I never flew an aircraft with a G1000 ...back on those days everything was gauges and needles ...I love XP for the faithfulness to these equipments and the dynamics of flight

Same here, I have over 1000 hrs of real life steam gauges and xplane does that super well. I want to be better at more modern avionics and I really love the functionality and updates they have put into making them as true to the real world as possible.

There are some other graphics options they could add to the menu, such as an option for no street vehicles, or slider for many to none. I know how to force it, but a menu option would be more convenient.

Also, it would be great if rural highways and interstates weren't stringed with street lights. It's not realistic, for one. The less instances of procedural objects in unnecessary locations, the better for the GPU processing. There are definitely some tweaks they could do that could greatly help with FPS.

Yea for sure, honestly I still don't think the graphic updates are anything more than what XP11 with a custom scenery package would be. I installed Sim Heaven and didn't see a difference -- the footage from this video was in the Boise area and I didn't find it to be anything over impressive.

@@flightsimguides The biggest difference I've noticed in side by side comparisons is the terrain visibility distance is higher in 12. Most apparent in mountainous areas. I also think the clouds are better, the most recent updates look ever better with the clouds, to me anyways.

How are your shadows in the cockpit so smooth. I have a 13900KS/4090/32gb RAM. I set the settings to max in the sim but the shadows are still choppy.

Might play with turning some settings down. I’ve got a 3080 and if I max the settings it will give me some chop chop. Maybe you hittin some limits. Not sure how, lol, that’s well trimmed machine from the sounds of it…

The only reason I stay loyal to X plane is that I don't have to download huge amounts of data during the flight! And I have the certainty that I can fly without an internet connection. I have also purchased many extra planes in the meantime! I can't download msfs flightsim anyway

I still like XP11 the best -- def my goto if I want a serious flight on the books. Doesn't MSFS add and remove data as you fly? As long as you have an internet connection, which isn't a huge issue for me.

Hate to break it to you but MSFS 2024 is coming out X plane better make a 13 with built in photo scenery / orthos No more Lego scenery That’s outdated

At the moment x-plane no longer has the best avionics for GA, G1000 etc

Cool…. I’m not super familiar with g1000 abilities to begin with. Ru saying msfs has a more fully functional g1000 than xp?

@@flightsimguides Yes. Microsoft hired working title. Working title did an overhaul of the avionics. The G1000Nxi, GNS 430/530, G3000/G5000

Good to know, I might go back and play around with MSFS today and see if I can tell the difference. I'm mostly just happy to see LR putting some effort into the updates for the Garman Avionics software packages IN XPlane 12. Would like to see them afford the same efforts to the 530/430 and 750/650 and even the G5. The latter of which only works with third party software to begin with.
