XCOM Chimera Squad meets Midnight Suns A more damning indictment of a game I could not envision... Time to watch and see.

I feel similar in describing V Rising as 'Throw Diablo 4, League of Legends, and Oldschool Runescape in a blender with Monster Hunter.' It sounds like concentrated cancer, but it's been an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely adore the simulator mechanic. It makes sense within the story for characters to "review" their previous missions to see how they could have done better (for example actually protecting witnesses or completing it quicker) but also gives them an opportunity to see how far they've come/test out their abilities (using previously unusable abilities). I really love when game mechanics contribute to the setting rather than just being isolated UIs for the player.

I have one concern with this game, and it's the same with Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden: lack of replayability. The strength of mainline XCOM games is they have always had some sort of procedural generation to them. Something Xenonauts manages to remember, but so few of these do.

Honestly a X-men game with a set up and gameplay would work really well.

I'll say this out of the top of my head (I may even have already mentioned it). Didn't Jake Solomon say that at the early development of Ebemy Unknown they actually had actions and movements separated, each being 2 per turn? I believe he said they didn't go further with it because it made/would make the game too complicated.

Mother's Day was this past Sunday. I never had a mother and it shows by how wide the stripe of ornery is on my back lol. So I printed out 64 signs (printer ran out of paper before the 100 I wanted) that read "Not that you'd forget.... Mother's Day is this Sunday....". Not so bad, right? I hung those signs on 64 things that would make awful gifts for a mother you liked. Brooms, vacuum cleaners, laundry baskets, everything. Right down to the spatulas. I wasn't playing. I had them all over the store from Thursday to Monday morning. Now imagine me being a scribe in the Imperium. Any sort of note taking? Puns are my favorite form of humor. The worse the better. Logistics? It'd take me less than 6 months to figure out which space marine chapter least appreciated a monthly interstellar subscription service for dildos. 30k or 40k, it'd be worth the chuckle. You can't trust the Imperium to not hire people like me. I did my time in the USMC, 01-05. I spent most of boot camp playing in the sand or occupying the quarterdeck. Good times, good times.... I think I should look into working for the IRS or USPS....

Things I like about the game so far: Characters are all very different in appearance, backstory, personality, motivations and playable abilities Missions are all very different in structure and difficulty, are often tied to the story in a meaningful way and make full use of the many character's abilities Fun and interesting story that subverts a lot of Silver Age Superhero comic book tropes in a similar vein to The Incredibles, pokes fun at more current issues/brands (i.e. TV news color scheme was clearly inspired by Fox News, teal colored abandoned EV chargers in a cutscene look very similar to Tesla) Things I don't like: Art style is a bit inconsistent. Voice-acted cutscenes are done with 3D models whose movements are a bit jerky and awkward, while pre-mission dialog scenes use a graphic novel style Writing/voice acting feels a bit too 'edgy' at times, but isn't bad enough to be a dealbreaker Some enemies/NPCs are copy/paste, will hopefully be changed in the final release Missions are all very scripted, no RNG with regards to things like explosives/vehicles/enemy placement, so no replay value Timeline/turn system does not seem well implemented. The player seems to have their entire team able to move all at once, followed by all the enemy units right after anyways, which a timeline system is supposed to avoid Looks like a fun game clearly made with a lot of passion and care, so I can overlook its flaws, some of them even add a bit to its charm. I feel a bit of a soft spot for Mindfire, he seems to be the only one reacting in a relatable way to having to cut contact with his family, leave his whole life behind and join an underground rebel group just to stay alive. Looking forward to your playthrough.

The timeline usually starts with the heroes acting first, but in later battles it was getting disrupted by the enemies a lot, so later turns became more random.

From where I come : if you receive anything from a company in counterpart of a video mentionning them or their product(s) : it is a sponsored video. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just a word to check if it also apply in Australia.
