As someone who has both consoles you can’t go wrong with either way There are days where you prefer more party games or just the exclusive Nintendo games like Pokémon And there are days where you just want to play more next-gen games like Witcher 3, cyberpunk, call of duty,… If it’s solo to get both, get both! If you HAVE to decide between one of these I would probably go for the series S to play good multiplayer games

Next gen gaming and features of a full on Console minus disk drive you cannot go wrong with the Series S. I'm blown away by the performance even more so the price which I picked up for 200 dollars.

The "One thing that you negligently forgot to mention" in my book, is the digital vs physical argument. For the switch you can buy used games or find sales at retailers to get games at a better price. Whereas for the Series S, you're locked to digital only games and the price you see on the digital store is the price you have to pay. And I personally just prefer having physical games because I'm afraid of companies having complete DRM control.

I see where you’re coming from but half the old games on my steam library are untouched. Definitely nice to know they are there, but realistically digital is a lot more convenient for my lifestyle.

@@angelopebs Gotta say, if my digital xbox library was as large as my steam library, I would totally be for using a series s. But I find that xbox digital games don't really go great sales in the same way that steam games do, as the xbox store front is literally the only store on xbox consoles (whereas Steam has to be competitive because other launchers exist).

@@calebfox1584 Objectively speaking, Steam has the best sales for a digital storefront. Xbox can't even compete with GOG. The draw here is gamepass which is great for people with a small library, but I don't see that aging too well a couple of years down the road. Steam just feels more "safe" because we can access it everywhere. I'm starting to go buy more stuff with Xbox because they have a good consumer friendly approach and the series s plus a laptop for computer things are definitely cheaper than a gaming pc. It really depends on whether you have a nice gaming rig or not. Because of my lifestyle, it isn't as sustainable for me. To each his own, because I have some friends with a steam library larger than the available games on gamepass total lol.

The Microsoft Store always has sale deals on selected video games. You can definitely save big buying, your digital games when on sales deals are offered. I buy all my video games this way. I don't subscribe to Game Pass as I rather not.

Bruh, the end 😂 I have the series s and I don’t regret it. It’s an amazing console! My brother has the switch and he loves it. But when I use it, it just feels clunky and weird, especially the sticks (they’re small). Btw, when I bought the series s, I also bought a decent monitor and a comfy chair. (So keep that in mind, if you’re going to buy a new console). Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Depends on what you're looking for imo. If you want a console for just strictly gaming (for the most part) and don't care about the newest graphically intense stuff, get a Switch. If you want a console that both plays games and can be a media center, and play higher end stuff, get an Xbox/PS5.

Series S is a workhorse that practically pays for itself if you use the Mircosoft Rewards app. If you are on ANY kind of budget get the Series S. You can grind out $10 in rewards money monthly, or only really need to pay for Gamepass every other month. As a bonus it's on sale all the time for the steal of $249.99. The Switch was underpowered in 2017 and is practically robbery for $300 in 2022. At most they should be charging $150 for the full console and $100 for the handheld version. To add insult to injury Nintendo's constant anti-consumer behavior and never-on-sale 1st party titles, unless you are a REAL Nintendo fan there is no reason to shell out. I would honestly recommend the 3DS still to this day over the Switch.

Also, Microsoft edge is on the xbox series s so you could buy that and use it for cloud gaming, for work, for watching movies, and pretty much anything a regular pc could do. (With a keyboard and mouse attached). The xbox is compatible with keyboard and mouse whereas the switch is not and adapters dont feel like ur playing on pc.

I own a series s and I'm considering trading it in to knock off the price of a oled. I'm have played a lot of AAA third party exclusives and really want to experience a new console and Nintendo games. I would consider the lite but when some botw and the new one coming out should really be played on a bigger screen feel really tempted to get oled. But only thing wondering is should I still trade it in despite owning games on series s that I'm having trouble completing and may not go back to after I do? I have Witcher 3 Skyrim cyberpunk 2077 rdr2 the big games

I have pc gaming wich is have AAA game like yours,, and i think the game is to hard for me.. until i bough switch lite, man the game just fun.. i'am feeling nostalgia,.. and i can play mario, botw, platformer gamr and CTR everywhere.. Now i consider buy oled.. i dont mind if consol to old.. but if tou have xbox just keep it, you can play multiplayer or using as media center play youtube or browsing

Keep in mind that the Switch can play physical cartridges that can go on sale, while with the series S your locked to the Xbox store

I own both consoles, obviously if you’re able to afford it buy both. If it’s not in your budget I’d suggest the Switch, it’s a no brainer. The games are great, the OLED screen is mint and there’s really good multiplayer and solo games fun for you and your friends/family. I’d pick the switch over the Xbox any day.

As someone who ones both I respect your choice but I go for the Series S. My Switch I have more family centric games, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Breath of the Wild, it’s sequel when it comes out, Pokémon Eevee and that’s about it. I love GamePass’s huge Library of games. Plus I can earn gift cards to buy cheaper games. That’s how I got Portal 1 & 2 and KotOR 1 & 2.

