Honestly, I love how Jim lives in the real world. At 25:41 they start talking about where his new sig is going to be made and he goes on to mention how he wants to keep costs down for the kid with his first job or the single parent who wants to buy a birthday present... Honestly... the dude just blows my mind. Most other artists with sigs just go straight high end with no compromises. Jim's just keeping in mind that real people are going to be buying his stuff and it shouldn't cost them an arm and a leg. I need to meet this man, shake his hand and just say thanks for staying so cool despite the fame.

Some guitarist want to make it possible for kids or adults to get into playing. Affordability does help and to get a awesome axe. Jim loves Fender and he shows that their guitars are able to be played. Tom Araya of Slayer did not have a custom. He wanted kids to be able to go to a guitar shop and pick it up at a reasonable price to also sound just like what he uses. Mick in Slipknot is down to earth also. He loves his craft

I'm a huge fan of Jim too and kinda get your point. But here in the EU his Mex Jazzmaster is currently on sale for 1.5 grand. That's... got nothing to do with a real world or down to earth gift a single parent could afford for their kid's birthday:D Here in germany the average monthly income after taxes is 2.2k. For childless singles, so without the costs of a child.

You got taught a riff by Jim Root on his own guitar. I don’t think it could get cooler than that. Awesome interview and with him choosing you to get the first glimpse into his new setup. Definitely something to feel accomplished and proud of.

I find myself coming back to this interview every once in a while. It's so cool listening to a guitar legend taking the time out of his day to shoot the shit and talk gear so casually and passionately. You did an excellent job asking him questions that excited him and it lead to a super engaging conversation. I don't even play guitar but I find it so fascinating listening to you guys talk about gear and tone! Great job brother!

I rarely watch a full 45 min video on youtube but this is such a cool video man. Super cool seeing someone get to interview their favourite guitarist, you did a way better job than 99 percent of actual journals. Other people always seem like robots but this just seems way more personal. Loved it man

Great job man you could tell you nervous as at the start but by the end you guys were so relaxed it flowed well. Also so cool he let you play one of his guitars, would of been awesome if he let u play one of his more worn in ones just so you could see how different they feel from the wear. But this was awesome 🤘🤘

Hetfield is above talking gear to fans. or talking to fans at all unless he has enough PR people and handlers involved. Probably tired of being asked why Lars doesn’t try harder.
@craig9605
@craig9605 4 жыл бұрын
@@bwgti Yeah, I can't remember seeing a video of him going over his gear, only his signature pickups for an EMG video. Though, I've seen his tech talking about his rig on the current tour. Lars, man...I love him, and before I knew better I thought he was a great drummer. He's great with Hetfield, but you put him with anyone else and he won't be able to do much.

@@VS-rv5xh I think he is secretly an unbearable asshole - if you know him well enough. But I don't give a crap either way. I think he is possibly the best rhythm guitarist in the history of metal - okay. outside of Iommi He is the only part of Metallica that still kills it live year after year 1985-2019. You know what is killing it? This Gear Rundown with Jim.
