I was pissed when the Sox traded Mookie away... but this one hurts even more. Xander was the most consistent hitter on the Red Sox for years, and he only got better every year. For Padres fans who might not be familiar with him, take it from a lifelong Sox fan: you're absolutely getting a good hitter in this guy. I'll be tuning in to Padres opening day to see his first at bat. I'm a Xander fan for life.

As a Red Sox fan, I will never forgive the front office for what they have been doing to this team for the past few years. Mookie getting traded to LA, Benintendi getting traded to Kansas City, Renfroe getting traded to Milwaukee, Schwarber signing with Philly, Vazquez getting traded to Houston, and now Xander signing with San Diego. This isn’t a small market team like Tampa. The Red Sox have an awful lot of value. The fact that they didn’t pay these players is inexcusable. And guess what? Devers hits free agency next offseason, watch them hold up on his pay as well. I watched all of Bloom’s press conferences and he was constantly talking about Xander Bogaerts being the top priority. The guy’s a liar just like the rest of the front office. Cares more about money than his own team. They did him the same way they did the others. They kept screwing him until he has finally had enough and didn’t show any remorse. The fact that they could have convinced all these players to stay and they still let them go will kill me forever. I will always hold a grudge against Bloom, Kennedy, & John Henry and I hope they suffer. Padres, please do me a favor, take good care of Bogaerts. The ownership did him incredibly wrong and I hope that you will treat him better, because us Red Sox fans, that’s what we want for him, we loved him very much and we were blessed to have him for all those years. Wishing him the best of luck moving forward with his career. He will definitely be missed .

Extremely sad, was really hoping he was gonna come back, but I figured there was no way the Red Sox was gonna give him that kind of contract because unfortunately, they’ve been way too cheap in recent years. Not to mention them signing Story last year was also a sign of him possibly walking. I wouldn’t have given him that money though. Probably like a six-year 150 million dollar contract. I feel for Xander. I think he really wanted to end his career a Red Sox, but they weren't willing to REWARD a guy with market value after everything he has done for Boston. Embarrassing move by Chaim Bloom. Thank you Padres ownership for being aggressive and spending to try and win!! These last few years have been such a welcome departure from 2011-2018. So excited to see Xander not only on the field, but to have his presence in that clubhouse as a champion vet and extremely well respected guy. It makes Bob Melvins job that much easier and takes a load of Manny, Soto, and Musgrove. I have found there are two clear ways to approach roster creation in MLB it seems: spend like crazy with an owner like Cohen and be aggressive like Dombrowski/Preller, OR be this ultra-shrewd bargain hunter ahead of the curve in the mold of the Rays, Guardians, etc. Youd think the Sox have the ability to spend more than the thrifty Bloom seems to operate...I don't get it.

Kim will want to go elsewhere if he can't play. Sometimes I think the constant movement of players just disrupts the Padre's ability to settle in. Still, Bogaerts looks pretty good but he too will have to acclimate to a new team. He's been in Boston his whole career. Is he strictly a SS or can he play elsewhere?

Kim should ask the Padres for a trade. I'm sure there are teams that want Kim's shortstop defensive ability. Kim has excellent infield utility skills, but it's a pity that he had to give up the full-time shortstop job after just one season.

As a Red Sox I'm finished with Bloom we get rid of Dave Dombroski because he was too aggressive blew up our farm system his first year we win the WS, before Dombroski we had Ben Cherington before Ben we had Theo Esptein these GM'S made moves they weren't scared to make. The GM I mentioned weren't passive they were aggressive since Bloom arrival he let impact player leave the Red Sox in exchange we gotten nothing back. We let Mookie Betts walk, we traded Christian Vasquez, we allowed Xander to walk we get rid of Andrew Benitendi the passive aggressive moves is why we finished last in the division. If Chaim Bloom can't survive another year being passive Red Sox owner even gave him the green light to go and be aggressive, this off season we getting out bid by other teams etc, we need a more aggressive GM if Chaim Bloom can't get the job done in Boston.

6 minutes of career highlight and not a single defensive play. Truly a downgrade defensively, 3rd on the depth chart behind Kim and Tatis at SS (arguably even lower than Cron). Let us just hope he can keep hitting in SD, against the trend of guys dropping off offensively upon arrival in SD. LFGSD!
