You young people have missed so much good music that we experienced in the 60s and 70s. So good though that you can go into the back catalogues and enjoy this music as we did and still do. Simon and Garfunkle the masters of two part harmony and beautiful songs. Hope you react to some more!

nothing beats this. but know this: here, they are covering themselves because their own original was 1964 (!!!), fourtyfive years BEFORE this one 2009, and it was different. but you did choose the best version, anyway. you should definitely look up BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER from the same concert.

Always great to see the younger generation appreciating the things that came before them. To be fair, this song was also before my time - I didn't discover it until adulthood myself, but Art Garfunkel has the voice of an absolute Angel. Paul Simon was the bigger star, but goodness, could Art Garfunkel sing.

wow, This is decades after their original recording of the song, but the magic is still here. Beautiful. Garfunkel's delicate, ethereal tone with Simon's bit more solid sound just still expresses Simon's song better than anyone else can do, no matter how strikingly powerful Disturbed's take on it is. And I like disturbed's version very much, but this one by the original artists takes the prize.

They were named “ Poet Laureates” of that time. They wrote some great songs others cover still . I’m elated you “got it”. To understand songs from this era in the U.S so many movements were going on simultaneously and it’s all recorded in our songs. There was a great deal going on all over ver the world . It was tumultuous and we young people used music to express our desires for change which spurred our actions . How we felt , what we needed those in power to know and what our dreams were . It was an important time in history and we are seeing it again .

I am into music like for over 30 years now. When I talk to younger generations I get a lot of words like: "you are old! you don't know nothing about music! you should stop listening ot this old crap. check out the new music!!!" ... then they play to me three songs which are in their eyes/ears "amazing tunes! and have more amazing lyrics" ... I hate it when I have to tell them that I know these songs and that those "cool and amazing" songs are only covers! This "Disturbed"-Song, Madonna's "American Pie" or even Metallica's "Stone Cold Crazy" or "Whisky In The Jar". There is actually a very long list of songs that are like 30-50 years old or even older! Everyone know these songs, but know believes that this are only covers! But to be fair: There are a lot of very good covers out there which I like as well... because I am into music and a fan of music! :-)

They’re the original singers. But, if you want to hear the actual original, you have to look for Simon and Garfunkel’s version from the 1960’s (forgot what the actual year was - mid 60’s, I think). That’s their best to me. But then, the 60’s version is the one I heard first years ago. I think it all depends upon which version you heard first.
