Tower Factory is a roguelite tower defense factory builder with some (auto) clicker aspects....that's a mouthful! Manage your resources building stone miners and wood cutters to expand your resource factory, building towers to defend from increasingly difficult waves of monsters, and using bonfires to find your way through the fog to uncover the enemy fortress.

After a couple of hours of playthrough this is my take: - Beacons are worth more than Bonfires in the long run. Despite the 2x radius difference, the amount of fog they clear up is well worth the price. - Getting 2 Balistas with priority set to Highest Armor right after the first night will get you through the 2nd day, as long as you have a handful of Acorn Cannons to back them up. - Place Spike towers where it can hit multiple enemies, or where can enemy will circle around it to increase the value. - Increase your economy as much as possible! By the 2nd or 3rd day, I easily have 3-5 miners, and 10 choppers. The first and second day are more forgiving in terms of building your econ. - Plan out your logistics. Without proper planning, the logistics with conveyors can become a nightmare. Look where your next batch of logs will come from, and move your choppers and miners accordingly.

I have a different take but do agree with some of your findings. - Beacons are worth the investment. - Don't waste effort getting ballistas early. Prioritize 3 wood choppers on every entrance and you'll have plenty of wood for enough acorn cannons to fend off the first few days of attacks. Save those wooden boards to upgrade stone to stone brick so you can make the beacons as soon as you hit 100 light. I don't even touch ballistas until the damage booster spots are able to be used as 15 acorn cannons will handle everything until the ogres come. - Spike towers aren't worth the coins required. There's only 1-2 spots on every map they're better than acorn cannons as they're terrible against armor so you need them far enough back for the armor to be gone and spikes only hit + adjacent tiles and do the same damage as acorn towers. Simply not worth the coins until you can spare them. - If you focus on maxing out the intake at every entrance, you'll have your day 3 economy by close to the end of day 1. - Focusing on logistics is pointless on a whole. As you delete chunks of your system every time you deplete a node. You get back 100% of the resources selling production items. Nearly every time you expand your vision you'll be redoing chunks of your system to fit in more production of advanced materials. You *want* to focus on depleting nodes early to free up space and the fact you're swimming in wood and stone, if you prioritize maxing your intake, laying down a long snake of conveyors is the last of your worries. Just keep the production and the refiner close together so the conveyor going to the tower is the final product as you can't pull specific items off a line once mixed. - In terms of tower placement you want catapults up front hitting non-split areas targeting the furthest back. Then a few acorn towers targeting lowest health to not have your ballistas be wasted on them. Then the layer of ballistas set to highest armor and health. Finished off with acorn towers targeting a mix of fastest and lowest health, 2 crystals set to armor and highest health and fixed target and spike traps (only if they can hit 3 squares). Remember to delete the starting acorn cannons once you hit the max as half their range is inside your tower. With the right layout and all the upgrades you can get to day 7 fairly reliably. The most important upgrades are the acorn cannon damage, light upgrades, beacon, tower count and catapult speed upgrades. With those you'll reliably be able to beat the level. You will find early on the limiter is light and opening up more space. You never want to be waiting on resources once you hit 100 light.

Oh and btw when you were making the stakes, use a splitter, since it makes stakes slower than the wood gets produced, unlike making planks

Thanks for the strategy update. Pause would be awesome and might be a difficulty setting thing in the final version.

Beacons needs 3.3 times more light essence, but clears 4 times more fog of war. The Bonfires has also the problem, that you can only clear a half circle. With Beacons, you can use 3/4 of its clearing area, if you build a path with 2 Bonfires and then place a Beacon. So in the end, it nealy needs just the half of light essence!

The spike things work as traps and if you place them right they hit in multiple directions and multiple foes at once.

The demo can be beaten only with catapult and beacon upgrades. Seriously, these beacons worth so much than bonfires. You need 3 beacons: 1 to reveal the path ahead, and 1 beacon on each side of the base. You will find at least 1 crystal (2 if lucky). This open so much space, thah you will never search again for resources. After reach this point it is matter of time to find the remaining crystals. Good luck!

the base dpm of ballista and acorn cannon is the same. it's just that ballistas are way better against armor. i havn't checked the dpm with dmg upgrades about spike towers: i am kinda disappointed by those. only few spots on a map, where they could be effective

something I didn't even think about before...do spike towers attack all 4 sides at one time? That would make sense that they have the same stats as the acorn tower, but with way more investment. But their placement would be much more limited.

Some more tips: - set priorities for the towers. Ballista should focus on shield and high health. Catapults last enemies. - If you figured out the game (for me after some youtube and ~4 rounds) you may notice gathering coins can be more efficient to just idle the game instead of playing it. Then after gathering some updates essential updates (catapult, damage, light drop rate), try to beat the game.

you moved resource buildings, can you move beacon/bonfire? that would solve your "lose 1/2" problem, leapfrog them around. 1 bonfire then a beacon and move the old bonfire forward.

nope, once bonfires/beacons are placed, they can't be moved.

"light essence is the bottleneck" continues to constantly run out of stone and wood while having leftover essence, get more eco dude

My impressions of the game (I love Factorio (1200h atm), I hate TD games) : - liked it so far, though I hate the being rushed. Have not yet beaten the demo. - wishlisted it, gonna buy if if price is low enough (except ...) - if this comes out ~ November this year, nobody will buy it IF in October we get the Factorio expansion - controls, especially for belts, are awful and need to be improved! - balancing could be better. For 6 mins of idling you get 1 coin, for playing the game for 20mins you get ~3 coins. Wtf? - there should be a way to pause while looking and scrolling