I have the Xbox series S and I was looking to see if a Nintendo switch was better/worth it because I rarely get time to sit on my tv and set up the Xbox and I didn’t like how their was a very small variety of game option. I think i will be looking for a Nintendo just because the more wide game choices and it more affordable as it already come with two controllers and I am looking to play with friends and family together

@@Judyhopps-1iq I was specifically mentioning Xbox, not PC. PC is in a whole league of its own and always will be. Every year Xbox inches closer to gaming PCs so eventually there won't be any inclination to stay Xbox. You're better off just having all the extra benefits of PC. But if you're paying attention to the current landscape of games coming out from Microsoft owned studios, they keep releasing generic rehashes that we've seen for at least 10 years. So even though the hardware and performance is really nice, the substance/originality is really starting to go down hill unless you cherish legacy games which is perfectly understandable. Nintendo is still being brave enough to take risks and continue original innovative games, like they always have.

Mario Odyssey, Mario Party and Mario Kart are all 60 frames per second. I had an S but replaced it with an X. Some games run much better, such as Elden Ring, however if you're a casual gamer Game Pass and a Series S is an amazing choice.

one thing you forgot mate... series s emulation. a) it can, b) it's really good at it... it is the SOLE reason i own a series s... except maybe red dead redemption... it's the best console you can find for emulation (unless u get a release model ps3 with full ps2 compat at 1080, but tbh i owned one for like 2 months last year then sold it because 1080 isn't that good anyway and the series s can do 2, 4k) and on top of all that it's kinda, tacitly allowed by microsoft, like you're not gonna get ur console taken off you or your account banned for doing it. as far as i know the switch can't do any emultion at all, unless the budding homebrew scene has figured something out, it's still risky and illegal.

Switch lite is good (got one for £105) The main issue is that 1st party games are pretty expensive. With xbox you buy the console spend money on gamepass and woila you get shit loads for £11 a month . I got some good deals on the switch . Ac rebel collection Serious Sam collection Ac 3 Doom 1 2&64 Duke 3D All for under £40 which is cool Xbox do deals it all depends which games you play and grind more hours in

The best way I can give an answer on this debate is: the Switch is overall the better console because it's a true console (not a PC-ish console) and the more innovative and unique machine, but the Series S is just as fun as the Switch but in a different way, so in the end both are great.

Given the option of one or the other I'm going for switch. Reasons being every hard copy game I purchase is a game I own. Now I'm a massive hypocrite considering I own a steamdeck. But for the same reason (almost) I own a steamdeck is the reason for ownership of the series s and that's a great console to emulate game with. If I'm paying for my games though I preffer them to be hard copy

The biggest problem with the Switch is the price. A 7 year old system is $450CAD, then you have to replace the joycons immediately with a more ergonomic option, $60, then you also need to buy a pro controller, $90, then every decent game is gunna cost you $65-$80. After all that, every game looks and plays only about as good as a PS3. Any half decent game hardly ever goes on sale and when it does it’s not by much. If you want to play older games on the switch you need to buy the highest tier online membership and even then the selection of old titles is pretty pathetic.

As a cheap console, i don't care if xbox series s runs with a lower fps when it's with a good resolution, graphics. Playing forza horizon on it for example is amazing, and all the games in my opinion, and obviously, game pass is the key. But dude, if nintendo was with xgp, i would buy it in that situation

series s has good performance and fps, very powerful compared to switch and it has gamepass, you can get xbox ip's day one on gamepass. The only problem is it lacks good games switch's performance is bad and so is the fps, its inferior when it comes to hardware with series s and the games are very expensive. It has not if the greatest but one of the greatest games out there and has great library of masterpiece games and its a hybrid console. imo i would go for the switch or maybe the switch lite.

It all comes down to the games. My youngest son only plays jrpgs & Pokémon. He has no interest in the Xbox, so hardware/performance means nothing & doesn't game on his PC, so he doesn't use steam. My oldest son had both, but he's into both systems offerings. For me, I go between Xbox & Playstation. Nintendo is no longer a factor for me & as for 3rd party titles, I usually get them on Playstation.

I own the switch OLED & an Xbox One X. The switch is good for laidback gaming or when you're on the go, taking a break in the office or in a bus. For high res games, the xbox is the way. Also, gamepass. Switch games are EXPENSIVE!!!!

He means when handheld. When playing handheld, all games run at 720p 30fps

@@Bezeur You’re saying that the switch runs in 30FPS in handheld and 60FPS docked is the standard for all games which is not the case. Take Mario Kart 8 for example. That game runs at 1080p 60FPS docked and 720p 60FPS in handheld mode. Another example would be Yoshi’s Crafted World. When docked it runs at 720p 60FPS and in handheld mode it runs in 400p or so (I forgot the exact resolution) 60FPS. The dock doesn’t give the switch a power boost once the switch is in there, it just enables higher resolutions
