Bike of kings! ;) 3.5 years, two Euro tours, a trackday and nearly 30000 miles later and I still love mine. The footpegs are a little worse for wear though! I also get around 4.7-5l/100km.

I bought one of these. It's my first bike. A 2009 XJ6-Diversion with ABS . It only had 3000 km's on it and is brandnew! I did a superdeal on it, very pleased with it!

I had this bike for 4 years (fz6r US) and it's an excellent bike. I rode just about everywhere on it. 2up and off road. It was my "GS" type of bike. Made 52k miles before selling it. The only thing is that I always wanted more power on a highway, especially when 2up. At about 70 mph and up I needed more pickup power. More fun... etc. Also, today's cars are more powerful than before, and you need more highway grunt in order to escape and not blend in. Thank you Cager for delivering your videos. They're informative and entertaining.

The FZ-07 get's an astounding 69.2 MPG though. Put a small windscreen on it to deny the bugs access and I think it's a better bike than the FZ6R imho. Plus it's almost a cool grand cheaper here in Canada.

Yeah, seems like a great bike to own as an "only" bike - one bike which does it all, much like the NC700/750, I feel. As per your comments about the Honda (and Hondas in general) being a bit bland, yeah, that's my out-look on them too. When I was shopping for my last bike, it was hard to beat the NC700, it won in pretty much every way as a commuter...but I just couldn't bring myself to do so - my commute is too short to justify it only as a commuter.

Miss the ocean views, hope to some day ride by the ocean side. Ride safe bud, from Toronto Canada. Oh yeah I ride a CB750 Nighthawk sweet ride lovely machine you might say LOL But just today again i was looking at the Yamaha FZ6R like the look, I trust your review so been looking at getting one, but keeping my nighthawk though lovin it From Toronto obrigado amigo

The NC700 is the Nissan qashquai of bikes, i think. Quality made, fairly cheap for what they give, practical, urban, well equipped, easy and cheap to maintain, and even pretty. And from what i can tell, this one is more like a... i dont know, a Mini Cooper LOL. Fun, but rational enough. Anyway, is there more wind noise than usual, or is just me?

Hello IRQ1 you cant compare an FZ07 to a FZ6R,different machines dude, plus the FZ07 is a twin, very torquey yes but the ingine breaking on that bike is horrible.I rode one,much different machine I much prefer the in line 4 of the FZ6R smoother.

I'm a beginner and I was wondering which bike to choose this one, or the Kawa ER6F. Looking at this bike, there is not much room to sit for the passenger right? How are the passenger seats feel and to what can the passenger actually hold on to? How does the bike handle itself with two people on it? Should I just start off with a naked version of this or, ER6N, maybe even suzuki SFV 650 Gladius? Thank you in advance!

I was thinking to trade in my cb500f for one like this (probably the diversion F since I don't like the look of a half faired bike), cause now in the winter it does indeed sucks balls to not have any wind protection (I know I should've listened to others advice, but I just thought the naked bike looked better) (still do actually) But I fear that i'll just get used to it way to quickly because the difference in power isn't that spectacular... (since I've ridden kawasaki ER6-f and suzuki gladius' from friends that have about the same amount of power but way more torque down low) I might just skip the 600-650 sporty/sport tourer bike's and try out a liter bike like the kawa Z1000SX...

Hi Cager, great review as always! I've got a Honda CBR650F and I love it, great value, plenty of performance for the road, good economy and comfortable. Plus Honda quality and reliability. The CBR also seems to handle very well and looks better in my opinion. I really like the look of the new Yamaha MT09 'Tracer' (soft road hybrid), I would like Yamaha to build a XJ-09 fully faired sports touring version on the MT09 with their Triple engine as I think that might be the perfect compromise. Anyway ride safe mate and thanks for the vids!

