I think it's safe to say that people who found Mamamoo through their singing clips don't expect to stan bunch of comedians. And those who found them through their crackhead videos probably have no idea that they're vocal monsters in KPop at first.

oh man, so much laughter and you're only through one member (though i know you recorded solar and moonbyul together). all four of these women are naturally funny ...even comedians have said every one of them is a perfect comedian junior, they've got the sense and timing down... especially wheein, who actually wanted to be a comedian when she was a kid. before she found out even they have to study i swear, these women can't be real. incredible vocals, top-notch dancers (that's finally being seen after years), producers, composers, writers, comedians, humble and down to earth, yet stubborn about holding onto their own beliefs and challenging things they feel should be challenged. it's just beyond amazing that these four women are together in one group and not only allowed the freedom to do whatever they want, but actively encouraged to do so they actually believe it was destined that the four meet and become friends, no matter what (hwasa especially is a proponent of this) and they hint a bit at that in their "hip" mv. rbw, the agency they're a part of, was the last chance for all four of these women, who had all been rejected by multiple agencies time and time again (solar said she was rejected 40+ times, mostly for being 'too old' since she started training in her 20s instead of early teens. wheein and hwasa, best friends from middle school, said they were going to give up and go back home to jeonju if rbw hadn't signed them. moonbyul had a similar story but hers was a bit rougher since she was originally trained as a singer but the agency told her she had to learn to rap if she was going to debut. it was pretty shitty but we got such an amazing rapper out of it... (who says both solar and hwasa helped her learn how to rap... how crazy is that?) and now she's finally comfortable singing alongside the other three, so everyone can realize she's also an incredibly amazing vocalist) this guide is amazing and covers quite a lot of info in an entertaining way but, of course, it doesn't cover everything (and really, it shouldn't. there's just not time for everything and some things should be discovered on your own). one thing with solar that it doesn't bring up yet, but part 3 might when it's released, is her writing/composing. every member has multiple songs they've written (wheein has the fewest released but the ceo has admitted to sitting on a lot of her stuff waiting for the perfect album for it. hopefully we see some of that with her solo album early next year) and they're all komca-accredited. as a group, they've got three songs dedicated to the fans: "i love too", "star wind flower sun" and "i'm your fan". solar wrote the original versions of all three of these, with other lyrics being added to the first two by the other girls over time. she's got such a big heart, always insists on trying to give back so much more than she receives, and forever thankful for everything ...all the members are but just something about solar's stands out to me

Another great reaction! Watched your Killing Voice reaction a few hours ago and was gifted this upload before bed! Solar is a gem (as they all are). A fun fact as to why Solar's demeanor was different during the Killing Voice video was that she was super focused to nail the vocals perfectly, thus she was pretty serious until they cleared the I Miss You vocals. After that you'll see her free up and have more fun. As a leader she keeps the members on track, and keeps their spirits up with her natural insanity. i think kpop groups (especially the ones who recently debuted) have at least 1 - 2 powerhouse vocals who can literally make it on their own after their group contract. what's amazing to me is that Mamamoo has all their members have that skill and talent. So far the only kpop group who top the charts as a group and as solo artists. They weren't designed to conform with the kpop idol standards but rather molded into legitimate superstars since day 1. I suggest you look into their debut track MV Mr. Ambiguous and google each and every name that pops up there. you'd be surprised on how many legitimate stars in their own fields was part of one single 5min clip

Note for instance, how the second B in "babo" is more like a B (and not a P). Also note that the P sound this beginning B sounds like, is not a hard P, they have a separate character for that (ㅍ) but more of a softer P, somewhere in between a B and a P :)

their vocals and music writing is what sets them apart they practiced hard to train their vocals because people said before their debut that their group wouldn’t be a visual group so they worked on their harmonies, dances and writing and you can see the result in their hard work

Solar is a trip. Solar's personality combines so many conflicting dualities that she doesn't seem possible - if she was a character in a kdrama I think the writers would be scoffed at for writing an unbelievable person. Wheein once said something like "Solar is an interesting existence." MMM-TV isn't a tv show, it's a series uploaded on Mamamoo's yt channel. There's a zillion episodes. The pronunciation of B & P is a clue of how Korean differs from English and other western languages. It can be confusing when we try to render Korean into letters we know, aka romanization. Romanization is just an unofficial approximation of the pronunciation because there isn't an exact equivalent letter by letter so we should always take romanized Korean with a grain of salt. As an illustration of the B/P problem, the common Korean name 박 is often written Park in English even though there is no R sound in the name and you'll also see it rendered as Baek, which is closer to the actual pronunciation. I know very little Korean but I'll pass on some things that I found helpful. Phonetically B and P are just variations of the same sound and in Korean they get the same letter (ㅂ) while in English they get separate letters. B & P are both produced in the front of our mouths. The same thing happens with G & K in Korean - they get the same letter because they're variations of the same sound and both are made in the back of our mouths. If you say Buh - Puh and Guh - Kuh a few times you'll see what I mean. I think how each letter is pronounced in Korean depends on things like where it occurs in the word but a Korean speaker would probably say that the real pronunciation of ㅂ isn't exactly like either B or P but is somewhere in between.

There's something with MAMAMOO that you can't pick a bias, is the constant struggle of the fans. My wrecker will always be Solar, she's such a great role model and inspirational character. All of them are. The girls have gone through a lot and I'm glad they are getting the recognition they deserve. Despite this guide is the most complete and well done out of all the member guides. I'd just like to add that Solar got 3 different certificates in three days. (Recreation Leadership, Laughter therapist and fun leadership) she also did a solo project called Solar's Sensitivity where she sang her favorite Korean songs and all of the songs has MV.
