The Roborock S50/S5 is a nice robotic vacuum and mop. With a laser to map out your home and a powerful suction, it has many of the features of more expensive vacuums at a much lower price.
In this video, I test the Roborock S50 in my own home and even control it with Alexa and Google Assistant. I'll go over its pros and cons to help you decide whether or not it's worth it.

I have the Roborock S50 and Im loving mine also, so much my wife is jealous! I agree with you about adding a feature where you can have it clean certain rooms you select. I never use the schedule because some days I want it to clean some rooms and not others. I mainly use the Zone clean up with mine, I have kids so I have to make sure I pick up before it cleans. Great video

I have had the Deebot 930 and the Roborock S5 and I could tell you hands down the RoboRock is way better. It's more efficient at cleaning, does not get stuck, better mapping/tech, and better battery life. The Alexa integration and App could use a bit of work now, but It's smarter Robot vacuum overall. I run it everynight and my floors are spotless. It's the best Robot Vacuum in it's class.

@SmartHomeSolver
@SmartHomeSolver 5 жыл бұрын
@Majidah thanks! The Roborock S5 will be more powerful so you wouldn't be sacrificing performance. I think the Roomba 690 has 600 Pa for suction power and the Roborock S5 has 2000 Pa. Also the battery life will be much better as well since the Roomba 690 can clean for 90 min and S5 for 150 min.

@SmartHomeSolver

@KZfaq Potatoe thanks! I think you have to keep the base station in the same place so it doesn't mess up the map. I haven't tried moving the base station yet though. I haven't had the S5 get stuck outside of my no go zones I set up. Those are just around my bed since it can get wedged underneath and near all the cords in the office. It's a great vacuum though. This s5 vacume is great, best thing i've bought in a long while! ive had this for 9 months now and my floors have never been so clean! ( i hate vacuming, it takes so long to do ) When i first used it i had a problem where it wouldn't clean/ operate at all because i've got lots of dark carpets! I overcame this problem by disabling the cliff sensors as i dont need them anyway ! I made a permanent mod by taking the senders and receivers in each cliff sensor and shrink wrap them together so disabling them! Black carpet issue solved. I know there is another easier fix for this problem but i wanted a permanent fix.

@James Jones it doesn't have a notification if the mop fluid is low. It can mop for about 45 minutes to 60 minutes and I'm not sure how many sq ft per fill up. Yes the mop head is reusable. Just detach the mop head and wash it off like a Swiffer mop head.

I just did a hear teardown of mine, it was surprisingly clean inside. The area where the brush is though gets NASTY, and needs to be cleaned monthly, especially if he finds something squishy in the kitchen, true story after thanks giving, it found a lot of turkey bits, lol. I needed to get a new brush for it, the bristles were pretty worn down, my house is all tile / wood with area rugs. I will be in the market for new filters soon too, after washing them for a year, i think they are getting a bit soft and used. The only issue i have seen with replacement parts is, some places from amazon, they fit, but dont "work", i guess there is a magnet in the filter that lets the vacuum detect its presence, and on these knock offs, the magnet is in the wrong spot.

Isn't true that the mopping is simply a cloth wet with a water tank? I don't see any active component to do the mopping. It seems like the only way to turn off mopping mode is simply to leave the tank empty and dry. Am I right? Is that how you do carpet?

My google home says “okay stopping the roborock” when I asked it to “Start Vacuuming”. It’s not the vacuum robot’s fault but my GH or me pronouncing it. But when I tell it using the voice assistant app, it works. Another thing is I don’t quite understand the DND mode. Aren’t we the ones telling it when to clean? Wouldn’t setting a DND time redundant?
@SmartHomeSolver
@SmartHomeSolver 5 жыл бұрын
@HGST it might be what you named your vacuum. I would change the vacuum name in the Google Home app and just try something else out to see if it works. I just tested mine again and if I say "hey google start robot vacuum" it started right up. DND might be if the vacuum ran out of battery but didn't cover the whole floor area then it would prevent it from running again late at night. It's not very clear though and you can press the power button on the vacuum during DND hours and it will start cleaning. Which can be annoying if you had a cat jump on top of it in the middle of the night and turn on the vacuum.

@WatchDragon
@WatchDragon 4 жыл бұрын
The mop is not meant to replace you, its more of a upkeep option than a full replacement. there is no scrubbing action, it just kind of drags a wet cloth around, picks up light soil, but wont do so good with dried jelly or a dry soda stain for example, it will get it somewhat if you do the 2 or 3 pass option, but again, its not a real mop replacement.

I bought this vacuum about a month ago. I love it, although I had a hard time connecting to the WiFi at first. The directions and videos aren’t specific enough for tech challenged people. I am very disappointed that I can’t get it to vacuum my black carpets or shag carpets. They should have a program that turns off the sensors for that. Honestly, just for that I may need to send it back. After all if it can’t do the jobs I require, why have it. I’ve read about covering up the sensors but then I just get an error.
