00:00 Intro
00:33 Preparing the wet ingredients
02:06 Adding the dry ingredients
03:19 Mixing together the ingredients
05:12 Mixing the dough by hand
07:02 Letting the dough rise
08:03 Rolling out the dough
11:03 Finishing up the loaves
12:49 Tasting the bread
INGREDIENTS
- 2 tbsp white granulated sugar
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cups boiling water
- 6-7 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp (1 pkg) instant yeast
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the sugar, salt, butter, and boiling water. Allow the butter to melt and stir to dissolve the sugar and salt.
- When the mixture has cooled off to between 100°F and 110°F, add 6 cups of flour and the instant yeast. Using the dough hook on the mixer, knead the dough on medium speed for 5 minutes.
- After the dough has kneaded, stop the mixer and check the dough. If it is shaggy and sticking to the sides of the bowl, add 1/4 cup of the reserved flour. Work the flour into the dough for 2-3 minutes and check again, adding more flour as needed.
- When the dough starts to clear the sides of the mixing bowl and cling to the dough hook, remove it from the mixer. Sprinkle 1 tbsp flour on the counter and knead the dough, pushing it away, then folding it back on itself, and repeating the process. The dough should slightly stick to the counter when sitting but easily become smooth when being kneaded.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled large bowl and cover. Set the bowl in a warm place, such as an oven that has been warmed to 100°F and turned off. Allow the dough to rise until doubled, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down. Split into two even amounts. Working with one piece at a time, roll the dough into a 10-inch by 13-inch rectangle. Roll the dough up lengthwise, like rolling cinnamon rolls or a jelly roll. Pinch the seam tightly as well as the ends to seal. Set the loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet pan with the seam side down and the pinched ends placed underneath the loaf. Repeat with the second piece of dough.
- Beat the egg in a small bowl until smooth. Brush the loaves with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if using. Use a sharp knife to make five diagonal 1/2-inch deep cuts in each loaf. Place the loaves in a warm place to rise for 1 hour. Also, preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Once the dough has risen, place the loaves in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-30 minutes until the bread is a deep golden color on the top and bottom. If using an instant-read thermometer, the center of the bread should read 200°F once baked. Remove the loaves from the oven and cool for 30 minutes before slicing.

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do.

@outdoor lady- first, hoping this finds you well and the storm passing you by. Second, this would be a great way to both warm the house and fill it with the wonderful aroma of fresh bread and would also be great served along with one of Kaleb's soups or stews- he has some really good ones. God Bless you and Keep you Safe in HIS Loving Embrace. Have an AWESOME week ahead.

I love homemade bread. This looks amazing, I'm trying it today. Making bread does take practice. The first few times I made bread, you bust out a window with it. I had to learn bread making on my own. Kaleb, you have saved many from having rock-hard bread. You are a fantastic teacher. Thank you for these wonderful videos.

I make bread 2 to 3 times a week, because we LOVE it! ❤️ My recipe is very similar to yours! I use honey instead of sugar, and sometimes coconut oil instead of butter...just to switch it up a little! But the rest is exactly like yours! There are so many folks out there that are afraid of bread making, but you just made it so simple and easy for them! THANK YOU!

I have always made it the old fashioned way…kneading completely by hand…only this last time did I use my kitchen aid to knead my dough! Oh why did I wait?? It’s wonderful!!! I learned from my Grandma; the best yeast bread baker and yeast donut maker ever!! Please keep making your kind, thoughtful and informative videos!! Looks great! I came to your channel to verify the rise time as I used another KZfaq recipe and she said to let it rise for 15 to 20 minutes on the counter. Needless to say that wasn't nearly enough time. I made rolls a long time ago and I remembered it should have been at least 1 hour or until doubled in size. As it turns out this style of bread is about the same.

My mother never made bread. I started experimenting shortly after I was married (I got for a bridal shower gift). I made bread all the time while raising my 3 kiddos. I remember their little bodies...waiting patiently...for me to cut the warm bread and smear it with butter and (homemade of course) strawberry jam. Then, when they got a little older, and could measure ingredients, we got a bread machine so they could make bread themselves. My daughter was actually the first one in our county (in Ohio) to use a bread machine for her Bread's 4-H project. Even with a hole in it (she had a good answer!) she got an A and placed at the county fair. To this day, when they're all over for dinner, the strawberry jam always gets put on the table if I've made fresh bread, rolls or biscuits.