After ur first review of the xj6 diversion I decided to get one and maaan, I am veeery happy, actually now I own one just like the one in this review, but of blue color and limited for A2. It is heavier then the yamaha Mt07 and Honda Cb 500 ( my other 2 options) but once on the move, you don t feel that diference, actually is a lot more confortable then the other 2 ( my wife after trying the back "seat" of the MT 07 said "hell no!") . The sound is waay better on this one then the Honda, and the Mt07 doesn t offer any wind protection. For more experienced riders I recomend the Fazer or the Hornet, but this one has a bit of everything and you don t have to be Rossi to ride it, it s great for town use(it does get very hot, cooks your b@lls) for comuting and even twesties. I enjoy ur reviews and ur country (been in Aveiro , Lisboa and crossed the country N-S) soon I ll upload a video of a great costal road near where I live, the Costa Brava, N of Spain. See ya

I wonder how does this XJ6 compare to pre 2007 FZ6 (or FZ6 S2) and 2007+ FZ6 S which has +- he same engine...
@dissidente
@dissidente 9 жыл бұрын
This engine is tuned to the lower and middle ranges. From what I gathered the FZ6 (S1 and S2) is tuned to the middle and higher ranges. I can only safely speak about the XJ6 as I ride one, but when I was researching about it prior to owning it I came across this information while comparing it to the FZ6.
@shid007
@shid007 9 жыл бұрын
Pedro O. Well the old FZ6 was 72kW the newer S (FZ6 Fazer 2007+) was 57kW (quite like XJ6 now) and S2 remained 72kW... It's not only about the engine - the chassis construction is different too - xj6 is steel tube frame and fz6 is die cast alloy frame ... I guess, when the spring comes, I'll have to try them all (and many more :D) to see for myself :)

I used to have the fully faired version in the US, called the FZ6R. My bike had ~65hp and was an excellent bike to learn on. The year after I traded it in for an FZ8 to get just that little extra torque. The power on the fz6r was VERY linear (too linear). It went fine but there was never a surge of power; never much of a feeling. To me, the bike also sounds anemic (like it was lacking air). That's the main reason I sold it. The power-band was too linear. The fz8 is more entertaining for me. From idle to 6k is goes a little faster than the fz6r, but after 6k it screams (like 2 extra cylinders turned on). Another excellent bike. Very fun, and just as comfortable as the fz6r.

JMee, Cager is from Portugal. They use kph over there. So it's a bit slower but even though to fast for UK roads. I was wondering whether Cager might be somehow traced and prosecuted by Portugese police for overspeeding based on his clips ;-). I think we should be careful uploading clips ...
@HZJMee
@HZJMee 9 жыл бұрын
No shit. His speedo hit 200 KPH at one point. I was converting KPH to MPH. Hence why I said MPH. Also "we" are not uploading these clips, he is. And considering he never shows his face or says his name, they'll be hard-pressed to make a case.

JMee IP address + date/time of upload from Google cross referenced with customer details from the ISP. Unless cafe wifi is good enough to upload HD videos :) Bike does look and sound like a great potential second/third bike after learning on something smaller.
@HZJMee
@HZJMee 9 жыл бұрын
Decided to Ride Considering the hassle it is to obtain an IP from Google, plus the amount of paperwork it takes to pry customer info from an ISP (I know this, believe me), plus, depending on how Portugal works for obtaining personal information, possibly a warrant, I sincerely doubt they'll go through that much trouble just to issue a speeding ticket. This is one of the reasons why most people blur or obscure their faces on their motovlogging channels if they do illegal activities, because it's a lot easier and quicker for them to just run facial recognition on a video that has been uploaded to the public. It's a time and cost vs payoff thing.

On the liter bikes with too much power there is always the tendency to use that power at some point and it's never really safe. It's exciting now and then but for everyday riding the XJ6 is a great machine. What roads do we all ride the most on? Good point ab out ABS. Americans have not been buying ABS as much because it is more expensive and the economy is not so great to just buy whatever you want. So yeah the XJ is great for the riding many many of us do.

Explain to me why anyone would buy this bike when the FZ/MT-07 is available for less $$$? Also: -HP is about the same on both (5hp more on the MT-07, but that's negligible) -MT-07 has 14% more torque. -MT-07 weighs 15% less. -MT-07 even gets better fuel-economy. No-brainer.
@TheKruxed

Better wind protection, better display, wouldn't look retarded with a top box and side cases(?), more comfortable, bigger fuel tank, 4 vs 2 cylinders, lower seat and slightly longer... its an all rounder, which the mt07 isn't.

Ray, they are hardly the same type of bike, as The Kruxed and lakai2305 pointed out. When I was shopping for my XJ6 I confess I was in love for the MT-07, and coming from a naked bike (and loving naked bikes) it was the natural way to go. However the MT was way out of my pocket so I aimed towards the XJ6N. I found the Diversion in better all-round conditions so I bought it and man, it was the right decision. Totally different style and ride, but a lot more versatile and the same fun =) Looking back it was the right call
