I have mixed opinions about this. I think it largely depends on the goal. If one wants to have casual conversation, one might approach learning a language differently than if they want to engage in business discussion. Reading light novels will be different from reading classic literature. And there are different dialects as well. Finding a class or merhod of studying that most directly meets thst goal can be good. But language is very complicated. One has to start somewhere. I'm sure Japanese spoken by an English speaker sounds very stiff at first with lots of mistakes, but it starts to lay a foundation one can build an intuition about how the language works. Japanese people learning English likewise often sound stiff, make grammatical mistakes, pronunce things oddly, omit words and other things, yet if their thoughts and feelings come across, that's more than good enough to start. The rest will come with time and practice. I find the sort of clickbaity videos with titles like "never use はい, never use あなた..." to be very unhelpful for most language learners. I'm sure they are correct once you teach a certain level, but at the point where one is still struggling to remember words or how to communicate concepts grammatically, I doubt using a word or phrase a native wouldn't use is the most important thing to worry about. Saying something awkwardly is better than not saying anything until you can say it perfectly. I see the same thing in a lot of ESL videos. They arent wrong per se, but a lot if time they get really nitpicky about a word or phrase or grammer that is perfectly fine but maybe not used as often in their region. But language, especially casual language, changes very fast and varies a lot by region. Overall, it is probably better to have a solid foundation in grammar that might be a bit stiff sounding, but isnt wrong and use that to build up an intuition on how the people one wants to engage with use the language. Passion English and passion Japanese goes a long way.

Yea it's intuition. Not really sure what you are actually commenting on though.
