacting the news station. Here we have a kid who needs to be there, so they make him go home and he kills himself. It's so discouraging. 😢

On either ends of seeking help, the so-called "professionals" DO NOT listen. I was admitted after seeking help for being an abuse victim. I did everything to explain to the doctors, nurses, therapists, psychiatrist and still no one listened. I'm now left to deal with additional emotional & mental trauma from my experience in a psychiatric facility while still trying to get help to deal with my abuser. Something has to change

@@Blender.bunker Turn to bible and allow CHRIST to be your therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist. No man nor women fits to be one. All are sinners and without glory, all are tempted and suffer the same. All are expected to REPENT AND BORN AGAIN, to LIVE HOLY AND GO AND SIN NO MORE. All are weak in the daily fight between their spirit and flesh. All these therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist, this world provides, can do is: to deceive and steal. They deceived you through all these “diagnoses” and they steal your money, through all the pills which you “need”. In short: they poison your mind and your overall health, leaving you with neither one. Therapist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist = Field where no human soul, never ever going to fit of being an help, no matter the among of years spend in “medical schools” or the decree gotten from there. ALL of us are daily deceived, no matter the walks of life. Do not trust one nor to try to be one. 1 John 4:1 KJV Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. I would really love to know what kind of insurance they had. 30 years ago my parents couldn't get me out of Pine Rest they had amazing Insurance. My Heart Breaks for this Moma and Family and Friends. I understand what her son was going through. I really wished we had a better Mental Health system that cared for their patients and not the Money.

I’ve been in there. I wonder if their insurance was unwilling to continue paying since it had been about two weeks. Typical stay is about 5-7 days. Wouldn’t be surprised if they pushed him out because of it.

Part of the reason this happens is because people working in these fields are not competent. They just need a paycheck so they go to work everyday, do what they have to im order to get through the day, collect their paycheck and it continues on from there. They probably couldn't even tell you 10 patients names. But when visitors come they act likr thry have it all together and hope no one finds out. And that happens in a lot of places unfortunately.

I was in a long term state hospital for 9 months. The hospital traumatized mean. 3 weeks after being released I stole medication that wasn't mine and tried to overdose. My mom found me not feeling good because my blood pressure was dropping quickly. I ended up back in the hospital and I ended up going to a long term residential treatment facility. The residential saved my life. The people there were kind and listened to me as best as they could. I also did not make it easy for them as I was afraid of trusting new people. I was there for 2 years and 7 months. I graduated high school thanks to them. I'm now enrolled in a program to become a veterinary assistant.

I can say from personally it took many thing before the right things was found to help me but I am glad it was found. Because otherwise this could have been my story.

That hospital should be sanctioned or something and whoever signed off on his release, whoever told his mother she'd be charged with child abandonment if she didn't pick him up that day, should be terminated and the doctor perhaps should be charged with negligent homicide or wanton endangerment. That's just my opinion.

The system totally failed him. But these hospitals are completely overwhelmed by millions of suicidal Americans everyday, all of whom have threatened self-harm. It's impossible to give each patient the real care they need, generally they are out of the hospital in 5 days because thats what the insurance will cover. I used to drive an ambulance in las vegas and 20% of all calls are people threatening self harm. Doesnt help that half the patients are homeless and just trying to get a room and food.

Closer communities, neighbors, friendships, family, earlier marriages... These basics are needed. Not some artificial, synthetic counterfeit. Whether suppressive drugs stopping the body from neurologically adapting intelligently to this country's insane "normal" cities or a person who you pay for them to pretend (under impersonal professional boundaries) that they're your friend.

Why did the boy want to end his life? What did he say about that? I ask because we don't know if this was a mental health issue only or a life issue or both. After being away so long he needed his mom it is not her fault but i could never just let my son stay over at a realitives like in his situation and not be right by his side with this kind of condition and feelings that were like a yo yoi would of kept him closer to me know matter what it took so sad i feel her pain and understand it i wish her the best and will pray for her for peace 5:09

However in this case he told em they just aint listen, the amount of people who are severely suffering from this will only say they will do it but dont, sometimes just sometimes you get that one thats genuine
