Wyatt, was the Ford County Sheriff when Bat Masterson was the Dodge City town Marshall. The replica of the town is actually Boot Hill Cementery the City cut out the cemetery to to build the replica. They moved most of the graves out to the present day cemetery leaving a few at the original site for tourists. Squirrel tooth Alice was moved to the present day cemetery, she was the “maiden of the night “ that Miss Kitty was based off of for the television show. I haven’t been back to Dodge City since 1987, so was a treat to see it again. Thank you.

I was sent to Dodge City in 1981 as my first duty station as a Kansas State Trooper. I retired and still live here. Southwest Kansas has become my home.

I love it. Good job! I recently read a book titled "Dodge City: Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, And The Wickedest Town In The American West" by Tom Clavin. I recommend it for anyone interested in that era of our history.

I did not discover Tombstone until around 2010. But in the last 15 years, there is no movie I have watched more times than that Western Classic. "Why Johnny Ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave."

Glad you came to visit us. We have so much to offer here in Dodge City. I might add that the Depot houses one of the best theater companies around. Our dinner theater productions run year round. The Depot was also one of the famous Harvey houses. Tours are given for the Depot as well. Add it to your list of must sees. Depot Thater Co.

Our last day of the 6th grade at NW Elementary our whole class biked to Boot Hill. They used to have a bunch of those machines like Clean Clara in the back of the Long Branch. I know because a bunch of us 12 year old boys found them. Thanks for the memories and for the new stuff I haven't seen.

Front street used to be where the parking lots are along Wyatt Earp downtown. It ran from Ave.B west to 7th street. When I was a kid, my dad used to take me with him to all the bars and taverns on Front Street. The one I remember the most was Goddard's Pool Hall, they always had a bottle of Chocolate Soldier for me. Later on, after being old enough to drink, (I was 18 in 1969) I went to some of the same bars that were still open at the time (I even played pool at Goddard's) this would have been in the late sixties, early seventies. I left Dodge City in 1984.

Garden City is Dodhe Cities rival. We are growing faster because of the intersection of highway 83 north and south. Highway50 Santa Fe Trail. We were known for the largest cement swimming pool for 100 years. Wyatt Earp my hero.

All this happened 100 years before I was born, Thank God for big favors! I never would have survived no air conditioning!

I worked on a film in Italy with one of the actors in Tombstone named Frank Stallone. Sitting down one evening eating dinner he mentioned having just finished working in that film.

I live in SW Missouri and last year, I went over to Lamar for Wyatt Earp days. He lived there for a little while and his first wife, Urilla, is buried at the very rural Howell Cemetery that's just a few miles north and east of Lamar. Visiting that little cemetery and seeing her grave was a very interesting and somewhat sad adventure. She was so young to have died, taking her and Wyatt's unborn child with her in death. So the story goes, this is what caused Wyatt to become an outlaw as time passed. There were other women in his life but none ever took Urilla's place.

Did he mention that he is a fan of the Tombstone Movie? He's a Daisy if he did. Yeah...me too. Best Western Ever!

Dodge City was one of my favorite places to visit as a child. . .I'm from Colorado and when we went on vacation my Dad made sure that we stopped on the way back home. The area seems to have definitely changed since the 1960s and 1970s. . .there were a lot more things to see and visit. I remember a beautiful house across the street that housed a candy shop. . .and the museum had a glass casket with a skeleton in it. . .I had messaged them awhile back and was told that they had to take out that display (sad face) and that most all of the people buried in Boot Hill have been moved elsewhere. . .not sure why this happened. . .guess no matter how hard we don't want things to change, they do. . .haven't been back to Boot Hill since the early 70s. . .thanks for sharing this video. . .be safe !!

If you are in KS you need to go to these couple of sites. Ft. Larnard in Larnard KS is great. It is very restored to how it was back in the 1870s. Then go to Abiline. It has the Eisenhower Museum. The homes there look like they did back then. At Ft. Riley there is the cavalry museum.. It shows the history of the Army in the west. Then go to Lecompton, outside of Lawrence. It was the first territorial capital. There was a small battle there before the civil war between slavers and free state people. Then drive down to Osawatomie. That was the home of John Brown.

The set of the TV show Gunsmoke was an exact replica of Dodge City. Buck Taylor, who played Newly O'Brian on the show heads the restoration of Dodge City. He is the voice on the informational recordings there. There really was a woman who ran the Longbranch Saloon, although her name was Lily (if I remember correctly) instead of Kitty.

At the beginning of the video, you were looking at an exhibit of guns. Have you ever been to Cody, Wyoming? If not, you should go. There is a whole museum there that is filled with pistols, rifles etc. that have been dug up in and around Cody. Awesome video. I have been to this museum, but its interesting to see another go through.

Very interesting. I have long been fascinated by Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. I remember driving through the tiny town of Earp, CA about 15 years or so ago. It’s right on the CA/AZ state line.

Been there many times to gamble but did not know of the museum. Will have to look it up next time i travel down there. Before i become a daisy.

The likeness between Wyatt Earp and Kurt Russell (The actor that portrayed Wyatt Earp in Tombstone) still amazes me.

I visited Dodge City a few years ago. There is a Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame where I actually found the name of my 6th grade teacher, Mrs. McGregor. I'm 80 yrs old. That was a cool experience.

There is a Dentist office in Crestview Florida that has Doc Holidays original dental chair from his time as a dentist before going out west.

I live here in Dodge City. The train station has been converted to a Dinner theater and one of the buildings is one of our best restaurants, Central Station. :)

20 some years ago I spent a summer in Dodge. Locals seemed to have more respect for Matt Dillon than Wyatt earp or bat Mattson combined. Visited boot hill museum and unimpressed. Hit some of the local bars and learned alot!

So great to see you come to my home state of Kansas. Not a big traveling destination but there are a couple of good museums that I’ve been to in the area. I recommend the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, KS; Dwight Eisenhower Presidential Museum in Abilene, KS; Harry Truman Presidential Museum in Independence, MO; WW I Museum in Kansas City, MO; and The Winston Churchill Museum in Hannibal, MO.

Not only Tombstone but 3:10 to Yuma. The scene where Dan Evan's (christian bale) teenage son asks Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) "have you been to Dodge?" is epic too. Ben Wade's description is colorful XD, with lines like "women will do things to you..", complete with the gulp' from the kid was brilliant.

Wyatt’s birth name was Whyoo Burp, He changed it to Wyatt Earp when he turned 21.

As far as Clay Allison - that is probably not a photo of him, there are a number of known photos and to be honest they look nothing like this one (this one is widely attributed but probably mistakenly). And most of his 'work' was done with a pair of Colt Navies.

The statue that is missing (unless something has changed) is Dodge City native Dennis Hopper.

Wyatt was only a Deputy Marshal for a few months in Dodge City, and they have a statue of him?? For tourism no doubt. And there were several men firing at the cowboys that night as they rode out of town in the dark street. Nobody knows who's bullet struck Hoy. It could have been Matt Dillon, or even Chester's bullet for all we know.
