I've heard some people say that Dale was like Michael Jackson: the only reason people respect him now is because he's dead. That's not true. Dale Earnhardt made NASCAR fun to watch for his time. If you wanted a show, he'd be the first man to give you one. Nowadays, in NASCAR, nobody's there to do that like he did anymore.

The best! My husband and I both cried when he went to Heaven! That was the last Daytona race we watched! It never was the same for us after Dale was dead! We cheered and celebrated later after Dale won the Daytona 500 in 1998 and we cried watching the crash that took Dale to Heaven in 2001! I was watching the race on "the day" Nascar lost it's reigning king. I nodded off and when I opened my eyes my brother in law was standing over me and asked if I saw the crash. I couldn't believe it when he told me Dale was gone. I still can't believe it. Somebody a lot smarter than me once said, "every man dies but not every man truly lives." I think that person must've known someone who was a lot like Dale Earnhardt. R.I.P. #3

damn its sad that he died... but at least he went out doing what he loved. and I think he went out with a smile on his face as he watched his teammate and his son take the number 1 and number 2 spots, and he didn't have to suffer, it was a quick death. he's the lucky one in alot of ways.
