We all go through that with Outer Wilds. Things seem to happen randomly at first. We're floundering around, not quite sure what's going on or why we're doing things. But then as you get in, more and more pieces click together. You get places you thought impossible. You understand the story of what happened and what's happening. You make amazing discoveries. And your heartrate goes through the roof in some moments too. It's absolutely one to stick with for the payoff. It's not a long game either - you can finish up in a day's sitting.

I think Cog forgets Sea of Thieves was lambasted at release for being bare bones. It took years for it to reach a state worth playing for most people, the state which PlayStation players now get to jump into

For Outer Wilds, in terms of flight controls, if not already, definitely recommend utilising the auto pilot feature to help with the uncontrolled flying since that will put you in orbit and makes landing easier. For the gameplay aspect and the time loop, whilst there may be a rush to get things done (especially late game) early game I would look at your rumour map and pick one rumour you want to complete and focus on that (essentially take it one thing at a time and not worry about the rest)

Can’t believe how long it is taking for AB games to come to Game Pass. Just Diablo 4 at this slow pace is ridiculous. Also we need AB back compat additions

Outer Wilds is all about feeling the danger of space travel. It's a very different type of game. I played it for about 10 hours ... confusing but memorable ...

I already feel like I have an Xbox handheld. At least to a certain extent. The Steam Deck has been amazing for running games with X Cloud. While I'd love to have my whole library, there's a huge selection of games to choose from and the performance has been outstanding.

"You control the narrative when you isolate yourself" So, like.....exclusives....yes? Having new, stronger hardware has never really moved the needle for Xbox. It's games, pure and simple. So they are either going to put out good games (which apparently now will go to other platforms as well), or they will hang their hats on another piece of plastic and fall over their own feet yet again.

Overwatch 1 stopped getting update because they were working on the sequel… that’s normal for devs. Diablo 3 was still very populated when Diablo 4 was being launched ….. can’t support a game from 2016 forever when we have already leaped like 3 or 4 graphical generations in the span of 2 console lifes

I don't know who is telling Cog the halo show is fantastic this season but it's definitely not. Maybe better than the first season but that's not difficult to do. It's like going from a 2/10 to maybe a 5/10. It's got some cool things but overall it's a bad halo show. Could be a decent sci-fi show if you remove the halo skin from it. But calling this a Halo show is a disservice to the fans in my opinion.

I've always wanted a handheld dedicated to the 360 generation of games. If that released I would be lost in it.

I'd buy up a Xbox hand-held so fast! I recently subscribed back up to Game Pass Ultimate after being on pc game pass for the past few months. Just so I could play games on my phone, the smaller form factor is just more comfortable compared to being on the pc all the time.

I don't understand why Pocketpair doesnt just sell the IP, no need to sell the company, just sell the game and IP so a company can sell merchandise like Anubis plushies and a TCG, Nintendo has proven successful marketing with pokemon, Palworld can be Microsoft's version. I have zero interest in any console that can't play physical games manufactured specifically for it, or any console that lacks some good exclusive games. I'd bet any potential Microsoft handheld would be digital-only and I'd expect it to have a lackluster library nearly or completely devoid of exclusives. Look how much trouble they have filling out the game library of the Series X. I can't imagine a more unattractive device than a handheld that just plays already-existing games of older Xbox consoles, or Series X games, but on a small screen I have to hold. Imagine a Switch Lite that is digital-only and completely lacks all the great Switch exclusives. THAT'S how lame an Xbox handheld would be. It could even be as lame as the PS portal.

Your issues with the ROG handheld is Windows. It is why pc game handhelds have never been main stream. That is until the Steam Deck. Valve didn't use windows. There's is way way more pick up an play. Don't give up on Hand helds cause of windows. What valve did with the Software an OS on the SteamDeck is the correct path. Even though the ROG has a newer chip the Steam Deck still out performs the ROG in most cases.

The Xbox series X IS the pro model as only like 25% actually own it. Essentially the series S is their main console. Just terrible management but helps the Switch 2 because it shortens the gap.

