moonbyul is such a good rapper who wrote her very own rap and get 70 komca (korean music copyrights association) credits. girlies didn't come to play. shes also a really good vocalist and lyricist.

the part where byul was talking about gender roles here... that's her personal feminist battle... each member has their own similar battles and also supports the battles/views of her members. that's one of the many reasons they've got so many female fans (one of solar's battles is age, since she became a trainee in her early 20s, which is considered exceptionally late. hwasa's main one is ridiculous beauty standards. wheein's most immediately noticeable one is openly supporting the lgbtq+ community, which all the members do, but she goes above and beyond) most of the time in her dance breaks, moonbyul dances with male backup dancers. they're frequently there when she raps or sings her solo segments, too. two of the three songs played at the beginning here, "eclipse" and "absence" were choreographed by kasper, who is known for doing much of exo's choreography. byul is the first female artist he's ever choreographed for and he had nothing but praise for both her and her dancers, both male and female. he originally just worked on "eclipse", her solo debut, with her, but came back a few months later to choreograph her song "absence", as well the choreographer in the clip here talking about hip movement was lia kim, a very well-known choreographer in the kpop scene. she's created the choreo for several of mamamoo's title tracks in recent years, starting with "hip" (which i swear this clip was a teaser for since it was on the show 'queendom' and they released "hip" a few months after), hwasa's "maria" and then "dingga" and "aya" for the group as a whole. previous to "gogobebe", mamamoo always did their own choreography and they still create the choreo for most of their b-sides that they will perform live. "gogobebe" was the first time they used a famous choreographer, mina myoung from one million dance (which is where lia kim is also from) the song byul was singing that you said was r&b is from the boy group tvxq, which byul is a huge fan of. i think she's performed at least one of their songs in pretty much every one of her solo stages at their concerts. also, these women are all big fans of r&b (especially wheein) and you'll see its influence in a lot of their music (...again, especially wheein) the first of the girls shown falling for byul here is punch, who is known for the many amazing osts she's done. the guy she's talking to is sandeul of b1a4, who is one of moonbyul's closest friends. the three were on a show together, 'in sync' ('kiss' or 'kissing' in korean) where two artists partnered up to create duets. byul was really worried about attending this since she's mostly known for her rapping and not her vocals. sandeul really helped ease her troubles and even gave up his chance with his number one pick on the show (punch) to sing a duet with byul in the first episode. after that, every other male artist on the show clamored to partner with her. and all the other women on the show became pretty decent friends, but punch and moonbyul are definitely the closest. they've even released two songs together, punch did a remake of one of her osts with byul and byul had punch on her song "weird day" the 'sun hae' person falling for byul... is solar, whose name is kim yongsun. it was byul's first solo vlive and she was extremely nervous, so solar wanted to both boost her spirits and play a prank on her... she intended to call in as moonbyul's number one fan, yong sunhae, and get byul to say 'i love you, yong sunhae' (basically, 'i love you yongsun') live. she thought one of the staff was going to call and then hand the phone over to byul, so answered in her normal voice when byul called... which gave her away, as you can see here. since then, sunhae has become a character that solar portrays from time to time, a silver-haired granny that is still byul's nubmer one fan koreans tend to say 'greasy' where we usually use 'sleazy', except they often use it... like playfully, as you see byul doing in these clips. also, that interview with the hostess with the red hair is amazing to watch sometime. it was during promotions for byul's solo, "eclipse". she also had all of mamamoo on her show while promoting "aya" and... the five of them are just total chaos together. in the absolute best way possible the bit where byul fed wheein that super salty dish is from moonbyul's solo concert, aired online since it was earlier this year and all the fun covid stuff... wheein was one of her guest artists at the concert (the other three being byul's three corgis). moonbyul cooked an omlet, but made it super salty as you see here. and then decided to share it with poor wheein

I also find it very weird that gender has anything to do with words that essentially are just descriptive words or verbs/adjectives. You should be able to describe anything or anyone how you like. If you think a guy is wonderfully gorgeous then he is - to you, if you think a girl is stunningly handsome then she is - to you and if you think a person is funny, weird and awesome then they are - to you. Who cares what others think of your thoughts towards something or someone else. It will never make sense to me why people create labels where there should never be any.
