Great job as always Oggie, the silent movie style intro and outro were classic. I especially like the subtle lighting effect under the chair as that adds a nice dimension to the display. I saw Metropolis ages ago on late night TV; watched it again recently when I caught the Georgio Moroder version with new music tracks and tinted scenes and I found it a pretty imaginative re-imagining of such an old film. It's available for free on KZfaq for anyone who has never seen the movie.

Excellent job on this! I'm constantly amazed that in this day and age, certain model companies still can't seem to make a kit without stupid design choices. In the case of this model, the poor placement of that seam that you had to fix, the molding of those struts that you had to drill out because they didn't make them the proper size and the lame way that the parts were attached to the sprues.
@InterstellarModeler
@InterstellarModeler Жыл бұрын
Yeah it is surprising. Considering how much thought is usually put into the design of a kit it's disappointing they chose to attach the parts in such a way. Thanks for you compliment though and for watching. I really appreciate it.

The color choice I think is spot on including the base color, you do have a gift for color choices. The base idea with the lights was a smart move not overbearing easy on the eyes and the battery placement was a choice I would have chosen...fantastic work Oggie, thanks for your time and hard work in posting and sharing it's greatly appreciated. I still cannot believe that it's a 1927 movie. The design of the robot is still amazing today! Unbelievable. One question! Are you sure that the iris is the same colour of the eye? Because I remember I saw the iris light gray and the eye a lighter light gray

Really good video, one of the best modeling videos I’ve watched. I’ve been working on this kit… dry fitting the pieces and cleaning off excess plastic. I didn’t like the gold color. I was considering painting it in grays since the the original Fritz Lang movie was in B&W. But I like the silver/gold color you chose better. Also the way you lit the model is excellent. I’m going to incorporate a lot of your build into mine. Again, thanks for the great video. I’ve subscribed to your channel.

I believe that in the film the base for the chair was partly glass, and light shone through it and it was reflective as well. I wonder if it would be hard to replace the flat part of the base with a piece of acrylic cut to size? Also, I don't know if the entire chair was reflective but shots from the film show the robot's legs reflected in the front of the chair.

Nice and interesting model. Just the Paintjob could use some slight variation in the metal tones, it looks a bit to uniform. One question, is this plain old plastoc you could glue with your old Tamiya extra thin glue or is that some sort of special plastic/resin? Greetings from Germany! Qapla'

Hey Oggie, you inspired me to have a crack at this model kit, what I wanted to know is if you used a specific airbrush cleaner for the metal paints, or just regular Isopropyl alcohol?

That's great, am glad you enjoyed my video. Just Isopropyl is fine, I'd recommend at least 90% concentration. Also important that you clean immediately after you're done painting with it. Thanks for watching
