The biggest crying shame about this is that this spoiler filled review is literally the top result when you search for reviews of the game.

Duncan Donuts was my favorite character in Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

IGN: Reuploads review with fixed pronounciations, thinking that it's enough to validate the bland, spoiler filled review Viewers: "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?"

Y’all are clowning right - this is actually such a terrible review. Did you even play through the game’s main story? You spoil one of the biggest plot points in this game to flex your endgame gear or whatever. You mispronounce names of major characters that you get to know from the very beginning of the game. You call one of the main cast with debatably one of the darkest and most complex backgrounds one of the “weaker characters.” Even if the narrator - who most likely didn’t play the game - didn’t write the review, it doesn’t sound like the person who wrote it did either. And it’s important to remember that this is a remaster of Xenoblade Chronicles, NOT a remake or reboot - so nobody should really be surprised that a remaster doesn’t have much in the way of new content. That being said, the Definitive Edition brings with it an epilogue to the already extensive base game for no extra cost/expansion pass on top of an overhaul on graphics and several minor quality of life fixes in the menu and quest system. It’s just strange when you compare this review to other remasters that Nintendo has done. Wind Waker HD (nothing against Wind Waker, I love that game to death), which was an HD remaster with NO added story and small quality of life improvements made to gripes and complaints about the gameplay (long sailing times and loading), received a 9.8/10 over the original’s 9.6/10. Yes - Wind Waker is a far more popular game from a far more popular franchise but that’s no standard to make a review on. The Wii release of Xenoblade Chronicles received a 9/10 with the only significant complaints being about poor graphics and confusing menus. So isn’t it a little ridiculous that the Definitive edition, which fixes all these problems, remasters almost every song in the game’s soundtrack (if not all of them), AND adds new story content on top would receive an 8/10? I’m not saying it should be a 10/10 - that’s a very subjective rating and games are special to different people for different reasons. But this review feels unnecessarily nitpicky and almost scathing at times of things that are usually overlooked in other remasters. At least give it a higher rating than its original release, as you do with most of the other more mainstream game’s re-releases. If you made it to the end of my incoherent mess of a rant - thanks for reading. I tried to be as unbiased as I could. And watch Gamexplain or Nintendo Life for a much better and genuine review so you can get a better idea of what you’re getting into. But this? This isn’t how you do a review.

So what I got from this was: 1. Character reveal spoilers 2. Mispronunciations (“2 new napons”) 3. A bunch of complaints 4. False statements ("the game is better than the original. Orignal score:9 definitive score:8) I think quarantine’s affecting IGN reviewer’s brains or something.

The review still feels dry even reuploaded. They don't talk about the rearranged music, they mock the cutscenes because of a line that is repeated like 4 times in an 100 hours game and let's not forget they don't even mention the new sidequests big improvements and new difficulty options. It's not about the score for me, it's about the review being really dry. Edit: and the video shows MAJOR spoilers!

imma be real this whole review is a bloody trainwreck. had to reupload cause of mispronunciations, still messed up Dunban's name regardless, scored it lower than the original that its superior to in literally every way, put in serious spoilers and didnt edit them out in the reupload, and then said the game requires a lot of grinding when one of the great things about the game is that you literally never have to grind. typically I think the "did you even play the game" complaints are a bit silly but not here. I'm genuinely not convinced anyone involved in writing this review actually played the damn game.

This game has one of the best stories ever told and has a fantastic soundtrack to boot. This reviewer was wrong on so many things here and the fact both IGN reviews nitpick the smallest things prove that they don’t really care about the games they review nor do they actually complete them because I bet that if they actually played it though, this review would be completely different.

Honestly, IGN, just take this down and don't re-upload it. This is one BIG OOF of a review and you need to find someone else to re-review it. Preferrably someone who knows what sarcasm is and doesn't hate the original release or the games mechanics. Also tell the new reviewer to at least get to know the party properly to avoid the reason for this re-upload and don't, for the love of JRPGs everywhere, DON'T spoil things or diss a fan favorite character.

And only an 8/10 when another definitive edition aka persona 5 Royal got a 10 for changing much less in the base game than Xenoblade and also added a epilogue/ extra palace and that got a 10. As someone who has never played the game before, I'm glad I read the comments for once. Avoided the major spoilers by turning the video off, apparently. Usually, I expect just memes making fun of IGN or passionate fans upset by a lower score that they would give. But since the reviewer was apparently so careless as to drop major spoilers and mispronounce character names, they earned the negative ratio.
