Some people have asked me how I get the bands set up in the X set up so this video explains how to do the X set up for your tricep press exercises

Thank you for this video. I hated the triceps workout because of the bands. Now I have a new found enjoyment of this one exercise because of your video explanation. Thank you.

Thank you for this. Been doing x3 consistently for 3 months but triceps is the exercise I've always had trouble with. I'm a tall guy but have narrow shoulders. The band would either slide up to my neck, or if I put it lower would roll on my arms. This is so much better!

Hot damn! Thanks for demonstrating this exercise. It makes complete sense now. I'm struggling to tighten this movement up, and having the band cooperate. I'll start doing it like this!

Hi Brad! I've been using X3 since January 2020, best thing I ever bought. I'm 51 and in the best shape of my life!! I saw Maykell's videos on what he calls the tricep X curl. I've been doing it just like you are in the video, but with Maykell, a lot of times he is using 32 inch bands for these triicep exercises, he mentions this in his posts. If you notice in his videos, he has like 20 bands on his rack. I'm not trying to say he's not giving out wrong info, but when you first look at the videos, some people may think he's using the X3 bands, the X3 bands are longer. I do get better stabilization for the tricep pushdowns, that's because I recently got the new longer X3 bar, and it stretches the band more. But I think, for the best results, I may look into getting a couple of 32 inch bands, obviously, it will add more tension, and it should help for shorter people. Just wanted to comment, because you actually made me look into the X version of the tricep exercises and it was very helpful. Want to help my fellow X3 users!! Thanks!!

Thank you for the positive comments.😎👍🏻. The serious steel bands are a few inches shorter than X3 bands. I can see the difference between my black band and my serious steel yellow band. I have been thinking of buying their black band for tricep presses just because it is a little shorter and would give you a lot more tension closer to your body. I like the full stretch of the tricep especially the shorter range. That’s why I’ve been finishing with the white band behind the head. It gives a great stretch at the end. Thank you for watching. And if you want to send me a vid of you working out I’ll post it with my workout , like partners working out. Usmccannx3rad@gmail.com.

@@B-raddDaily Hi Brad! I am so tempted to get some of those 32 inchers!! I think we are going to find that they add a lot more tension to some of the exercises, especially the tricep ones.. Triceps are difficult enough with weights, let alone bands. There's one video of Maykell doing tricep pushdowns with the Serious Steel Blue band, and it looks like he's getting a lot out of it. Wanted to ask, do you do Drag Curls?? I've been doing them exclusively and seeing good results, just wondering what you think of them, maybe, do you think we should be doing regular curls, without moving the elbows, or if you've seen Maykell doing those X curls that somewhat mimic a Preacher Curl?? Thanks again Brad!
@B-raddDaily2 жыл бұрын
@@franksatin I’ve done drag curls, regular curls and arm blaster curls. The arm blaster curl is like a preacher curl but the blaster is across your chest/upper abdomen. Arnold made these famous. With the band it really puts a lot of pressure on your core to do the reps. I didn’t like it much because of that. It took my concentration away from squeezing my biceps. Regular curls were ok but for me I didn’t feel the connection to my biceps as much as the drag curls. Drag curls I like the most with bands because I really feel the connection as I drag the bar up my body. My body does not have great peaking biceps like Arnold, but I have noticed the most growth ever just doing the drag curls. Lately I have started doing the drag curl with a very light band and doubling it up. I’ve been working on the full range, stretching the bicep all the way to the bottom. I’ve felt the most pump doing it that way. Plus I bought the wide bar and I do the drag curls with my hands all the way to farthest part of the bar. My palms stay fully connected to the bar during the full exercise. I did buy a few serious steel light bands that are 41” and I’m working up to those bands for my drag curls. Since they are shorter than the X3 bands they should give me a great stretch at the bottom when I double them up. On Markell’s X curls they look very core intense. I’ll just stick with my full drag curls keeping my core out of it as much as I can and really blowing up biceps. 👍🏻😎

@@B-raddDaily Thanks for the input!! Just a quick question, I just ordered a couple of 32 inch Serious Steel Bands, you mentioned you had 41 inch bands, aren't the X3 bands also 41 inches? I think Maykell is using 32 inch bands for a lot of his videos. The shorter bands should be even harder, I guess I'll find out when I get them. Thanks Again!!

Thanks for this video. I have had trouble with the tricep press and the chest press. I don’t really feel my chest area being activated nor my triceps when I do each respective exercise. Maybe this way of putting the band on myself will help me. I’m new to x3, only been doing. It for 1 month and a half and already seeing results in my strength and conditioning, it’s fuckin wild lol.

Glad I could help. I I could add one thing this early in your journey I would say to Slow slow the reps down and feel the muscles activating. The growth starts with the pain starts so keep the pain zone long and slow. Thank you for watching and posting a positive comment. 😎

Free weight are great. And so are bands. It just depends on how you use them. For me I have no partner to help with the heavy stuff so bands are great. Plus bands don’t mess up your ligaments and tendons the way weights can.

Elastic bands & X3 are NOT ideal, from the perspective of building muscle. Muscles have a “strength curve” which usually cause them to be stronger when they are elongated, and LESS strong when they are contracted (shortened). So, the ideal resistance curve of an exercise would be such that it provides MORE resistance when the muscle is elongated, and LESS resistance when the muscle is contracted. Elastic bands do the opposite. They load the muscle less when the muscle is elongated (i.e., stronger), because the elastic band has not yet been stretched. Then, they load the muscle more as the muscle is shortened (i.e., weaker), because the band is increasing its length and tension. This is a very unfortunate aspect of using elastic bands as the source of resistance, in exercise. This “backward” resistance curve (regardless of angle), is less than optimally productive for muscle building, and is also LESS comfortable, to a degree. Using elastic bands tends to leave you wanting more resistance where you're stronger (in the early phase of the range of motion), and wanting LESS resistance where you're weaker (in the latter phase of the range of motion). In short, if you are traveling and still want to do something, a resistance band (or the ridiculously overpriced X3) is fine, but they are very inferior to free weights, cables and machines.
