This is one of my old Wyze cam V2 camera's that lived outside for two years. I had it stuck via its magnet to a metal disc that was secured to some siding with some 3M tape. It was totally exposed to the elements of the Eastern USA.
Late last summer, I power washed the siding and the cameras. A few months later, this camera stopped responding. I had replaced it with a new Wyze Cam V3 but figured it was worth a look over in case it was something repairable. The connector had become corroded and lost it's connection. I didn't have any standup micro-usb and since this is a $25(new) camera, I was not spending any money on parts. I dug into the scrap box and harvested a flat mount connector from a dead WeMo board.
Some creative soldering later and I had a working camera again.
The camera currently monitors one of my 3D printers as you will see at the end of the video. The V2 camera can be had pretty cheaply on eBay. The fact that this camera was the only one of the 6 that I definitely hit with a power washer, to fail is a testament to the design. The V2 is not outside rated. Wyze makes no claims of their ability to do so, but I did it anyway and to this day I still have a few V2s that are approaching 2 years 6 months as of this video and they still work perfectly.
Hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!