I've been on the PS Portal a lot lately and I agree totally. A handheld version of Xbox in some way would be amazing.

I have played Overwatch on and off for years, and I find Overwatch 2 just overall isn't as fun for me. I found it was more of a technical game before, as now they are gradually removing that aspect of the game, It's less appealing for me. Furthermore, I think they are trying to make the game easier for a wider audience which is pushing the current audience away.

I think Game Pass will get more games as the environment changes for developers. Think about it now we are at the point where developers really could use some cash. Microsoft has no problem waiting until you need money and then pulling up and saying hey, we got that dollar dollar bill y’all. Let us get that title that you refused to give us before or that you might’ve wanted to charge too much for before. Let us get it now and we can negotiate need the money we want the title on Game Pass let’s make a deal.

The sea of thieves thing makes no sense. All it proves is that Xbox has trained it's consumers to not buy games on that platform.

I also played 5-10 hours of Outer Wilds and also thought it was over hyped. A good game, but unless the ending drastically changes the experience I'd agree with Matty. I stopped playing initially because of the choppy frame rate and my lack of VRR at the time though.

I lived through the OG Gameboy, GameGear, GBA, PSP, Vita etc years and for the life of me I have never understood the appeal of a handheld. Why would I want to sit hunched over a tiny screen using cramped controls when I have a glorious 77” 4K 120hz VRR OLED television? When I’m on the road, my hands are on the wheel. If I would attend a rooftop soirée like in those awful Switch commercials, I’d be socializing. If I’m on the toilet, I’m pooping. I’m not glued to a screen.

A Series S Portable would be a day 1 pickup for me Xbox would be my main platform again over night

I don’t understand how Xbox jumping into “next gen” early helps. With budgets and risk where it is now, third party and likely MS themselves will have to be even deeper into cross gen than even this time around. At that point, is the next thing not just another “mid gen refresh +?” They may have games at 60fps where the others are 30, etc but if there isnt enough content there early, people will just wait for PS6, which a year or two later, would likely be EVEN BETTER than the Xbox. Xbox is having problems selling consoles as it is, I think if Ps6 was the one going first, that might be a boon, but Xbox doing it? Idk man. Its not the 360 era anymore. You arent going to get those exclusives like Dead Rising, Saints Row, Oblivion, etc.

Xbox isn’t just looking at how to get out of manufacturing consoles. That’s a poor way of describing the situation. Xbox is looking at the future of what they think gaming will be. The future looks like there will be a place where you can do all of your entertaining whether it be play video games, watch movies, and such and not have to have one device to play this and another device to play that. That appears to be the future. Technology is going to go that way so they aren’t looking to get out of manufacturing platforms. They’re looking at the future win that will no longer be necessary and asking themselves is that time now? How do we prepare for this inevitable future? Notice the word inevitable. What steps can we take now so that when this change occurs we can be leaders. They already know they are not going to win the console war. They will never win the war. If it went on for another 100 years, they won’t win they won’t catch up. They are already saying OK in the future when this is no longer necessary. How can we make sure that we start out on top and stay on top. Sony is very worried about the future because it won’t be the platform that you sell people then it will be the software you offer them. Microsoft is king making software not video game software no it’s the user interface software, the software you need to literally power up a machine and make it do the normal things we do on a computer daily that we think nothing of. Somebody had to create all of that, pinching the screen, pulling the screen, double click double tap, swipe left swipe right those gestures had to be created. Those gestures and the software behind them is patented. This very day, Apple makes money off of gestures, and the software behind it that it patented. Bluetooth literal Bluetooth technology that is patented software. There is a reason why made devices don’t like using Bluetooth. It’s because you have to pay to use Bluetooth. Look at many of the headphone devices that Sony develops. It’s not Bluetooth. It doesn’t work on anything else but a Sony device because they don’t wanna pay for Bluetooth. Microsoft is thinking very far ahead. What are people going to want and can we make it now patent it now so that when other people need to use our software when other companies need to structure something to function like this, we’ve already got the game on lock.
