Just ahead of the 2016 All-Ireland final, Daithi Regan told Joe Molloy of Newstalk's Off the Ball show an incredible story about a sock fine, flattening Ollie Baker and how he made peace with the Clare midfielder.

Mike Houlihan s dig in the ribs was actually a retaliation for Daithi Regans shoulder charge on Mike Houlihan before the ball was even thrown in.

As an Offaly man it's good of Daithi to tell us what a great game he had against Clare that day. He may have hit Baker but I don't remember him hitting the ball once. He was the best minor full forward I ever saw (1986) but at senior, other than the '95 Leinster final, he did very little.

He got a few pucks of it... Never seemed the fittest maybe that what was wrong

@@sir243_simr Probably. He also had an attitude problem. I always think that if he and Duignan, the big men, had carried their weight we'd have won more than two all Irelands in the 90s.

@@olearysgrave yes great days... I think Duignan did play more to his potential than Regan though... Its a far cry from offaly now... I thought they reached their bottom a few years ago and were beginning to improve but there could be even worse to come now after yesterday

@@sir243_simr For sure. My attitude is we had great days, better than any other county and I was lucky enough to be at most of them from '81 to '98. The small pick has always been the problem and to win 3 footballs and 4 hurlings was amazing. Look at the likes of Kildare, Westmeath, Louth, Wicklow ... Big populations but they can't win shit. If we never win again I'll still be proud to support the best county.

This is a fantasy. Baker walked all over Regan that day. The game is on KZfaq, you don't have to take my word for it. Regan is delusional if he actually believes this is how the game went.

No Daithi you didn’t dominate him! That’s all you did that day was split Ollie. You hardly pucked a ball a ball and Clare won the All-Ireland. Ps: I’m not from Clare

Didn’t do Baker any harm if my memory serves me correct, he played a stormer that day, and many more days after, possibly the best midfielder for the rest of that decade. If there was an all star selection for the most ignorant 15 players ever to play the game at senior inter county level, Regan would be a shoe in at midfield or centre forward

You Dirty Tipperary scum bag.McDonagh the Limerick corner back pulled straight accross Scanllon the wexford corner forward ref sends of wexford man for pulling back.Garry Kirby put his hand up Liam Dunne pulled left nothing but the stump Garry is still crying like a big baby .Limerick showed no respect to Wexford. Was the wexford back supposed to stand back an admire Gary Kirby. Kilkenny have the upper hand on you Tipp scum bags.

If that 96 All Ireland was still going on Limerick still wouldn’t be able to win it, completely lost their shape & composure in the 2nd half with a spare man, seemed to be spooked by what happened 2 years earlier.
