I'll throw in the idea that the protagonist is a 10 year old Elm (he seems to be around 40 in Gold/Silver) who idolizes the work of both Professor Maple's Pokemon research and Sam Oak's prowess as a trainer. Since you didn't include a rival I'll say Draco's younger brother, a teenager (and Clair's father) snuck over from Johto with his faithful Dratini to also undertake the Gym Challenge in order to prove to his father (the Blackthorn Master ...and Emperor of Johto?) he's as qualified as his brother to inherit the Leader position traditionally reserved for the eldest son

I think i would be interesting if the game started by you visiting Bill who tells you that he's made a new time machine and you accidentally use it and thats how you end up in the past

The research Blaine could be asked to help you with is to search for a Moltres feather in the nearby volcano - giving him a backstory about how it once saved him from a near death experience there and was what inspired him to become a Fire type Expert! All this could lead into the Legendary quest catching in the post-game as well:)

I can see Blaine and Fuji being involved in the research of Mew/Mewtwo. Like Cinnabar manor being a full fledge research lab.

This is so cool. I wish someone would make this into a game. Also, some new pokemon can be added to the pokedex that were found previously in the Kanto region but due to a catastrophe they went extinct. So that the strength of previous generations' pokemon can be balanced with the new ones as current gen have quite strong pokemon base stat wise. 😅❤

Bro this is such a great concept. Love the storytelling also. Very good job. Also, if you’re open to ideas, maybe the sippy co-grunts use the electric/dark scraggy (this would Help with balancing the dex) I had some ideas for regional variance as well, for example (again only if you’re into it) 1. Maybe like a dragon/normal Kangaskhan? Maybe back in this time they were much more aggressive because they had to protect their young due to the problems with the connections with people and Pokémon from Silph co, an overtime once they got to relax, and found peace and refuge in the safari zone they lost their dragon typing because they no longer needed it. 2. Maybe Alolan Marowak was brought to kanto to the safari zone when it first opened to attract people (again this would balance the dex a little bit) plus gives old Agatha another good Pokémon to use on her team and maybe towards the end of the story you learned from one of the safari so employees that Alolan marowak will soon be taken back to alola because the climate is not ideal for them and which you learn from professor maple’s research during a point in the game? 3. Maybe the Ekans line is also Ghost/Poison, gives Agatha a strong Pokémon too and gives ghost more love. Eventually they said their ghost powers with their skin after the power plant gets built due to the pollution and becoming sole, poison types? lol idk Also, I noticed you said that Professor Fuji uses a meowth And lickitongue but was there a specific reason for the Licki? Because maybe he can use a ratatta instead? He’s a normal type leader and cat and mouse is pretty normal. Plus it’s the first gym you know and since the first gym is also in the same town as you maybe you can give ratatta endure or something to make it stronger idk not saying you have to use any of these ideas obviously just love this concept a lot just giving random opinions but nice video nonetheless I subscribed 💯🔥

Personally I think the anti pokeball thing is a bit done already, with gen 5 and all even touching on it. Personally I think a theme that fits is progress vs stability/nature/etc. Like the protesters can still happen but they'd be against massive development projects like the cycling road
