In my opinion, they made him end like that so he can help Mulder with X and The Lone Gunmen as ghosts in S09 finale "The Truth".

He played Krycek's complexities so well. I understood where Krycek stood on the blurred line between the FBI and the Consortium. Mulder realized that he was too important to just kill and even rescued him from the concentration camp in Russia. In the end, it was the only time I ever felt upset that a bad guy was killed off on a TV show.

In the end he just wanted to survive.

It’s almost hard to believe that this was actually the final end for Alex Krycek. But I suppose that his villainous role had gone as far as it could go. Nicholas Lea played it very well.

I had it in for him the moment he killed the cable car operator. The look on his face made me despise him. Skinner should have riddled his body with bullets before putting the last shot between the eyes.

Leslie James IMHO Marita did it deliberately. She seduced him and after that stole the boy, who was infected with black oil, and whom Krycek wanted to use to blackmail the "Syndicate". (5x13 "Patient X")

Leslie James I agree. Krycek was a ruthless villain from the beginning, he deserved death. I started to hate him when he told CSM the memorable sentence: "Scully’s a problem. A much larger problem than you described."

Yep. A greater villain than CSM. Season 9 was shit. And Mulder wasnt in it. So Krycek wouldnt fit in without Mulder. Al though he did appear as a ghost during Mulders trial in the two final episodes of season 9. Here he has both hands and he helps Mulder.

That's a shame. I love the X-Files, but I find it makes me feel really happy and uplifted. Weird how differently things can affect people. 🤔

Nah Krycek put Skinner through hell. He beat Skinner up and blackmailed him. He also killed Mulders dad and participated in Melissa's death. He had no 'peaceful' way out.

They should have had Mulder, Scully and Skinner kill him together. They all deserved a crack at him.

i think Krycek's character had such loyalty to the syndicate and was hoping he would be a heir of some sort but they treated him like shit and just a mercenary that was expendable. This made him mad and become completely out for himself. Yet he had some sort of need to still be the syndicate golden boy. I think in his own warped mind by killing Mulder leaves Scully defenseless, even with Dogett and Skinner helping her, because Mulder will stop at nothing to protect her and there is no limit. Taking Mulder out of the equation and killing CSM means he can gain more power and maybe continue the conspiracy as an important member. Also Kyrcek hates and is jealous of Mulder because of the weird respect CSM had for him (he's the prodigal son) and Krycek is like the neglected middle child. I think maybe Krycek has no loyalties in the end and will go with whatever is the winning side. Helping the aliens is probably an attempt at an alliance of some sorts. But tomorrow when the wind changes if he didn't die here, he'd probably change his mind again.

His surname is a Czech sounding name and pronounced identically to the name Krajiček. they were trying to make a name using that word. If you want a native Russian speaker to correctly pronounce his name you need to write it as Крайчек (kraychek)

please he was a mercenary through and through. "For the greater good" LOL Ratboy was out for himself and turned coat like the seasons change. Nothing was for the greater good. It was about gaining power in whatever way he could. He would allay himself with the side that could serve his chosen interests at the time. Loving Krycek as a despicable entertaining character is fine and dandy. He was was interesting and fun but trying to turn him into a hero or anti-hero shows total cluelessness for the show and characters. Krycek was a ratboy through and throug, and killed Bill Mulder in cold blood, aided in Scully being taken from Mulder, was an accomplice in Melissa Scully's death (which was actually meant to be Scully FYI) and that's just only a few of the despicable actions he took over the series. Mulder/Scully are our heroes and anything that threatens them or hurts them is a bad thing and not heroic.
