Great video, Kyle! I own both of these, and yeah, the sound very similar, but the Mark III just has some extra magic in the top end that is just so much better IMO Thank you! I'd love to see you compare all the Mark and Mark style amps, that's such a great idea.

Every time I hear the Badlander I absolutely love it. The "lack of low end" is actually good because in a band situation or recording that's what you want. It helps you get out of the way of the bass player and the kick drum right out of the box.

I have a Mesa Boogie Mark III red stripe simulclass with the 5 band eq I bought in the year 2000 out of the classifieds in my local newspaper for $600. I'm like any 80's or 90's kid. I wanted to capture that Metallica sound from Master of Puppets or And Justice for All. The fact of the matter is, these amps are incredibly midrange focused, even if you fully scoop the 5 band eq. The recordings of these amps were heavily altered on those classic Metallica albums. You can get a lot closer to those classic Metallica recordings with a Fender Hotrod Deville and a good distortion pedal.

You have to get one of those old fender m-80''s with the grey carpet and red knobs. They take boosts well and are brutal.

Wow 👌. The bad lander is brutal. Love that tighter tone. I have a triple recto ( not the multi watt ) I run a ts9 in front to tighten it up. But when I play it with the other guitarist it seems like it's hard to dial in a usable tone. Gonna seriously have to look into the bad lander

@@Eliphas_Elric I own the Nomad 100 which has 3 channels and the graphic EQ. I can get some tight tones on the third channel with or without the EQ enabled that are at the same time quite dynamic. Channel 2 can get doomy really quickly with the right EQ!
