Jimmy what is the difference between 750 small pin and large pin ? love the channel What is the best year 750 stand up to get early 90s single or duel carb
@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 11 ай бұрын
It is just the connecting rod bearing sizes. The original 750 engine (1992) when it first came out had smaller (normal) size rod bearings. Race engine builders would spin them 9000 rpm with way high compression, and break crankshafts, so in 1995 Kawasaki updated the cranks with bigger rod bearings and wrist pins and called it the "big pin" and used that set up all the way through the 2011 sxr800. 99% of people will never use a small pin to it's potential, so I am not sure why there is all the hype. The best 750 stand up by far is the 98-02 sxi Pro. Amazing ski. We will be doing one on the channel soon. (it is the one in my rack that looks like it has been painted Russian camo LOL).

WOW❗️Do you purposely want the bottom rough, I would think you would want it as slick as possible ? Back in the 70’s a friend’s neighbor had a 15 or 16’ wooden race boat that he race in a 50 or 75 hp class in Mission Bay San Diego. Sometimes he would have the boat upside down in his driveway polishing the bottom using about a 3 foot long 4x4 covered with 600 or 1000 grit paper and soapy water.. I remember him saying if you were to glue a paper match to the bottom it would slow the boat several miles per hour.

Really love your channel Jim! Where is the exhaust outlet on this X-2? Its been a long time but I seem to remember that with the stock location, left turns were always a bit off as there wasn't as much grip on that side of the boat. Maybe I'm remembering wrong though...I haven't been on an X-2 for close to 30 years.
@jetskijim007

@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 10 ай бұрын
That's Awesome!!! I bet it rips! I have ridden a few K1's , The only problem is they all handle differently. No 2 are the same, so you can't think like someone who owns a mass produced ski. You can't ask 10 people who own one, and eight of them say "this particular ride plate or intake grate works the best" and go with that. There is only one intake grate. There is only one ride plate. The only thing you can do is shim them and change nozzle angle, and handlepole length to get the handling you want.
@precisesolutions8120
@precisesolutions8120 10 ай бұрын
@@jetskijim007 yes it does fun to ride. so im guessing the k1 is because they were hand layed up . ill try a few thing and see how it goes .it sure rips in the corners but gets loose when coming out of them think ive got to much nose pressure . Thanks for the help

Question off topic. I have a 650 swapped to small pin 750 running without water box. Any thing I should be concerned about besides loudness? I’ve heard mix reviews on running a ski w/o a box from hydro locking to over revving just wondering your thoughts
@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 11 ай бұрын
you will lose top end. You do need some back pressure at higher rpm to keep the pipe efficient. Get a resonator, and play with injecting water into it. You will find a spot where the engine will just keep pulling.

@jetskijim007 what's the best older ski to buy and have fun modifying? I'm comfortable and pretty good with fiberglass, welding, and engine repairs. We currently ride motocross and after watching one of your videos about the risk we take got me really interested in skis. The best part of moto for me is modifying and rebuilding the bikes me and my son ride but theres only so much you can do to a dirtbike. I'd prefer a machine with good aftermarket support and cost effective.
@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 10 ай бұрын
There really isn't a bad choice of ski's built after 1990.. They all have strength's and weaknesses. Probably Superjet for aftermarket support, but not cheap by any means.

@@jetskijim007 what your thoughts on the wave blaster or x2? I'm really intrigued by the idea of a sit down and stand up combination type ski. The seem more like a motorcycle where you can sit down and hang over the side to turn but stand up to absorbs impacts. I definetly dont want anything to do with the newer giant sit downs.
@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 10 ай бұрын
@@bradgraham8272 yes, to both, and later the waveblaster2. They are all amazing. The x2 is a lot more lay over and drag the bars than the blaster, but the blaster shines in the ocean/surf for sure. They are all difficult to mount, though, and it will take persistence to master, but well worth it.

What are the pros and cons of air filters on a race ski. Seems unnecessary for filters on the water.
@jetskijim007
@jetskijim007 11 ай бұрын
Those are not actually air filters. They are flame arrestors, required by the coast guard, so when your ski backfires, it diffuses the flame, as not to cause an explosion if there are any gas fumes in your hull...
