I love the simplicity of Tom Moore’s playbook for Manning. This play was simply called Y or H dig. In my opinion, Tom Moore is an underrated genius as an offensive coordinator who was able to keep things simple and yet execute at a high-level. I recall seeing a scan on the run plays from one of the Colts’ Super Bowls. They literally only took four runs into that game. Sorry for going off topic. Ha ha Regarding the levels... I recall reading somewhere that Nick Saban said it’s the toughest pass concept to defend when run correctly. Between Manning loving it and Saban struggling with it, sounds like it should be in everybody’s playbook and mastered.

I’ve heard Manning say how this is his favorite concept because it‘s good against so many different coverages so that’s awesome you mention that. I also noticed LSU ran a lot of concepts with all the receivers breaking in the same direction. Wasn’t necessarily levels, but they all would break to the right or left at different depths and made the read so easy to burrow as they all crossed his vision.

Not really .... the playbooks are designed to sound confusing.... that's why people tend to think QBs are supposedly so smart... it's a bunch of jibberish , and most QBs that explain it didn't even play that much or had a lot of success...

I'm having trouble distinguishing between the Levels and Drive concepts.
@Mr92094
@Mr92094 3 жыл бұрын
From what I can gather a drive uses a drag instead of an in as the short route and usually the drag goes in motion first to get more space. And JT can correct this if I’m wrong but the in on levels is to be caught on the same side as the LOS while with drive it’s to be caught on the other side across the center
@TheQBSchool
@TheQBSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Levels run from the backside looks and can operate in a similar fashion to drive as the non primary concept, e.g., drive out. For me, Drive is usually a seven step drop under center. Originally, it was almost always the primary and you would throw it on the other side of the center. Also, creating a west coast staple triangle. Not true for primary levels. There it's a 5 step drop and thrown quickly. Also, usually the #1 or Outide WR usually runs the drive. Not true in the backside levels. Hope those subtle differences help. I agree though, it can be difficult to tell difference. In HS ball, we carry drive and frontside levels. We manipulate drive to operate as our backside levels ish concept to get full field reads.

Interesting, great work as always JT One thing though that confused me - I've heard announcers refer to plays with a 5, 15, and 25 yard outs as "levels" (e.g. the Minneapolis Miracle). Is that just a misnomer or can it also be applied that way?
@taboohstidbits4479
@taboohstidbits4479 3 жыл бұрын
The Minneapolis Miracle was more of a Flood Concept. Thielen ran a 7 route (corner), Rudolph ran the out and Diggs ran the deep corner (7 heaven). That was the playcall.
