The wireless adapter just seems more stable and reliable is the main reason I use it. If the only Bluetooth device you have is the controller it's usually fine but I've run into issues having both the controller and a Bluetooth headset connected at the same time (and yes this was with a very nice wireless card with giant antennas and everything). Imo it's never a bad idea to give your controller it's own dedicated wireless lane, so to speak.

5 ms is less than one frame of delay until you’re playing at 200+ fps. So if you are hella sweaty and play at 240hz+ maybe it makes sense to buy the adapter. But for 60 or 120 fps guaranteed you’re not ever going to notice.

I saw input lag tests done on the PlayStation DS4 controller and it was shocking that wired was slower than wireless. Wireless with DS4 windows I've seen it do 2.8ms so imagine 2 equal players one on wired xbox and one on ds4 with ds4 windows. The DS4 player would fire their gun soooo much faster and in a game like say Cod that is insane advantage. I guess this is why ALL (that I have seen) Pro players and streamers (Yes streamers are NOT Pro as I hear them called so often) use DS4 controller I guess

Can confirm that. If I plug in a bluetooth adapter at the back of my computer most of times gaming becomes almost impossible. It will always lose connection or I have issues with ghost inputs. The difference between the Bluetooth and Xbox adapter doesn't seem all that significant. I get a really stable connection over Bluetooth so I'm good sticking with that. For those struggling with Bluetooth connection, consider using an extension adapter to place your dongle somewhere where it's not impeded by other electronics.

Anyone that plays a game that has tight reaction times (at any decently competitive level) will tell you 10ms is game changing. There's a reason entire servers for games/companies (and sometimes the players themselves) are relocated to different states and countries just for slightly less lag.

Great job with the test! However, such tests do not say the whole story. When you are constantly pressing multiple buttons at the same time while playing, the bluetooth mode will struggle with the inputs. You can actually fell a delay in comparison to wireless adapter. Thank you for this video, I am trying to use Game Stream and it felt laggy to me. After messing with some settings I got it down to about 3-4ms of latency added by streaming, but every bit I can cut off will help. I think a couple of other things to note. The XBox adapter adds some extra features and in some cases may be more stable than BT. Also one thing missing is what BT adapter you were using, a dongle, built in, etc and what BT version it was using. You may find better/different results using a newer BT protocol or built in vs external for interference reasons.

Really useful test with smart design. Yet the end to end latency did not exclude the system latency, e.g. monitor flash rate, gpu latency etc . Let us say wired input latency is 5ms. Then according to this test, Xbox wireless has input latency 8ms, BT latency is around 15ms. This is a considerable latency improvement. Of course, the end to end latency is dominated by the system latency now so it doesn't matter what wireless connection we are using.
