Dear friends
After featuring JB, it’s quite obvious that I’d head to Singapore, although some fans are already requesting for it. Even though I worked in Singapore in the 70s but most of the stalls I frequented had closed. Thankfully I had my old colleague Henry, my ex-classmate YK and my daughter Ella who’s a Singapore PR to introduce me to the exciting new places. Because there were quite a number of stalls covered in 4 days, putting all the features in one video could be quite long, so I decided to break the Singapore episode into two parts. This is obviously a first for me, hope you’ll find it compelling. Meanwhile please go out to support our local street food. Thanks and catch you in the sequel.

Hey Elmo, read what you wrote in the Happy Garden video. Been following your video but I just found out about your well written texts. Anyway, came to suggest that you might want to consider your next SG update video to have more English. Why? So that we can recommend to our SG friends. Just a thought that I am hoping that it would be helpful. Finally, since I'm here... Dinner or supper videos maybe? 🤔😀 Just hoping that this is a moral support and helpful comments. Haters will hate .. no matter how small or insignificant the issues could be. Please stay safe & watch your SOP . Its incredible that you are in your 70s and still active, its truly a blessing . Those haters just ignore , they are just not sincere and like you say , constructive criticism is accepted but not to the point of being abusive and rude . My father is in his 80s, enjoys technologies and watches you tube regularly, infact sometimes he watches your channel. Still in his infancy stage but this is what keeps him going. It's great to you see you enjoy your holidays and reuniting with your schoolmates and close friend while sampling great from from Singapore.

What is your opinion on Singapore and Malaysian cuisine? It is fascinating to see the similarities from their shared past and also differences over the 60 year divergence. Sad to say, most of Singapore's authentic street food vendors are slowly fading and newer generations are choosing not to carry on their legacy. The same cannot be said about Malaysia though. As a Singaporean, I often travel across the border to Malaysia to reminisce what Singapore might have felt and tasted like in the past, during my parents era. To be honest, I sometimes don't feel like I am even in a different country when I am in Malaysia. Culturally, both are almost identical and we speak the same languages and dialects.

Keong Siak Road used to be jokingly called "Ah Kong Chet Kai" which literary mean grandpa's favourite chicken". Also when the boisterous Teochew Cymbals Band called "lo koo" which usually accompany a funeral procession passes by, the Cantonese will joke that the deceased died because of "chang chang seck chok mo sek fan". That sounded like the sound of the music played by the band.

The dessert at one of the stalls visited looks really good - Yatt Lau !!! Last note - no need to hear what others tell you on using face mask (when to use or when not to use). Mr. Lee - No need to envy Singapore. Having traveled to Singapore and Malaysia multiple times and being an outsider, I can say Malaysians are so much nicer and friendlier than Singaporeans. Thus, I would visit Malaysia again and again.

In a sense, food can’t be objectively judged as tastier because taste is rather subjective and our taste buds may change with time. However, some food could be healthier than others and you look quite healthy.

Both Malaysia and Singapore food are delicious but one dish that stands out in Singapore in my opinion is the lor mee. I tried the lor mee in Penang but could not get used to the spice in the dish. I like the lor mee in Singapore and there are a few good lor mee stores there.
