Todays video covers the steps I took to carry out a basic Oil and Coolant change (including the oil filter) on a 2001 Nissan Almera 1.5 (QG15DE).
I also cover renewing the air filter, mainly because I had a brand new one, spare.
The overall process is very like that of the K11 Micra, the oil filter sits in pretty much the same spot, but, you have the added bonus of having a little more space available.
Standard safety practices apply. Do you go under the vehicle if it is supported by just the jack, follow manufacturers recommendations and do not attempt any work on your vehicle, if you have any doubt.
This video is 'just for fun' and should not be taken as a guide, follow at your own risk.

Great video thanks - I'm planning to give my Mother's 54 Reg a service shortly, so this is exactly what I need to save me some time working out what's involved. Would also love to see brake fluid change or any other servicing you do on this car in future.

Exansion tank tank does what it say's as fluid expands with heat it goes to tank and as it cools it gets drawn back to radiator. Simple hey! When changing oil filter it is important to smear oil onto rubber seal to lubricate it when you screw it back on.

Indeed it does, it’s a typically Japanese style system, my K11 micro has a pretty much, identical system. Coolant appears to be drawn back into the main circuit, as and when required. As regards the filter, apologies if I did not show me applying oil to the seal, it is something I do every oil change, on all cars within my fleet 🙂

I have just done a bit of reading, last time I serviced it, I had a look for a filter, but, couldn't find one in the obvious places. It turns out that the petrol versions have a 'filter for life' attached to the in tank fuel pump, which is not user serviceable. Some people have chopped the filter and installed an in line item, to resolve blockages and poor performance, but, if its not broken, leave it alone 🙂

I think so. I find it varies with mine......3 to 3.5 litres. In the video I may have overstated the amount.

I need warm engine to change the oil. How many km should i drive to get it heated up?
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies 2 жыл бұрын
I tend to start the engine, run it at a fast idle for 15 minutes, then shut it off and do the oil change. You don't need to travel anywhere, the oil ideally needs to be warm, but, not scalding hot. Warm enough so it has circulated around the engine and is thin enough to drain effectively.

Thinking about saving one from being crushed It has no rust on it just been sat for 4 years Should I save it ?
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies 3 жыл бұрын
If it has no rust, and just needs recommissioning, I would. Take it for an MOT, first....after checking for obvious failures, bulbs, tyres, headlamp adjusters. If the failure sheet is not too horrific, go for it.....you never know, it might just go through!

I had a similar issue when changing the coolant on the N16 I maintain, with the 1.5 QR15DE unit. Turn the heater to hot, and have the blower on full. With the engine at idle, and the radiator cap off, squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses to help remove air from the system. It took he about half an hour to bleed the one I work on. Continue squeezing the hoses until they're no longer hard, and, you have boiling air coming from the vents, keep the AC off for this. Before starting, check all your fan connections, remove the fan plug to the radiator sensor, bridge it with some wire and make sure the fan spins. Keep an eye on the temp gauge and make sure the fans complete a full cooling cycle.

@@JCTsFascinatingHobbies bad news, head gasket blown :( i dont know im nothing do it for blown gasket .
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies
@JCTsFascinatingHobbies 3 жыл бұрын
Oh blimey, sorry to hear this. I'd personally weigh up the cost of a replacement head gasket, against the rest of the car. If the car is rust free, and the engine was in good shape before the head gasket failure, I'd get it sorted, and, replace the timing chain at the same time, which is a common QG weak spot.

Sorry for the late answer, unfortunately not i only have the manual in paper. Something more, never mix oil with coolant because this way they can't be recycled.
