My local dealership converted the chopper knives to the S series style with the wings. Apparently not enough air flow and that’s why it plugs with the X9 blades.

The S series chopper knives were a large improvement in beans and there is also a plate on the bottom of the chopper than can be removed so material will pass through the chopper easier

If you take 2x6 and lay it in the grain tank on each side of the front cross auger cover it (use like 2 on each side) it will help this issue in lentils. We have had this trouble in North Dakota but this is the temporary fix till the new pip comes out to fix it

We actually just ran into the shear bolt issue on our x9 in wet corn today. After about 15 shear bolts, we discovered that the end section (folding section) of the unloading auger was jumping the cog when under a load. This would cause the end section to pack tight with corn which would then break the shear bolt. The main portion of the unloading auger has too much play and allows the cogs to jump. Just something to look at! We rigged it up by putting a couple hose clamps behind the main section of auger up near the elbow so that it couldn’t slide away from the folding section as far. Sorry for your troubles!

Hello Mike, love your show,Darrell from Ireland here.on fertiliser equipment I wash it down & when dry I spray on engine oil diesel mixture.Dilute the engine oil with diesel so it can be sprayed on.I use a spray gun for with a long nozzle for thicker substances than paint, works well & is very fast.A standard paint spray gun is just a bit slower.Of course you need an air supply (compressor)or I have never tried it but maybe take an air feed off one of your tractors.Keep up the good work good man.

We run a 2017 S680 and the more I watch your vids on the x9 the less I want anything to do with them. I keep seeing things they changed that has never given trouble on our old machine. When you plug the rear of ours it’ll kick your rotor out without even asking if you want to when it sees the chopper speed go to zero and I’ve never had to dig deeper then the chopper and the area under the rear beater. What a pain in the butt. Looks like a case of fix it until it’s broken

It doesn’t matter how much the factory tests the combine before it is released for sale, there is always issues that come up when actual owners run the machines. AGCO used to have a crew follow the harvest monitoring what failed and what worked well, and fed information back to the factory. That was in the mid nineties with the Gleaner Combines, not sure if they still do it or not. It seems like more companies are having the customers do the final field testing, not by choice. Thanks for the videos Mike, be safe out there. Glad you to see Lee back in the mix. Maybe it’s Claas Time.

I've never harvested lentils but do quite a bit of pinto beans. Same thing, builds up like concrete in the auger if they're 13% or higher. We have broken plenty of shear bolts on the unload auger drive and have learned now that you just have to pull the covers off the bottom of the gearbox and drop all the crop on a tarp. Now we will fill the grain tank with water and run it through the auger if we are having problems. Seems to work pretty good on our JD S770. I see you already have a block off plate on the hole in the upper left corner of the grain tank which helps.

If i recall correctly There were four Times in the whole season where He had to stop completely. The rotors ran out of lubricant, a Belt in the Header Broke, a piece of Metal from the Header broke and got through the combine, completely shredding the Chopper knifes so These had to be replaced and one of the belts for the unloading got old and hang through. So also no unloading There. But that Was it. It would be so awesome if the claas Marketing Team would Do you a Demo.

Mike, you or your dealer needs to check the engagement of the drive cog on the folding auger. The X 9 combines sometimes are not checked for proper engagement on the folding auger drive cog so sometimes it just is not turned and the inner auger just rams the crop into the folding auger (which is not turning) and it bends the flighting. Easy way to tell if this is the issue is it will break the shear bolt when the auger is unfolded but will not if you unload with the auger folded.

I've noticed that cutting lentils you're getting a lot of build up of material similar to that Chet Larson was talking about when cutting black beans. You shouldn't have to on a brand new combine but you might find it beneficial to install plastic auger liners to prevent the build up of gunk. I realise you receive recommendations from many viewers, all of which are 'experts' in mechanical engineering & good farming practices, but I hope you'll take my advice in good faith & hopefully achieve smooth running augers & a whole combine free of sheared bolts & smelly burning belts. Lastly, enjoy your trip down memory lane & as you bask in a hypnotic, nostalgic, nightmare of unplugging Fendt Ideal combines, take a second & think of me Not fighting harvest with every bone in your body, good luck my friend, good f*cking luck!!!

@@dirtdevil70Especially adverse conditions in crops they probably never heard of. At a combine clinic once someone asked " so how does that (whatever it was) work when you're combining corn in snow." Stutter, blank look.

@lynwessel2471 exactly to mention trying to design a combine thats expected to work in 15 different crops in multitude of conditions.... nowcsome things are just poor designs..like having to remove mutiple parts to change a hose or belt, or oil fills buried deep in a hole that collects dirt

Should be safety first. Working on a combine with the engine running in my mind is a no no. hands in augers, taking off belts, pulling straw out of choppers. I just cringe when people don things like that. My Uncle reached up to touch a pully to see if it was hot. Without thinking he reached for a moving pully with the other hand. His hand got wedged between a flat belt and the pully and literally burned off part of his hand before his son could get the motor turned off.

You should be talking with the combine manufacturer over why the straw from the lentils built up. Nobody wants to be watching a combine on fire in the middle of a field. You need to figure out why it wasn't feeding it out properly, combines are supposed to feed the straw out, not build it up inside until it reaches critical mass. Who would want to be sitting on top of a toaster fire waiting to happen?

But with the look of your bubble up auger housing you can tell the conditions are way, way to wet. There’s not a combine in the world that would work well in condition like your in. I saw it at the dealership the mass amount a failures in conditions like that with New Holland & Massey combines. If your unload auger is looking like your bubble up augur and it will with time, we has to remove the complete auger, remove the flighting and then we could properly wash out the augur tubing.

We had trouble in soybeans in a wet fall. Had to keep an eye on it, take the bubble up out chisel the junk out and put back in. Also would build up on bottom of clean grain elevator. Solution there is one stainless paddle on the chain. Alternative: wait for it to snow? Sometimes farming sucks. Nowdays the UHMW plastic liners should help.

@@lynwessel2471 Ya if farming was easy everyone would want to do it right? I am not a Farmer but spent all my working years at a farm equipment dealership in the Service Dept so we got to see all kinds! Great advise to remove all the stuff built up on bubble up auger housing! It’s going end up causing him a lot of trouble if it’s not cleaned out.
