Those who played the original x1 knew immediately that Alvis was Ontos, cause one of Malos's moves is Monado Eater. So we all knew that he could possibly be an Aegis. Until the Architect explained the third Aegis.

​@@Mr_Blazeking The words "Aegis" ('ten no seihai', Heavenly Holy Grail in Japanese) and "Monado" refer to the same things: the cores of the Trinity Processor, their physical forms and the weapon they use (wow, another trinity). Maybe you meant that Alvis was never awakened as a Blade because he vanished in the middle of the experiment and this system was designed after that incident.

@@veryexciteddog963 I mean they are effectively the same duo of their universe. They even have the fire/ice duality going on. Jin became a nerfed replacement for alvis when he became a flesh eater; even before that he was one of the strongest blades in history. The fact there is no other blades contesting above him other than the aegises says a lot. He also played on both sides, like alvis did. He does care about the party but the protagonist is the answer they were inadvertently waiting for their whole lives--finally someone who wouldn't be a shit god that's also overly controlling would be able to free the world, and someone to reassure them they _will_ take care of the world after they're gone.

Although it's clear that the 3rd Monado isn't meant to be used in this scene given that it clips through Shulk's body.

Orange actually, it’s in reference to the color wheel: 1st) Alvis’ jacket is blue, the opposite color of orange and one of the 3 primary colors commonly used to symbolize one of a main 3 protagonists. 2nd) Orange(Ontos), Purple(Logos), and Green(Pneuma) are all 3 of the secondary colors.

@@ayar2 at the start not much both basically grant the users the key to the entire universe they live in but the aegis loses this ability at the end of the game while shulk just chooses to not use the monados reality altering power

@@ayar2 The Aegis is a Monado. You can even hear Malos calling out Monado arts during boss fights. However Aegis is essentially just a title Malos took and was later given to Mythra as well since they're the same kind of Blade

@@corundumkrabble5035 well, it’s debatable how much ‘Alvis’ is in that fight, and he can’t see the future by that point, that power goes to A. XC1 Alvis would both be so powerful as to be invincible and nuanced enough to never want to fight.

Yeah if Ontos didn't trigger the space time event that caused him to be sent to the reality of Xenoblade Chronicles 1, who knows what could happen. Mechonis overrun Bionis? Amalthus awakening both Ontos and Logos. Then poor Pnuema, to be cleaning up everything. Zanza aka Bionis killed by Egil using the Mechonis? Hell maybe Meyneth uses Shulk as a vessel.

@@thebakalord Actually I don't think most of the events of Xenoblade 1 would happen because of how connected Alvis/Ontos is to everything. The Monado is his sword and he bestowed two of them to Zanza and Meyneth, which practically made them gods. Without Alvis, they would be nowhere as powerful as they are in the game. Although if Alvis did stay in the XC2 universe, Amalthus probably wouldn't have awakened him. He probably would have found someone else to do it just like Pneuma since he clearly couldn't control Malos/Logos.

Rex did not awaken pyra or mythra but they chose him anyway similar to what Nia does with Rex she chooses him as her driver and so Alvis or Monado as you can call him chose shulk even above zanza(we even see him go zanza you fool so shulk what do you want) So to be exact mayneth, zanza and shulk are his drivers because they all fight using him

Even if Pyra/Mythra's sword's aren't straight up called monado's there still basically monado's in nature also the third sword aka Pneuma's sword does actually have the standard monado ring in it's hilt just like Alvis's and Malo's it can just be hard to spot sometimes.
