There’s all kinds of different repairs you might have to do, some are easy, some are a complete nightmare. Good on you to show what a nightmare is.

Awesome video as always. I prefer to use a 1/8” x 1/2” flat file to remove my bur. I don’t like using banana knife. Hacksaw blade works well too but I’ve just personally found my small flat file works best for me. I’m pretty new to pipe welding. Only been on my first union job 6 months but in that time I’ve welded over 50 joints and only had 3 repairs come up (100% X-ray). There’s been many times I’ve put my root in, look inside and say “oops, I’m definitely grinding that out and redoing it” 😂 these were stressful days but very good learning experiences. I religiously watched your videos when I was practicing for my pressure certifications and I continue to watch and I highly value all your videos. I attribute a lot of my success to you X3M, so thanks again!

I have done a lot of these. Yes, it's almost always in 6-9 or 6-3 o clock. So much fun... not. Especially when it one's own damn mistakes. Porosity is also turning up a lot when welding outside. Shielding from wind can at times be extremely difficult, espcially when doing large diameter pipes.

Going from a 60 series rod to a 70 series filler rod for a repair wouldn't make sense to me either. And I've never seen a weld procedure calling for 60 series tig rod.

I was talking about E 6010 stick, and repairing with tig procedure…
@hadleytorres8171
@hadleytorres8171 4 ай бұрын
@X3MTIG I understood that. I was just curious how they justified repairing a 6010 stick root with an er70s2 or 6 tig rod. 2 different tensile strengths on the same joint just don't make sense to me. Plus the dirty dirty nature of 6010 doesn't lend well to tig welding as you mentioned.

@@hadleytorres8171 exactly. If I wasn’t there I wouldn’t believe it, still don’t understand, and even asked few QA guys , doesn’t make any sense to them as well!

If you would’ve had an X-ray done you would’ve seen which side of the bevel your X-ray was. No need to open this much. Good info but no need to open this wide
